- First jam with my new Elektron Model:Cycles, a powerful FM groovebox!
New entry in my instruments arsenal, i choose this atypical groovebox beacause i think sounds different from other machines in this price range, offer a simplified but effective FM synthesis (that is great for a lot of modern electronic languages, like drum and bass) and a very complete sequencer. It have just 6 tracks but with the Preset Lock function you can load different sounds on the same track, that is useful, for example, for the drums: you can have in the same track the kick, the basic hat and the rimshot or a layer of the snare. Same thing with the synth, i loaded several growling sounds in each track so the basses can response to eachother. This is my very first approach so i will make more videos using more features in the future. Enjoy!

I appreciate it for its personality. The parameters have their own names, drums sounds doesn’t quite fit in 808 or 909 paradigm and all those little nuances. Put a sprinkle of analog compression on it and you ready to slay. Lovely

My guess from tinkering with FM, is probably just how LFO is routed to a bass. Still sick
Nice Jam... What the M:C & the M:S lack in options and possibilities compared to the Digitakt, Digitone or Syntakt, they gain in immediacy, simplicity and fun and are my favorites Elektron devices. Keep jamming and having fun my friend 😎

I had absolutely no idea that you could do basses like this outside of serum. I’ve been trying and have gotten some good results with a Virus, but nothing like this. This is next level. You gotta share how you did it!
I used Serum and i use a lot the Ableton Wavetable, you can get similar sounds with the M:C using gated notes and applying synced LFO to the various parameters available, this machine sounds synthetic and futuristic by his own :D
you can get sounds like this on basically anything with FM capabilities
