If it’s not the loose I joint , it’s gotta be the torque converter partially engaged . Does the car feel like it wants to move when you have your foot on the brake ?
I've had the best luck with a new TPS sensor and playing around with the Throttle Cable adjustment to try to find a sweet spot. I'm scratching my head as to why these seem to have made the biggest impact. www.ih8mud.com/tech/80throttle.php Also of note is that the vehicle is on original springs and is sitting negative 1" of original ride height. I'm curious how much that binds up the drive train.
Change the transmission filter and fluid. If you are getting a delay when going into gear and hard shift, likely the issue.
I would try the IH8MUD forum if you haven’t already.
