    I learn a lot from your videos. As someone just getting into archery it’s hard to understand just how much goes into everything. From the arrows, to the strings, to the releases. I have about a month and a half of shooting under me and am just now starting to get “comfy” at 30 yards (where I’m not missing the target entirely).

      Consistency and practice will get you there, brother.

    I am getting rwady for my first TAC in Oklahoma. So ready to get out there. Had a local 3D shoot with some 70 yard shots to train for long bombs. Great video.

    I run the heat vane in a 4 fletch on a 5mm arrow and it’s been really good shooting out to distance for 3D as well as handling white tail hunting with a fixed 4 blade broad head

    Tip: you don’t need to razor blade off old fletchings and glue. Remove the nock and set all of the arrows in a safe container, I use an old aluminum cup, and let them soak in acetone. In an hour or two you’ll have clean arrows with no risk of cutting the carbon with a razor blade!
    Edit: maybe not the best idea, use discretion.

    • @liamboyle9199
      @liamboyle9199 Рік тому +6

      I thought soaking in acetone for long periods of time wasn't recommended cause it could soak in and break down the carbon?

      I soak for 15min and then hit them with a scotch brite pad. Works a treat
      I saw someone soaked some shafts for 24hrs and didn’t notice any issues but I wouldnt be doing that with cheap shafts

    • @liamboyle9199
      @liamboyle9199 Рік тому +1

      @polarbear5996 I know at least some Easton shafts still have fibreglass in them (pretty sure at least), so I probably wouldn't be pushing this technique to the masses.
      Like anything I have no doubt there are some cases where it works alright.

    • @thenameiwantedwastaken
      @thenameiwantedwastaken Рік тому

      @@liamboyle9199
      Yeah, it’s a real YMMV, but as mentioned, I wouldn’t try it with cheaper shafts
      It’s also a May vs Will decision. Soaking the end of the shaft may cause an issue, knicking the carbon with a razor, and not noticing, Will cause an issue

    • @liamboyle9199
      @liamboyle9199 Рік тому

      @polarbear5996 I've "nicked" carbon before with 0 issues. Nothing stupidly crazy like long shards or anything.

    I trim off any overlap when I install wraps for other people, and put a fletch right on the seam. If there's an overlap, the vane will sit tilted to the seam.

    For the ultimate long range TAC arrow i would consider running the Bohning air vane in a 3 or 4 fletch configuration. Its low profile and only 2" long which is plenty considering you're only using field points.

    I am going to use Bohning Ice vanes on my next arrow build, with a set of Bowfire arrows for 3D. I have allways used Easton Diamond vanes, but wanted to try the Bohning Ice, because of the lower profile. I allways use NPV Saunders glue for my fletchings and I have allways used to clean the vanes with acetone, before I glue them and I very rarely have any to come off. However I don't think they'd stick as well, with that plier test... :-) But for my Bohning Ice vanes - would you say that I don't need to clean them with acetone or maybe that I actually should not clean them - or...??? Anyone some comments on that??
