When he wanted to try a solo career without the well established group, The Commodores, was one of the scariest and best decisions of his career. I liked the Commodores music, but I "Truly" love Lionel Richie's solo music even more, Lionel also seems like one genuinely all around cool dude. He is in my opinion, the best judge American Idol has ever had.
Fred needs to be interviewed and mentioned in interviews alongside the hosts. He literally sets the tone for their auditions. He has to be on point so sharp to do that.
