    Got correctly sized for boots and have to replace my bindings. I have union legacy (w’s strata) on my park/all mountain boards, and trilogy (w’s force) on my pow board. I can get the new trilogy or women’s ultra w my c3 pro deal. Ideally I’d like to get both down the line, but if I can only get one pair (resort employee probs) does the trilogy or ultra stand out more? 90% hotlapping the park/tow, 10% trees/pow/all mountain. They’d be going on a k2 lime lite-daily driver, Salomon Gypsy, ride psychocandy, and nidecker odyssey on deep pow days. Thinking the ultras might be underpowering for the odyssey and possibly psychocandy, but wanted to hear your thoughts. Thank you so much!

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  Рік тому +2

      More surfy go Ultra's more power trilogy. For 90% park laps though I'd probably go Ultra and just deal with it being slightly under performing elsewhere.

    I really wanted to have these bindings but union sizes do not overlap at all and my size is right in the middle of 2 different sizes. According to my boots they are 40.5 EU (S on union) - 8 US (M on union) so I think it is unlikely either of those sizes would really fit my boot properly...
    I'm looking for other alternatives which could fit my foot size better. Ride bindings M have a nice ~37-43 EU bracket I wish there were more options.

    Hey Avran, I typed out a whole message but it became a wall of text so here are the bullet points:
    -140-145 lbs, size 7 DC T.Rice boot.
    -151 Flagship with Burton Cartel X ReFlex in small.
    -Baseplate flexing more than I'd like in certain situations (High speed turns/slashes and 10'+ drops).
    -Looking for a stiffer baseplate and similarly stiff highback (a little more stiff is ok, but I have a pair of 2017 Now Recons and that carbon highback is too stiff for me in anything uneven).
    -Not a fan of sewn straps.
    -Research turned up: Union Atlas/Atlas Pro, Ride A-9/A-10, Now Drive, and Flux XF (Union Falcor, Jones Mercury, Now Drive Pro, Bent Metal Solution, Nitro Phantom, and Rome Cleaver not made in small).
    -Tried a small A-9 and the heel cup squished my boot enough to where it uncomfortably pinched my achilles.
    -Lack of foam/impact absorption in the footbed of the Atlases and Flux have me concerned as I have started to feel my knees a bit when landing harsh and would like the option to charge hard on ungroomed runs and send rollers/side hits.
    My questions for you are:
    1) Can you think of any other bindings I may have missed?
    2) Am I overthinking the lack of foam on the Atlas/Atlas Pro and Flux XF footbeds?
    Thanks and let me know where you'd like the sacrifice I'm exchanging for your time sent to.

      Have you looked at women's versions of the mens?

    • @ieatants888
      @ieatants888 Рік тому

      I did for some manufacturers, but I forgot to include that:
      -Now, Jones, and Union women's bindings don't go high enough on the stiffness for what I'm looking for.
      -Ride was all unisex from what I could tell.
      -I had not checked Flux and they do have the GX and GS, but the XF already comes in small so I didn't think to check initially.
      -I hadn't checked Nitro either, but those also don't go stiff enough.
      Any other ideas? No worries if not, just want to make sure I don't leave any major stones unturned.
      If I'm out of options I'll check how my boot fairs in a medium A-9/A-10 if one of my local stores has one in stock, or go with the Atlas/Atlas Pro or Flux XF.
      And a note for future comment readers: in my list above I mentioned Nitro Phantom, those don't come in small either so they should not have been included. [Edited previous comment to reflect this]

      @AngrySnowboarder  Рік тому +4

      @@ieatants888 Here's what you do. You grab set of the women's Union base/heel. You swap out the heel strap and the highback. This should give you what you want.

    • @ieatants888
      @ieatants888 Рік тому

      Nice! I could definitely Frankenstein something.
      The stiffest women's binding I see on Unions site is the Trilogy which appears to have the same base as the Force so I'd probably use that instead (unless you know something about differing construction). I'd initially not included the Force because I figured the baseplate would be at best the same stiffness as the Cartel X, but now you've got me thinking that maybe the unwanted flex I'm noticing with the Cartel's is more from the split baseplate rather than the stiffness. Something for me to chew on.
      Thank you for the input!
      Unfortunately I'm fresh out of sacrifices, but I did notice some fat skier kids hanging around the Epic Mountain Gear last week so hopefully I can stock up in time to pay the postage for one last question: I know the general advice is to match the flexes of the snowboard, bindings, and boots, but I was wondering what the difference(s) would be between a setup where the snowboard is stiffer than the binding which is stiffer than the boots and vice versa. Any thoughts on if one way would be more suited for certain riding styles and/or conditions than the other?

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  Рік тому +1

      @@ieatants888 I roll the stiffest boot K2 makes that's not a BC boot and it's not stiff enough. Binding is mid stiff, and boards are whatever.

My 13s fit good even in the large binding --- I moved the toe-strap (ladder) placement as far forward as it would go and that helped a bunch. Also had to adjust the toe and ankle straps (push-pins) so they were dialed for my bigger boot (out of the box I say they were laid out for more like an 11 boot or so)... But, yeah, after adjustments... the 24 Force (large / not xl) fit my 13s pretty damn spot-on👍

The combo is good until I don’t charge hard down the slope, at that point I feel like the board is not really as responsive as it should be. Also looks like that the rubber in front of the binding base is bending and coming off. Would be this model more direct and rigid in terms of response? Or should I look for something even stiffer? Hi Avran, ive been riding a pair of Nitro Ramblers '22 with my Bataleon Thunder. Not too satisfied, they lack response, have a lot of give, strapping them extra tight only makes the ride uncomfortable. I was thinking of switching bindings this season. Had my mind on Unions, everybody i know says theyre solid. I wonder if Atlas wont be too much for me, im just a bit concerned that the force will be lacking response. Would you recommend amything else? Generally resort riding, its my fourth season, i like the control. Thank you for all the informative reviews and videos 🙏
    I just changed my board from Rome artifact rocker 2012 version, paired with Rome boss 390 to GNU finest 2024 to have a more all mountain freestyle setup. I was wondering if you could recommend some bindings to pair with the GNU finest to get a more playful feeling to it, i love hitting side jumps, 360, 180 and just buttering and constantly trying to do ground tricks while exploring the resorts. Cheers ✌️

    How does the Force compares to the Ultra??

    • @AngrySnowboarder

      It’s stiffer, more responsive, has more adjustability.

  • @ODBracer

    Sounds like these don’t absorb impact any better than the atlas. I thought I was gonna love the atlas but the toe ratchets don’t release well and the Flad doodad only moves on one high back and my joints hate em on hard bumpy snow. Kinda regret buying them and was hoping I could swap for these but maybe I need to look at the bataleons/Rome to get response and shock absorption.

      It's better than the Atlas in my opinion. You should also look at Nitro if you're looking for better dampening.

    Excellent bindings when it comes to feel and control. But the quality of the heel straps are quite bad (both of them broke after just one and a half season of use). Also the adjustment for the heel is great, but after a long day of driving it mostly loosens, actually it stretches from position 1 to position 2 no matter how much I tighten the screws.

    • @AnotherDaveInParadise

      The only way the heelcup will move is if you’ve filed it down to create slotted fixing points. The aluminium doesn’t stretch to allow the bolts to move.
