- Judy Garland’s biographer, John Fricke offered excellent background and commentary for “The Pirate” dvd. Here are a few of my favorite behind the scene stories about the stars Gene Kelly & Judy Garland.

How we would all FREAK out if someone at the studio had hidden the Voodoo negative, and sometime soon we discover it in some basement.... :') My existence would be complete.
I loved this movie I wish they would’ve kept the Voodoo scene in!!
THE PIRATE !! One of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE ! Had The Pleasure ,! Of Watching it On A BIG Screen ,! Cinema ! Back inThe 80's .in a Double Bill !!🙄 Whith SUMMERSTOCK !🧡🧡 A An OVERDOSE ! Of PLEASURE 😍😍
😭😭😭 my heart .. they are so perfect together ❤️
Also I would do A LOT to see this Voodoo scene - I'm so upset that they didn't leave it in 😂
I still have a dream that some cameraman or technician working on the movie saw the value of it after being asked to destroy it. Maybe a copy of it is sitting on a shelf in a vault somewhere waiting to be rediscovered...maybe :)
@@mostlydaydreaming2983 omg me too! I really hope so 🍀😂 until then I'll try to watch the scene in my mind haha
@@mostlydaydreaming2983🙏 WE CAN ! ONLY ! DREAM !!!!!!🧡

Omfg this is amazing ❤ The Voodoo soundtrack can be found on UA-cam but the negative was incinerated at Mayers request I think!
I would love to see the original scene! I actually did think their kiss at the end of the scene was quite steamy! 🔥
It was! Not sure how it got past the censors!
I'd give anything to see that original Voodoo number
Thank you. This was beautiful to see and hear.
I love this move so much, thanks for this!
I thought that performance was such a surprise already! Like "Wauw, they are really going "Id" and "Subconscious" with that little obedient, modest, bride-to-groom-not-of-her-choice-to-be! I didn't know Judy Garland ever did stuff like this!"
It oozed unleashed powers even in it's apparently very censored version.
I would love to see what has been cut out, but really, the aura, or mood, or what you'd call it, is palpable even as is.
❤❤❤😢🌹🌹🌹
That mood is also present when in the end [SPOILER ALERT] she sings a pretend-hypnotized song about her longing for the pirate and end up sliding down with her back to a pole, singing/moaning "Oh ... oh ... oh ..." 😇
