I personally like to clean all my firearms after every range training session. Really you only need to clean it after several hundred rounds. Definately never go more than 500, the more you shoot and put off cleaning, the more carbon builds up which makes it harder to clean and scrub off.
My friend carries this gun. It is disgusting. It looks like the space between the slide and the lower is a storage space for nasty belly button lint, dog fur and dried up cola. It shoots fine. Until one day it won't. He won't learn.
Take it apart then throw it away in the trash. Another Taurus pistol that's been recalled by Taurus starting in 2023. Quality of their revolvers are much better. But their pistols have been loaded with issues dating back since 1997.
The current ones have been recalled have been fixed, mine in particular had no issues. Budget entry pistols will have budget entry problems, but majority work perfectly fine for the price. Taurus has full warranty on thier firearms as well, personally I like them for being budget entry. I am however switching to a Canik Mete MC9 or Springfield Hellcat for my EDC very soon. I prefer the trigger on that one.
How often should it be cleaned?
