- Saluda Grade was the steepest mainline grade in the United States! Coming this Christmas, you can take on the Mountain of Challenge. Before you embark on this journey, getting a proper rundown on train operations over the mountain is only right. We have recreated the iconic Saluda Training Video using the upcoming Saluda Grade route to help aid you. Route made by FreetheCheez!

This has to be the best freeware for trainz!! I just watched a documentary level film with real life footage from the cab!!!! Amazing!!
Switchback, you are doing the Trainz community a great service. I commend your efforts and I wish you all a merry Christmas and new year!
In loving memory of the Saluda grade of north Carolina
This is a really well made reaction of the original Saluda video, nice work.
Yay up to date Saluda! Please tell us the Aluminum cars and RC cars will be coming out too.
Silverside are private models but the RC Cars we may be to get out at some point. Not this release but hopefully soon :)
DANGGG, something tells me you and Brougham are big fans of the Southern, and also being a southern fanatic, I can’t help but approve, great work as always!

Saluda hungers
What version of Trainz is this?
For TRS19 SP5 and above
WELL DONE BOYS, Time to embarass 611 again 🤣
You should try putting 4501 on this, darn mikado managed to pull through Saluda like nothing, and yet the most powerful 4-8-4 ever built slipped right on the summit with a 5-car train.
Only issues would be the grade is a bit off of the real thing. This rendition is 5.73% in the steepest part which is almost a full % off of the real thing, and while that may not sound like much, it makes a huge difference for locomotives. Also K&l steam engines in Trainz are known to under preform when it comes to grade adhesion. But if you run dcc mode, you should be fine. Running down the grade is easier but you may need to apply move brakes or take an extra engine for the dynamics
@@axis3039 I mean, can you really blame them? It’s very hard to get accurate measurements since the right-of-way has been reclaimed by the land, and soon, the grade won’t even exist anymore since it’s being made into a trail. Personally, I’ve never met anyone who uses realistic mode, since dcc is more beginner friendly, but you can just swap the enginespec and you should be good to go.
@@CarolinaSpecial-No.1397 611 slipped due to the sanders getting clogged iirc
@@EngineerDaylight That makes a lot more sense now, it's a shame it won't ever traverse Saluda again now that it's being made into a trail, but hey, at least it got to run on Old Fort Loops one last time.
