In all of the films, through all of the years... This is where we get to see Gene's actual legs. Worth it!

It was a way for Gene to distinguish himself from Fred, who stayed covered up above and below the waist, as well as always sporting a piece. Don't think Kelly got many Best Dressed Man awards, however.

Gene Kelly's athleticism is on great display here and proves why he was one of cinema's great dance masters. It is interesting that apart from his 1948 Three Musketeers movie he never parlayed his talents into more swashbuckling action films the way Burt Lancaster did, but then we would have missed out on An American in Paris, Singing in the Rain, Brigadoon and all of his other great 50s classics! If Kelly was working today, one fears he would have gone the same route as Barishnikov and Patrick Swayze who never really got great cinematic showcases for their dance talents. Does anyone agree?

The difference between Fred Astaire and Gene is that Fred needed a woman to dance with to make his dancing sexy.
Gene was sexy on his own.

Fred’s solo numbers are amazing, but none of those were sexy.

Let's remember that Vincent Minelli came up with the dance sequence! No wayyyyy was he straight!! Still, I love how Judy Garland fantasizes about Gene as a pirate..... with herself as a mule???

He was just so sexy and funny and charismatic and so athletic he made it all look so easy. I grew up watching all these great movies. I miss him!

Yep this was one of his best!. It shows how powerful his muscles were to carry out all those dance scenes and up to this movie, covered up! Shame on those old movie studios who made him hide such assets. He still takes my breathe away!

Fantastic dance scene by Gene. He is so sexy here. Those beautiful legs He should have been allowed to show them off in some of his other movies. Great film.

Wow. I just watched this again. Ballet is making a comeback in a really good way. I just saw someone close to Mr. Kelly. Close enough that I got tingles. Still, Gene is so focused. I don't think I've ever seen a dancer care more.

Gene Kelly's mastery of weaponry leads me to believe that he could've handed out many a behind kicking on dudes who tried to pick a fight with him!

OK while al of you ogle Gene Kellys legs ( Im straight but dayum theyre good!) heres something else to admire.... ( almost) no editing. Long 2 minute takes that look great but must have weeks of rehearsal to time the lighting and fireworks..... imagine this as a star wars lightsaber scene

I just watched this again, and still am drooling. Yet, now, when I see the rabbit ears, I think of Louise on "Bob's Burgers". I wonder what she would have said in Judy's position.

I wonder how the character Louise on "Bob's Burgers" would react to having her "ears" cut off like that. Shout out to Kristen Schall for a beautiful and uncomfortably like my youth performance. Both are winners. One is a character, and the other is a crazy good actress. I love her on 30 Rock and Wilfred (the latter). I can't wait for more uncomfortable and challenging situations.

I saw this movie first on the late late late movie on broadcast tv in the 1970s. Gene was at his best but the jerks made Judy look like a cupee doll blondie awful thing. Really awful. Gene was outstanding. People who hated Judy made her look God-awful.
Still one of my favs because I love Gene. (PS - there were late late broadcast movies - before cable (and light-years before VCR and/or TiVo - which people who couldnt sleep stayed up to watch.) Hashtag what be broadcast? Also, what be a cole porter dud? Judy..., Cole Porter..., Gene Kelly... -- and the only good part was Gene! I believe one of the most graceful athletes for the last 300 years. Love the movie for what it is. (Really who can stink up a Cole Porter song and a Judy ballad? Only Hollywood!.)
