I have a 2019 Grizzly 700 XTR which I mounted an American Eagle Snowplow to.....couple of mods with my machine is I run the Camo tracks year round on my atv. and the snow plow is a front mount. I ran a yamaha big bear 400 with a 4ft blade for a couple years. drawbacks to the blade and mount you show is the blade has a fixed height you can bring it up, and the atv /plow will allow you to push snow to a pile, but not "up" onto a pile, so you end up with a large horizontal pile of snow. The setup I am running this year with the new machine, has no problem pushing snow with a 66" blade and side wings mounted to gather the snow.. No issues with amount of snow, and has no issuing raising the plow over 2 ft with the front mount, but with the tracks able to push the snow and climb a pile, created a snow pile of over 6 ft so far that the kids in the neighborhood love to play on. My opinion from using both....avoid the undermount plow setups, front mounts so much easier to hook and unhook, add tracks to atv for snow and mud play.....then you can really enjoy year round. good review though, almost wants to make me get everything out and film my own review of my setup....love my beast!!!
I bought my Kodiak 450 new in 2005 to hunt my property in the Poconos Mountains, and because I bought it in January it came with a Warn winch and plow. It has been used hard and put away wet. It has been durable, maintenance friendly, and the only parts I have changed were spark plugs, oil, and filters. I see the plow arrangement hasn't changed since then, but it works just fine. This machine is now working on my farm in Missouri with the same tires and plastic. It is one tough machine. Yamaha's new machines should be just as tough.
I've always loved Yamaha, I've had a few of them over the years 4 4-wheelers, 2 Ski-doos, 1 outboard, and a '67 street and dirt. If I'm being honest I haven't really considered a new Yamaha as an option because they don't really have a good mud package or the power of other manufacturers. Reliability wise, you can't beat Yamaha though.
I have a Yamaha Kodak 400 and it’s totally indestructible, just yesterday I was plowing 2ft. Of snow no problem, Yamaha does such a great job with their four wheelers, great video guys.
Do not waste time with that mid mount,. I ve got the pro vantage front mount and it's night and day difference , no ground clearance issues at all . I ve been using it since 2014 when I bought the machine new and I do 3. 200' driveways only thing that had to get replaced was the cutting edge.
Excellent video. Pro Vantage plow is the gold standard. But even this one has some problems. It takes a while to put on. It was hard for him to take out the cotter pins because there is no graphite grease on them. I coated them with dry lube. There is also no lube on the red lever assembly, which is why he had trouble getting it to lock back into place. I sprayed dry lube here. There is also no lube on the base plate that lets you angle the blade which makes it hard to change blade angle. I put lithium grease under the baseplate. Those skids are also metal base and will scratch up paved driveways. I put some felt sheets under them. The pin that holds the winch to the plow also breaks easily. I made my own assembly here. I modded my Pro Vantage to remedy these problems. And now it is a great plow and I can clear snow off of big paved driveways easily. Still the best and I would not consider buying something else.
I have a 2011 Grizzly 700 EPS. I friggen love it! I pull trees out of the woods with the winch. I have a trailer that i fill to the brim with gravel for my driveway. I also push a 300-400lb 50" snowblower up my driveway, in the snow belt of NY! I love the darn thing. It has tons of torque. The only drawback for mine is that it have 1500 hrs on the stock tires and they are ready for an upgrade. I love the "rough, coarse" sounding engine. It is a 700 thumper! There is nothing refined about that. :)
If you go a little bit faster with the plow at an angle the snow seems to push to the side more easily, and if you are sure it is a smooth surface and go really fast the plow will slightly throw the snow. Great review and info!
I went to the Yamaha demo days and everything on the grizzly is good except the lack of power. Good job Steven, keep up the good videos and correct Canadian pronunciation
I had to chuckle when you got to the MSRP Pricing: 2019 prices on a 2012 quad design. I'll pass. Yamaha is lolling its customer base into a semi comatose state, while they continually and hopefully wait for the arrival of the 100 HP twin. I know a guy who has been waiting for for this announcement since he was 35. He's now 65.
It is not needed. I bought a brand new Grizzly in 2018 and it has more than enough power for any trails in the eastern USA. It most certainly does not need a 100 HP Twin.
I bought a cheaper quadrax plow for my older kodiak, it is a quick and easy disconnect. Pull the handle on the plow frame and it slides right off. To put it back on you line it up and push it back and it’s on. I would expect something easier from a factory option.
I have a 2020 and changing the preload to the stiffest setting made it so much better... better towing and less body roll but stock it road amazing especially if you like a comfy ride but for me the stiffer settings was so much better
My Kimpex click n go plow works a lot better with peddles to quickly disconnect and it reconnects using the winch and a minor amount of guidance. No getting down low and in the snow.
Great video Stephen, like always. Honest and like a real human. Lol I have the 2019 SE and I've never felt a need for more power. I'd love the 850 twin but only for being stupid from time to time. Keep up the great work! 👍
I have a 60" Kimpex Click n' Go 2 snow plow on my 2012 Grizzly 700 SE and it's fantastic. Even easier than the Warn plow to connect & disconnect. Now I just need to buy a bracket to be able to use it on my '16 Wolverine R-Spec also.
I had a 15 Grizzly for 3 years. Fun machine, but that short wheel base and big single cylinder low end torque was a problem on steep hills. Way to easy to pull the front tires of the ground, especially in 4wd low. I rolled mine twice, and almost rolled it a half dozen more. Needs a longer wheel base and twin cylinder with less down low and more mid range power.
For 2019 they started using an actual Yamaha engine I believe, so it’s sort of all new. Rumors say the previous year model used a Subaru engine that had minor problems.
Rajkiran Natarajan .. you’re correct, they discontinued the 708cc Subaru engine and went back to tried and true 686 Yamaha engine and gave it new mapping for better torque and HP
Les québécois prononcent YAMAO et les français prononcent YAMAA but nobody really pronounce the H For me it's YAMAHA, YA- MA- HA- The real prononciation is Ya-Ma-Ha beacause in japanese it's pronounced Ya-Ma-Ha and it means Mountain leaves (Feuilles de montagnes ou montagne de feuilles pour les francophones) In japanese "Yama" means "mountain" and "Ha" means "leaves" The compagny's name's from YAMAHA TORAKUSU, the founder of YAMAHA corporation
There may be some bigger boar, V-Twin, and Paralell twin motors out there.... with more power... but there is absolutly NO DOUBT..... That the Yamaha Grizzly is 100% the nicest, most refined looking big bore on the market.
So you made a comment about understeer how do you fix understeer on an ATV. I have a 2017 Honda Rancher and the back tires just push the front tires especially in the snow the only way to steer is to slow down.... BORING do i need better tires or is it just the machine? I have the standard tires still
I used a 2016 Grizzly 700 EPS LE for a few years to plow. It was fantastic, but eventually I upgraded to a Polaris General for the task. I still miss my Grizz though.
@@chozen_1309 I used the WARN 54” ProVantage plow system with a front mount bracket. There is a mid mount bracket if you want to avoid all of the plows weight being on the front of the machine. This would give you better traction, but I never had any issue with the front mount bracket. I had no choice but to use the front bracket because my Grizz had a full skid plate underneath it.
@@AV8R_1 ok thanks. I’m gonna do some research and see what I can find. I really appreciate it as it gets a bit overwhelming looking around online . At least now I have a direction to go in 🤙
Great review as always. You always so sound genuinely excited to be testing the machines, it's awesome. I love the look of the new Grizzly and the options are finally all there. The only thing missing, as mentioned, is a twin cylinder 850 or larger engine.
I have a model Grizzly very similar to yours there (2020 XTR). Can you possibly list exactly what all WARN parts are needed for this setup (like down to the part model numbers)? I started looking but the choices are overwhelming and I’m not sure exactly what will fit and work best. If I go with what you’re showing here, it would be pretty spot-on. Thanks.
hi man great video as always i would like to know what was the size of the plow you used? was it 54 or 60 inch ...thanks!! cant decide wich size to get and my dealer recommend 54 inch if I wont put tracks on
Come on Yamaha with Warn,...Warn is falling behind the times. They have had a lot of problems lately and even CanAm has switched ( for the most part ) to SuperWinch. When it comes to snow plows,..CanAm and Polaris have gone with the 'click and go' hook up for a while now. Reaching under a nice clean machine is maybe ok, but not realistic is it? Now I like Yamaha, this one's real machine with power, but that Warn system is OLD! Stephen , how the heck are you going to get ALL THAT SNOW removed in just one day??? I know, I know, this is a demonstration only. Stephen and TFL-O are good but they cannot control the weather, more's the pity! Thanks for this, Stephen.
great review friend. I got the same machine and am looking for the plow. what exactly do I need. is it just the center mount and the plow or are there any other mou ting brackets ? can you provide part numbers ?
Great bike, worth mentioning is the 686 Yamaha engine. Yamaha went back to their own engine in 2019 after many issues with the Fuji 700 they ran from 2016-2018. It's a basic bike with a great proven powertrain, one the best automatic transmissions in the business. Im non bias ride a 2019 Can Am 1000 XTP on tracks in eastern Canada. If and when Yamaha bring a V Twin I'll stick with my can am.
The Grizz really needs a 2 cylinder motor. The North American brands are pushing big horsepower but you'd have quite the machine if you match Yammies reliability with more power....
This WARN plow hooks up very much like my MOOSE PLOW. WARN uses round tubes. I don't think that's as strong as my MOOSE PLOW which has square tubes. This WARN also looks more flimsy then the MOOSE PLOW

grizzly is a tried and true machine. Love the high revving SOHC motor. If you are familiar with dirt bikes and the like, rebuilding them is easy.
We get that in Australia but no snow gear. No heater bits or the windshield, no plow either. Just the winch. And we call it yamaha like you do too.

Yeah seriously
looks like the grizzly does great plowing a few inches of snow.......would love to see how it does with a foot of snow on the ground,,,,just saying
