I like how Mr. Davison seemed to approach the Shivaree from more of an anthropologic stance than his poor hapless, city-slicker character Bob had done- and oddly even seemed to have some disdain for his own character while admiring the Waltons'. ..rite of passage! Yes, it's true that Mr. Hamner made sure that EACH one of the eleven regulars from Zeb to Elizabeth would get their chance to shine and show some unexpected facets in their individual characters. Hey kiddo, I'm thankful you kids had each other for every stepping stone of your Walton years and that Michael and Ralph were the hands that held those stones steady for yall. Loved listening to this segment with Bruce! He's such a real person. Hugs to ya, kiddo
I like how Bruce stayed way from the Hollywood hype and kept his integrity. You can tell loves the industry and chose to set his own path. I haven't seen a bad project Bruce has been in. Thank you both !
Bruce sounds like a nice down to earth person. Once again Judy you have interviewed a person I would say has worked with Hollywood Royalty. Worked with Lucy and Jane Fonda. He had and still has an amazing career.
Wow,did I enjoy this, and is Bruce Davison, for such an accomplished actor with an extensive resume, such a down to earth, humble, and comes across as such a nice guy! A type of actor that would be probably easy to work with. This, came across in your chat with him. It was moving how you related so we'll to each other, sharing professional and personal experiences. ☺️
What a delight! I remember Dino, Desi, and Billy on Ed Sullivan when I was a teen. I had to look up Charles Durning and I cried. My father was a D-Day veteran and was on a ship during that time. Luckily, he wasn’t wounded. But he did serve on Omaha Beach, southern invasion of France, Africa, Italy, and in the Pacific on Pearl Harbor. He spoke about it to groups too. Thanks for sharing, Bruce!! I would have never known.
What an absolute joy to watch this segment. Fun fact, when I watched the Shivaree episode for the first time, I thought it would be about the Hindu god Lord Shiva😂. It was a great episode and I still remember that wonderful serenade at the end. Thank you Judy, you keep getting it right and always will. Best wishes as always from your waltonian superfan in a cooler England😉
Wow, this was a great interview Judy with Bruce Davison. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed watching Bruce play on The Waltons and he is very talented! Thanks for all you do Judy in putting these together. These segments are GREAT!
How wonderful to see. Bruce again! I was grown when The Walton’s began airing and have loved it since. I am still an avid fan, watching each weekday on MeTV. I grew up and live again in the New York Metropolitan area so a Shivaree was unknown in this area of many immigrants. When I married, 48 years ago, I moved to a very small, agrarian community in North Florida & wondered if that would take place, however, my then husband had not lived in the area, his parents were natives. I will be looking for Bruce’s work on different platforms. What a Grand 2 episodes! Thanks, again.
Enjoy the chat session with Bruce always remembered him in the wedding episode I don't remember the title of the when Olivia young Olivia gets married and then the sad episode the loss where she of course tells us of his death thank you Judy for a wonderful chat session as always
When I was a child, I heard some men talk about the shivaree here in Tennessee. But I never knew of anyone who had one. My youngest sister and her husband got married at camp. His buddies tied him to the diving board and left him. This was before the wedding. I think Richard did "Streamers" at the same time he was doing 'The Return' episode of "The Waltons". I believe he worked day and night. Unless he did two Mondays like the first reunion special in the 90s. Mary Beth was in a child actor group for awhile with Tabitha from "Bewitched". I think Hume Cronyn won an Emmy for the "...White Dog...", a Hallmark movie. Judy, I did get to see the one that you did about Ralph Waite and wrote something in it. What about your friend in 'The Wing Walker'? She was at the 40th. Have you interviewed her?
Not sure exactly when Streamers was. I did respond to your question on Ralph. Lee Purcell shared a video message when I covered The Wingwalker. I may see about having her come guest for a chat.
Great interview--both parts. I was really happy to hear a nod to Paul Petersen and Tony Dow who were important to A MINOR CONSIDERATION. Paul and Rana are great people, and I just know all of you (former child actors) will pick up the torch down the road. I know Alison certainly is playing a major role in this important organization.
That was quite a Part 2! So many fascinating areas covered. I had forgotten all about his role in "Mame" & I especially loved hearing the stories of that era. Had he made it to California a few years earlier it may have been Dino, Desi, & Bruce as the singing trio. But my favorite was to see how proud he was of his daughter. Talent runs in the family and something tells me she will be just fine. Although I know the fatherly impulse to help will always be present.
Judy I think that was one of the best interviews that you have done so far. Bruce was wonderful as a guest. Well I don't know about shivarees still being popular but one trend that I could do without is the overpriced weddings. A friend of mine took me aside and said "You know Bill I spent $40,000 on my daughter's wedding and the marriage didn't last a year." That's sort of like betting the ranch on a three legged horse. My youngest gets married this weekend on a farm and the kids have done most of the planning and payments themselves with a contribution from both sets of parents. But they are doing it outside in a farm field. But i do have a surprise for them, Evidently the surgery on my lung has restarted something as I spent the last week or so shopping for a suit, going out to eat, and spending time out at the farm without needing the wheel chair or any oxygen tanks, only my pocket inhaler, The kids have been trying to set up the wedding to make it easier for me to get around, even borrowing a golf cart. But I may get to surprise them on Saturday by walking her down the aisle and even dancing with her.
Judy & Bruce, amazing interview! I remember Bruce from so many TV shows. I do remember "Harry and the Hendersons." I hope this doesn't offend Bruce, but a couple of my favorites in recent years are 2 of his Hallmark movies. Thank you both for sharing your gifts w us.

I grew up in the same years as you I know how difficult those rabidly changing years were, I'm sure you had your challenges in the public eye, especially at school, with so many kids knowing who you were. Congratulations on coming out one the other side unscathed. I had a classmate named Debbie Carrington in school here in San Jose, she was a dwarf she did a few movies. Debbie was in Total Recall, and played some Ewok roles. She's passed, was born in 1959. On a happier note yes we do have a whole lotta good years ahead. Fun fact , a child born today has a life expectancy of 120 years, yep it's true. I read it in National Geographic over twenty years ago ! Have a great day and a long life. : )
I Really enjoyed this. I hope you do another session with him in the future. He's Right, You are a Beautiful Person inside and out. God Bless and take care Judy. ♥
This segment was so much fun and interesting to watch. I especially found your point about that the contradictions in the characters like when John Boy seemed so pleased with the idea of the shivaree interesting. This is what made the Waltons so relatable,in the sense that the characters were only human after all,and to me it is why the series was not too sugar sweet. I also remember when John Boy also showed his less than perfect side,in The Burn Out episode. What was it that Earl Hamner once said,to er was to be human? and this is why we relate to the Waltons, still to this day. What do you think,Judy?
I love your take on it and I agree. People aren’t perfect, most of us try to do our best, but we still make mistakes, errors in judgment etc. And I think The Waltons reflected this.
Here's me telling you all about Kingdom Hospital in Part one and Here's you covering it in Part 2. I'm so glad it was a good experience for him. It's so underrated!
In 1964, my aunt and uncle were given a shivered (spelling) by the neiborhood. Aunt rode in a wheel barrow pushed by my Uncle. It was tradition in south central IL.
I really enjoyed this interview with Bruce Davison! Thanks Judy and Bruce! On a side note, my husband Lee toured with the show Mame, with Celeste Holm and Loretta Switt, in '67 - '68. He was a child actor whose stage name was Lee Franklin. Sadly, Lee passed away in 2006.
@@judynorton2598 Thank you Judy. He also toured with Oliver! (with Davy Jones), The Rothchilds and others. I'm sure that if social media had taken off sooner, Lee would have loved talking about his early career! There were no Waltons connections that I know of though. :-)
@@daylilyz I hope he enjoyed all the wonderful shows he was a part of - and that his life was fulfilling on many levels both professional and personal.
@@judynorton2598 Oh yes, he did surely enjoy talking about his show business days and all the people he had met! After dabbling in other careers, later on he enjoyed his work as an EMT. :-)
This is a superior interview Judy. I won’t tease you this week, because as I’ve always noted; I honestly believe your treatment of your guests produces the best results. You should be on 60 Minutes or any other well known interview show. 😇
So interesting that he worked with Tony Dow, and so cool that you did theater together Judy. I still watch Leave it To Beaver!! Great show!! Love Tony!!❤️ And Lucy!!! How incredible that he got to work with her, what an amazing experience. It’s awesome that he got to meet Frank Sinatra!! What a legendary iconic talent!!❤️
Bruce, thanks for all your stories, and also all your work over the years. I'll have to catch up on some of his work that I've missed. Again, as someone who worked in theatre on the crew, I can tell, Bruce is one of those folks that makes a show fun and compelling to watch and hear 50, 60 or more times.
Great part 2 of this interview, Bruce Davison is such a talented actor. Just saw him in a movie called Camera, so good! Thank you Judy, love your channel❤
I really enjoyed this interview! I especially enjoyed the bit at the end about our legacies. I'm not sure why, but it reminded me of something I came across online asking who I would want to narrate my life story if Morgan Freeman wasn't available. My answer was Harpo Marx.
Judy and Bruce, hello, and thank you for part 2! I had no idea you worked with Tony Dow and one of my favorites, Lucy. It must have been great working for her. She was amazing. I watched a Star Trek documentary and found out she put all of her money behind the show to get it started. Do you and Dezi still keep in touch? This was an amazing part 2. Thank you both so so much!! 🥰
This speaks to the quality of the actor, but the episode Mr. Davison was in was always tense one for me to watch because of all his character Bob had to endure and how angry it made him and tenseness and difficulty it caused between him and his bride Olivia. Kudos
Thank you for posting Judy.I have loved the Waltons since i was a little girl in England..now i watch the Waltons as a mother with my own 9 year old who also loves it.❤
I wish all in theater arts, creating for stage or screen, including through technical services, could know they are touching people in “basic, human” and lasting ways! These gifts also reach people in moments and periods of isolation and vulnerability. This conversation is so moving and appreciated. I love hearing the desires expressed to provide these enriching connections to audiences ~ and to one’s own children and colleagues. An Arthur Miller comment I most remember (I think in an interview on PBS with Charlie Rose) is that writers had to finally overcome their delusion that their writing would change the world. I think he’s wrong. All of these arts do change the world, often vitally. (Though to expect that may be a hindrance to imaginative flow.) Thank you both so much ~ for caring and for doing the work to connect us. You help us feel our value and move us toward worlds of possibility!
Judy, his stories on Lucy were exactly what I've read about. I've been a HUGE fan of her my entire life. I love Lucy is still something that cheers me up. But, I know that Desi hurt her to the core and she never recovered from it. That was made clear in the books I read about her. Now I do have one question. I love Tony Dow and still grieve his loss. He even became a woodworker before he died. Something I cherish since I build furniture. So I connect with him. Since you worked with him, can you think about some stories about him and share them. I'll take an ask Judy or a reply. Either way, your time is valuable and I love what you are doing. You are a great human being for doing this and I never take you for granted. Cheers! p.s. On vacation for 11 days so I'll miss a few Judy episodes. I have a lot to catch up on :)
Tony did sculpting in various materials - wood and bronze, I think. He had this HUGE dog. I can’t recall the breed, but long coat that was almost ringlets. Enjoy your vacation.
Very well done. He's very detailed, & fun to listen to. We need more people like him, he helps us all to want to go forward in our lives with our inner talents. God Bless his heart. What a wonderful God loving gentleman. Speaking of people with talents, my Cousin Eddie wrote a story, can he send his story to you? Let me know. Debbie
So glad you enjoyed hearing Bruce’s stories. I wouldn’t be able to be of any help on Eddie’s story, if that is your question? Or did you just want to share how talented he is?
@@judynorton2598 Yes, both, I am hopeful that you can tell him where to send his story. Because I don't know where to tell him to send his story. Could you at least tell him where to send it? His Sister "Proof Read" it for him. Question now is do you know anyone in the business that's interested in new material & willing to read it to consider his story for work for hire? I'm praying you can help, 🙏 . Deb in KY I don't want you to think that I'm trying to pressure you into anything, do as you please, I'm just trying to help him.
@@judynorton2598 I was hoping you would actually read my Cousins story, & if not interested in his story if you'd be kind enough to tell him where to send his story. Would you at least tell him where to send his story? Please?
@@judynorton2598 could you at least give me the name of someone you know that is legit that will read my cousin Eddie's story & consider it for a Movie or perhaps a Tv Series???
You must have enjoyed doing theatre as a youth, Judy. I would have loved it if I was not so terrified of a stranger audience! But I would practice play-acting regularly in my bedroom and then make tickets for my family to attend. I didn't charge for the performance, but in retrospect should have. 🤣🤣🤣
Wonderful interview, Judy. I appreciate the talents of you and Bruce, and thank you both for sharing them with us over the years. Best Wishes to both of you, and thanks for your time.
Loved this interview! May be one of my favorites. Mr. Davison is a good man, a gifted actor, a multi-faceted artist & a generally all around nice person. Such a great treat listening to him. Thank you so much for sharing!
What another WONDERFUL part 2. Loved it all! Bruce is so humble. Thank you actors and artists and musicians and singers for enriching our lives and helping to beautify the world. Much needed!!! ❤🎉❤
Wow! Your interview with Bruce Davison was awesome. It was the best interview I've ever seen . I watched it twice. He is such a nice person. Judy, you do such a great job.
What an acting life Davison has led - wow! Thanks for the 2-part interview. Was happy to learn you later acted in a movie with him as director, though sorry one scene was cut. Great interview, Judy!
Just when I think, your guest interviews couldn't get more interesting, you succeed in making magic happen. There is so much to learn from your guests, and each one has remained so humble, and genuine. Thank you Bruce and Judy for your most interesting interview.
Judy I live in Jackson Wyoming could you share in the future describing how you and the kids and everybody filmed the movie and being in Jackson the winter of 1971/72
We all had such fun filming in Jackson Hole. Such a beautiful area. I spoke a bit about it in talking about filming The Homecoming. Here is that link: ua-cam.com/video/Of-BBQBL-x0/v-deo.html
What an engaging two part interview with Bruce! I thoroughly enjoyed your conversation with him...from his memories of the Waltons to his stories about Lucy (yes, I LOVE LUCY!). I "googled" him - I didn't realize what an extensive career he has had, but it turns out I have seen him in things, not realizing I knew him from the Waltons (like his work on Ozark!). I love that he whipped out his phone to show you his daughter and how proud he is of her! Thank you, Judy for bringing us these wonderful episodes.🥰
Love the audition advice Charles Durning gave "Gives ya a chance to act!" I had a friend who once told me something similar about auditions and being considered for roles..."Well at least you get to play it for a few minutes" It's easy to forget these things when you badly want a role. Great interview Judy. Thanks!💖
That was so nice to hear all about Bruce. I had no idea about how much he has done. His story of Lucy was priceless. Loved it! And Mr. Sinatra. Wow! That would be a memory to never forget. Thank you for the conversation.
Fascinating conversation! Im watching and listening a little at a time! So good to hear such lovely and true praise of fellow actors, RT and Charles Durning! I'd surmise Mr Davison is a very safe person to act with on stage and film too! Generosity comes through in the interview! Oh, how tactful re the Shiveree itself! Oye! What a horrible trauma for poor Bob! It was disappointing the lovely couple of Olivia and Bob did not continue. Ok! Will listen more a bit later! Judy is the best interviewer! Real class! ❤
He was so right many child actors destroyed by harsh system , so great he's still working actor
Yes - it can be a very tough business and especially for children. Sadly many don’t deal well emotionally with the harsher sides of it.

Thank-you Nice Video

Our pleasure!
He was really good in Ozark series.
This is a superior interview Judy. I won’t tease you this week, because as I’ve always noted; I honestly believe your treatment of your guests produces the best results. You should be on 60 Minutes or any other well known interview show. 😇
Thank you so much. I’m always to grateful guests are willing to come join me.

I always had a crush on Tony Dow! I actually watched Leave it to Beaver yesterday.
Another guest who has so many great stories.
His work is always so good. 🥰
Excellent conversation. Thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure.
Great part 2 of this interview, Bruce Davison is such a talented actor. Just saw him in a movie called Camera, so good! Thank you Judy, love your channel❤
Thank you so much. So glad you enjoyed this.
I really enjoyed this interview! I especially enjoyed the bit at the end about our legacies. I'm not sure why, but it reminded me of something I came across online asking who I would want to narrate my life story if Morgan Freeman wasn't available. My answer was Harpo Marx.
Sounds like your life story has included a wonderful sense of humor :)
@@judynorton2598 Thank you.
Kudos
So true. A good actor can make you believe their character even when it’s not like the person really is.
Amazing interview
Thanks for joining us.
Thank you for posting Judy.I have loved the Waltons since i was a little girl in England..now i watch the Waltons as a mother with my own 9 year old who also loves it.❤
That is so great to hear. Thank you.

Such great stories. Thanks so much, Judy, for all the wonderful interviews.
Glad you like them! Thank you for watching.
Superb interview, hon!! Priceless on so many levels!
Thank you so much.
My mom is from WV. They called it a “ a Serenade”. If you didn’t give candy or pennies to the crowd you’d get a prank .
That sounds a little more like fun as opposed to traumatic :)
Hi Judy you tube channel Love my favorite one fan BIG 💖 The Waltons Love my favorite one fan BIG 💖💖💖💖🎶
Thank you!
(Though to expect that may be a hindrance to imaginative flow.)
Thank you both so much ~ for caring and for doing the work to connect us. You help us feel our value and move us toward worlds of possibility!
Thank you so much for your wonderful words. Means a lot to me.
Deb in KY
I don't want you to think that I'm trying to pressure you into anything, do as you please, I'm just trying to help him.
Oh my word - he is just the sweetest, sweetest person - what a lovely friend to have Judy.
Absolutely. He’s a real gem.
You must have enjoyed doing theatre as a youth, Judy. I would have loved it if I was not so terrified of a stranger audience! But I would practice play-acting regularly in my bedroom and then make tickets for my family to attend. I didn't charge for the performance, but in retrospect should have. 🤣🤣🤣
I did have a great time. I love that you performed for your family.
Really Great Show! Like Bruce!
Isn’t he fun? Such a nice man.
I love hearing what both you and your guest have been doing through the years. Great context! We just watched, 'The Carnival' last night.
Awesome! Thank you!
Interesting post
Glad you enjoyed it
I wish that they make a new Walton Show. Like Walton The Next Generation
🥰

What a great episode. So much insight into the actors. So true that the Waltons were real people. So much of each episode were relatable
Thanks Judy.
Thank you so much.
Thankyou Judy for interviewing Bruce Davison. He's a gifted actor.I loved him in portraying his character in this episode.
He is such a wonderful actor and person.
Wonderful interview, Judy. I appreciate the talents of you and Bruce, and thank you both for sharing them with us over the years. Best Wishes to both of you, and thanks for your time.
Thank you so much.
*Judy, part 2 with Bruce Davison was absolutely fabulous. Thank you for having amazing guests on.🙂nz*

Loved this interview! May be one of my favorites. Mr. Davison is a good man, a gifted actor, a multi-faceted artist & a generally all around nice person. Such a great treat listening to him. Thank you so much for sharing!
Couldn’t have said it better myself :)
I could have listened to him for another three hours!
I understand! Me too 🥰

I'm here for the conclusion of your interview with Bruce Davison and hearing
about more of his career and what he is doing now thank you Judy.🇺🇲📺🇺🇲
Wonderful. Enjoy!
What another WONDERFUL part 2. Loved it all! Bruce is so humble. Thank you actors and artists and musicians and singers for enriching our lives and helping to beautify the world. Much needed!!! ❤🎉❤
Thank you so much.
Wow! Your interview with Bruce Davison was awesome.
It was the best interview I've ever seen . I watched it twice.
He is such a nice person.
Judy, you do such a great job.
Thanks so much for joining us.
What an acting life Davison has led - wow! Thanks for the 2-part interview. Was happy to learn you later acted in a movie with him as director, though sorry one scene was cut. Great interview, Judy!
Thanks for joining us.
I remember this episode. One of my favorites. I've watched movies with Bruce because of the shivaree.
I’m so happy to hear that.
Just when I think, your guest interviews couldn't get more interesting, you succeed in making magic happen. There is so much to learn from your guests, and each one has remained so humble, and genuine. Thank you Bruce and Judy for your most interesting interview.
Our pleasure. Thanks so much for watching and your kind comments.
A person first, a dad, a family man… and a consummate actor.
@@judynorton2598 🥰
I was born on Lucy's birthday - Aug. 6th
Very cool.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍💒
Love the audition advice Charles Durning gave "Gives ya a chance to act!" I had a friend who once told me something similar about auditions and being considered for roles..."Well at least you get to play it for a few minutes" It's easy to forget these things when you badly want a role. Great interview Judy. Thanks!💖
Very true. The challenge is to keep that positive perspective on it when you don’t land a role you really wanted, but great advice.
I’m hoping you can do an interview with Paul Hamner. It would be neat listening to his memories growing up in Virginia and the tv show.
Nice idea. I’ll have to see if I can connect with him.
That was so nice to hear all about Bruce. I had no idea about how much he has done. His story of Lucy was priceless. Loved it! And Mr. Sinatra. Wow! That would be a memory to never forget. Thank you for the conversation.
So glad you enjoyed it.
Real class! ❤
Thank you so much, Holly.
Thank you Judy for interviewing Bruce Davison. Bruce was in another favorite Christmas Clasic The Gathering with Ed Asner and Maureen Stapleton.
So much great work in his career. Thanks for joining us.
Great interview again, he has worked wt so many people.
So true. Great career and still going strong.
