I just left the theater and I loved this movie! It was so camp, but also addressed the topic of death in a meaningful way. Coincidentally, it made a similar critique of how our American culture handles death similarly to the Midsommar (sp?) movie.
She was great at the horror-acting! I’d love to see her booked for something from one of the great horror directors of today like Jordan Peele, Mike Flanagan, etc.! 👻
this movie was really DAMN good! With some really funny scenes and laughs. The sets are so 80s good, yes, I am up for anything else Zelda does. Zelda has definitely picked up the gothic charm Tim Burton dropped in the past couple of years
The audience paid Lisa Frankenstein DUST but I loved it and I will be completely "I told you so!" once Zelda starts getting more momentum and people realise they should've been paying attention sooner. 😌
Finally a review that loved it as much as I did! I swear other reviwers were looking for horror, not a light horror theamed rom com. It was exactly the right movie for me. And thank you for explaining that joke! I was extrapolating it, but it's much better to hear the explanation. And as someone who was alive in the 80's, albeit a good bit younger than our protagonists, most of the slang makes perfect sense. Except the use of the word clutch. That was not used in the 80's that I can remember, at least not where I lived. I swear the actress slipped it in by mistake. It bothers me 😅
It felt very Heather's, corpse bride, and rocky horror. Hell, I even lost boys. It's a ball to the walls flim, which I think a lot of others didn't get. But as someone who adores those films, it hit just right. Will be obsessed with this film and make it my personality
Oh so many unfinished long running series ending in just meh or some just finishing leaving so much more that could keep something great going is what really upsets me mostly. I totally agree!
What's the hate on Cole Sprouse the man is transparent up right sarcastic and intelligent And doesn't fear to be his crazy self Shares his vulnerability and doesn't care about people's judgment And might I mention amazing actor and photographer Yeah People like Cole often intimidate people Doesn't matter he's living his best life and is a BADASS
I don't have any particular issue with him but I saw some tweets dismissing his presence in the film before it had been released (I couldn't say anything yet to praise his work in the film since the review embargo hadn't lifted). That's what I was referring to. 😆
I'm a sucker for Rom-Coms, Camp and horror movies. This movie just smashes ya in the head with all three. oh my lord, the scene in the car with Liza, she played horror so real. It grounded the movie so well. Cast her ASAP.
I don’t have a spoiler review for this film currently planned BUT I do have a broader video essay I want to make about a topic involving rom coms… maybe in April (it depends on how long it takes to do other videos that are ahead of it on my to-do list) and the thesis of that video will have multiple films as an example and one of them is Lisa Frankenstein. 😂
I streamed this film for the first time last weekend. It came in my mail on Blu-Ray yesterday bc I immediately ordered it for my collection. I absolutely adore this film, and I need a sequel. In my mind this is the sequel- Creature has such a beautiful grave. Who paid for it? HIS TWIN BROTHER! Bringing in Dylan Sprouse. Taffy has the necklace that Lisa gave to Creature and then to Taffy. The necklace brings Dylan Sprouse Creature 2 to Taffy through the link to CS Creature OG. Lisa and OG are out getting her some eyes and other bits for reanimation. Taffy figured this out, helps DS Creature become more lifelike while they search for Lisa and OGC, and she and DS Creature link up with the OG duo at the end and they live as a happily little bestie fam! Two Step sisters (Living Taffy and Undead Lisa) and the twin loves of their Afterlives. The end credits show Undead Janet crawling back to her home angry that she’ll have to shampoo the rugs bc she got them all muddy with grave gunk.
Yaaaaaay! I'm so happy to hear you liked it! Not enough people were giving this film the flowers it was owed. It was SO SO SO FUN and I enjoyed everything about it. I mean, I did my part to try to tell people to watch it but I'm a small channel so I can't singlehandedly sway the tides to make a movie successful at the box office.
toward the end of the film when Lisa and the Creature have their little off-screen "love" scene, it always makes me cry, they're so sweet to each other and it reminds me of my boyfriend and I, and how I hope we'll be in the future.
Yes, please do! The film bro critics are slating it (TASTELESS, PER USUAL) but it's the perfect movie for the people who want a rom com revival! It's also not TOO scary for people who don't typically partake in horror. I wanted to say a lot more about it but this was a "Please go see this movie at the cinema" review, not a "Let's talk about a movie we've all already seen" review. 😂

Just bought this movie on Apple movies & already watched it twice. Loved it.
I was in my teens and early twenties in the 80s, and I can assure you, they got everything right.... I loved this movie!
