    I have been using a Liquivac suction hand pump with a small tank built into it.
    Insert tube into oil filler opening, hand pump about eight times, open the valve, and all
    the oil gets sucked out into the built in tank. Very fast, and never spill a drop.
    Lowe’s sells them. Last forever $32.00. Just my two cents, hope it helps!

Just waiting for it to die before replacing it and it just won't quit. Also had an 07 Craftsman snowblower that lasted a decade as well with no oil changes ever. Only replaced that machine because other drive and control parts were breaking down.

      I've had a number of mechanics tell me to warm up an engine before changing the oil.

    • @tonytraverso468
      @tonytraverso468 8 років тому +8

      Yes, good advice. I was only commenting on the statement that the engine heat makes the oil MORE viscous. The heat makes the oil LESS viscous. The moral of the story: just say that the engine heat makes the oil easier to drain!

    • @fmueller1
      @fmueller1 6 років тому +7

      In case anybody still doesn't get it, viscous means having a thick, sticky consistency between solid and liquid. Heating up the engine makes the oil less viscous, which means it will run out faster.

    • @depth386
      @depth386 5 років тому +5

      @@edwuncleriii2286 For any maintenance on a lawn mower it is recommended to disconnect the ignition plug or otherwise prevent the possibility of the engine starting up prior to starting any work. This step would allow any work underneath. In my experience I often have to remove built up wet grass that builds up around the skirt as part of my lawn really likes to hold moisture unless it's been a total drought for a while. I should probably add some dirt to level it out and re-seed.

      To keep your mower running strong, do change the air filter, oil, and spark plug. I do all this every Spring on my Honda. As long as you are just using this at home and not commercial use, you'll only need to change these three things out once a year. Another thing, use non ethanol fuel. Burns hotter, cleaner, and you'll get more power out of it as opposed to ethanol blended gas. Hope this helps.

      Pretty much any with an internal combustion engine. If you have an older Briggs or tecumsah you might have the option open oil drain plug underneath the mower deck. Most of the time I follow the procedure in this video one of my molar has a drain plug or not.

      If you leave gas in the tank over the winter be sure to use a fuel conditioner with the gas so it doesn't gum up your carburetor.
