    Kenny Rogers Lady Reaction
    1. I love the flow of the song.
    2. Is this the beginning of the power ballad?
    I looked it up and I think I'm off. I don't think this is the start of it but I def think this could be considered a precursor to it.

      My guess is no i am old enough to recall that era. I would suggest the power ballads started in 70s. Clive Davis stated that one of the reasons he signed Dionne Warwick because he was getting tons of demos which needed big vocals singers. But the 80s was the epic period of power ballads.

    Also, more of his best love songs are "She Believes In Me", "You Decorated My Life", "Through The Years", "Sweet Music Man", "I Don't Need You", jeez, the list goes on and on. He was a legend in his own time for sure. Thank you for checking out Kenny Rogers! Awesome!

    By far my favorite Kenny Rogers song - When Lionel was the lead for the Commodores he pitched this song to them and they turned it down - Kenny accepted and it became a world wide hit.

    There have always been love songs, which is what this is. Power Ballad the term, is specific to bands that were known for having loud rock songs. Rock bands and for the most part Heavy Metal bands. The first acknowledged power ballad is Open Arms by Journey. Later Power Ballads were Heavy Metal bands (more specifically Hair Metal) like Every Rose Has It's Thorn by Poison.

    My very first boyfriend dedicated this song to me. He actually meant it. But I was so young and clueless. When we met up again 8 years later at my sister’s wedding, I had been married a year to my college sweetheart.
    This first boyfriend, still friends with my brother, asked me for a dance. He asked me half way through the dance why I never married him instead. He said he asked me to marry him through this song. You know what? 42 years later, I bet if I had married him, we would still be married today. Our families are still good friends, and he has always been a sweet guy. So glad he finally married and has two sons. Still married to their mom 23 years later.

    If you want a power ballad "Faithfully" by Journey fits the bill.

    Random comment, note the name. The brother of my uncle's wife is a country music producer that works with Lionel Richie. He knows his sister loves Lionel so he asked him to call her once. It made her very 😊 .
    That really doesn't have anything to do with this video. I do miss Kenny. RIP.

    Kenny Rodgers has been around since the 60s he is so good💞💞. Bee gets wrote a song for Kenny. And Kenny said it should be a duet. Barry said ok. But who? Kenny said dolly part in. The song was a hit. (Islands in the stream).💖💖💖

      Kenny Rogers has stated in an interview that when recording that song for the album, he had been singing it so much that he didn't like the song or want to include on the album. Barry Gibb suggested that it needed Dolly and she just happened to be in the building. She joined in...the rest is magical music history.

    A power ballad is a "ballad" or soft rock/mellow rock that incorporates elements of hard rock/metal within its structure. An excellent example of this is "Winds of Change" by the Scorpions that was released in 1981. A note on the song: I was still active duty military (24 1/2 years) when the Berlin wall came down. That was a very profound and emotional event in history for those of us, and our families, who stood ready to go to war against that wall and what is stood for. Here is a link to the song if you would like to hear it. ua-cam.com/video/n4RjJKxsamQ/v-deo.html

    • @jaybrielakoi7747
      @jaybrielakoi7747  4 роки тому +1

      Ohhh man. See when. I was active duty the worry was North Korea. We all know when North Korea attacks Seoul will be leveled but prepping and getting there to push back the North Koreans will be a bad war especially if it's winter.

    • @dinodasbunce6224
      @dinodasbunce6224 4 роки тому

      @@jaybrielakoi7747 Wow man, the situation in Korea is insane. Like you said, if North Korea makes on move on the south, Seoul is doomed. I never made it to PACAF, I did spend 14 years in Europe though. I spent 10 years in the Netherlands and 4 years in Germany. Oh, I just realized that I put the wrong release date for "Wind of Change" it came out in 1990. Just one more little tidbit, I play euphonium too, bass clef. Since you went from trumpet to euphonium I imagine that you play treble clef.

      @seanjohnson6186 4 роки тому +1

      Jaybriel Akoi I just notice how he has the microphone close to his mouth then to for a softer sound he pulls it down to almost an arms length. Most professional singers do know about mic placement but this video gives a good view of it. By the way Kenny is someone I have enjoyed listening to for many, many years.

    Granted it is strong, but not what I would think of as a power ballad. That tended to refer to more rock-centric tunes. This is more pop-oriented.
