Morning Jake, another outstanding repair to a work of Art and all completed through the door seal rubber retaining holes 👌🏻. Impressive as always, I can only imagine how mush extra caution is required when working with a light weight alloy Ferrari door. No pressure 😂
Jake mate..... You cease to amaze me. Cracking job! Question on Your light board. Do you ever use lines? Are you going to upload a vid on how you made it? Cheers mate.
Thanks, I've never really got on with line boards, always preferred the fog board. I'm hoping to upload a video over the winter on how i made my board, still busy editing some other edits at the moment.
Hi KevinSandy2, thank you. I started out as a panel beater first then progressed into PDR, probably did my first PDR course around the year 2000, it was only a 3 day course, I just kept at it and taught myself the rest. Working for a large BMW bodyshop I was never short of cars to practice on. I never worked with or shadowed anyone, it was all very secretive around the time I was learning, no one would give anything away, and there was no one to learn from on UA-cam! Now you can learn so much about this online.
Absolutely awesome work Jake, I'd really love to speak with you about a career change into PDR. I'm 36 and need a new career for the next 30 years, after watching your videos I'm hooked on this, amazing job.... 👍🏻👌🏻
Amazing work on your videos and so much good content. I really learned something interesting and new, so cudos on that, you got a new subscriber for sure! This inspired me to spend a little and get myself an entry level toolkit (already ordered) to try this out, as my own ride has plenty of door dings and minor lumps that desperately need sorting out so i'll have plenty to practice on. Once again, thanks for the inspiration and the tutorials.
Yes, that has been suggested before, although I don't think a lot of the customers would like to be filmed. If I get any really interesting jobs in the future I will certainly ask... 😉
Brilliant job. Anything less than "brilliant" would be immediately noticed. I find the 458 strange. I do not really like the styling, overall, as a cohesive piece of art. And let's face it, this is art. However, I recognize that it is absolutely gorgeous styling in it's execution and design. I appreciate the subtle gentle curves giving way to strong lines effortlessly, and how the line and compound curves compliment each other. The door for instance, is a masterpiece. As is each body panel. Put together, I don't care for the final result; it doesn't move me. A Miura or a Dino or a Statos or a Pantera or any Bizzarrinii moves me. But the 458 fascinates me regardless because I can break down each little styling cue and see how it was ever so consciously made to compliment or complete another styling aspect. I appreciate the 458 immensely. but I do not really "like" it. It's like Picasso. I recognize his brilliance, and his art fascinates me. But I don't find it "pretty" art. It's great art nonetheless.
Most metal needs pushing past the point it needs to be level, as it has an elastic type quality to it. Aluminium Is a strange metal to work with, it doesn't like to be worked too much as it can fracture or split so you have to be careful with it:-)
Thank you for sharing! Just curious, why glue pulls weren't your first choice of attack this time? Is it a preference thing or you just knew that was the wrong tool for that particular dent?
Good question! I had a perfectly placed hole next to the dent, so I prefer to go in behind the dent as pushing will always give you more control, besides the crease was just a bit too tight, also being there was a very slight mark in the paint, I also didn't want to risk pulling paint off such a nice car!
The only problem with this video is I tried to click the like button more than once but I didn’t work. No seriously great job and I bet that the owner must a lost sleep over this but now I think he must sleep well now . I guess that I beat working outside in the cold or hot.
Thank you, strange the like button is playing up, not sure what s going on there, thanks for trying anyway. This was done when we were having our mini heatwave, so was very hot outside!
Hi, thanks for the great videos and information, I have a question how do you fix the oil canning/panning on a repaired PDR on quater panel on 2017 Rav4?
There are many machines available now to help with oil canning, they use an electrode which you have to spark on the underside of the panel which needs to be taken back to bare metal. Woyo are one manufacturer of that product:-)
Hi Jeffrey, when pushing a dent out, it is a mixture of pushing and tapping. When pushing a tight crease out the center will have work hardened slightly so when pushing the sharp center crease out, the soft surrounding metal will come out further than needed, so needs tapping down with the tap downs. Blending hammers can be used for larger softer high areas and tap downs with sharper tips, usually made from nylon are used for smaller high areas. This repair had a mixture of both.
Yes, it seems only the US and Canada spell and pronounce it "Aluminum" while all the rest of us call it "Aluminium" The following link should make for some interesting reading..... www.etymonline.com/word/aluminum#etymonline_v_10934
I find Aluminium harder because it needs more force to move it as it has spring like qualities, also on edges like a front wing it can split easily. Much prefer working on standard mild steel.
I just price it up on the complexity of the dent. It will make a difference if I have to start taking the car apart though as something like this would be more complex.
@@rigzrigz Yes I make all my own lights, most techs use the ones made by Elimadent or Stucky or other manufacturers. My ones are just for my own use, I don't sell them.
Was great working inside for a change, especially somewhere as nice as this!
1st Track Dents ...true indeed! Was that a garage or a man cave???
Do you run a teaching course?
The paint was a very professional touch! Nicely done!
Jake You are the only bloke a Ferrari owner could trust to do a quality PDR on their pride & joy. Top work.
Amazing work! Just getting started in PDR myself and finding your videos to be an inspiration :)
I fell into UA-cam and found your videos, you are clearly a witch, amazing work
A very pleasing form of ASMR. Great craftsmanship. Fantastic result 👊🏻
I would have been nervous and sweating waterfalls. Great job sir. What a talent and experience u have. Wow!

Yes these holes were perfectly placed, it would have been a very awkward angle to try and go inside with the door skin off.
What a brilliant piece of craftsmanship 😍😍😍😍
You are good they trust your expert hand on that beauty God bless Jake.
Thank you for taking the time for doing this video and good luck with your new channel!
Outstanding! Can't believe how good that turned out!
Complimenti, sei veramente bravo, un PROFESSIONISTA ...
Meticoloso anche con le spiegazioni e le riprese video ...
E' un piacere vederti lavorare ...
Grazie mille!

@@1st_track_dents Wow!!! I wait for this!!!
Thank you again for the share. You clearly are a Master Craftsman. How many years do you have as a PDR Tech? Are you self taught?

Brilliant repair as always. I have the same dentcraft tool. Friend of mine called this tool: "black horse" :D. Greetings from Poland.
Greetings from the UK. Yes, such a simple tool, but it has so many great uses!
Awesome repair and showing what tools you used 👍
Thanks!
Excellent work Jake. I have been doing it for over 20 years but you are better than I am. Have kind of lost my touch as well as eyesight.
Wow .. what a result.

Excellent job. Would you say that over-pushing aluminium then tapping down is a more effective way to get a good result?

Great job tru a magnific access!
Ahhh, the master at work ...
I keep a Ferrari in my living room to lol. Great video and great work.
How the other half live lol!
absolute genius : )
You are the sheet metal whisperer. I guess you've enabled the two friends speak to each other again too.

Perfect , what more can I say !? Thanks for the video .
Amazing result. How long did you spend on the job altogether?
It's always longer when trying to film it, but I would have expected this to have taken between 1 and 2 hours.
Nice one Jake, fantastic result, as usual you make it look easy. Are you still keeping busy at Enfield?
Hi mate, not in Enfield much these days, more towards Hertfordshire these days,
Good. Working. I. Am. Learning. I. Am. Doing. Some. Works. Here. In. Brasil .
This is my new favourite channel!
Отличная работа! И очень ответственная, так как это очень дорогое авто, но Вы его победили!

Wow, nice work!
Did the blokes' missus not mind him parking his car the lounge ?
Amazing job!!!
Great work!

I still do not understand the small tapping and what it does

perfect
Tem algum material para ensinar!!!??
👏👏👏👏👏👏
The thumbs down is from the panel beater that didn’t get the job :)
🤣
Is it harder to work on aluminium because it tends to "stretch" rather than spring back into shape ?
I find Aluminium harder because it needs more force to move it as it has spring like qualities, also on edges like a front wing it can split easily. Much prefer working on standard mild steel.
Ferrari should hire you :)
Master 😎👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
How i wish you revved up that engine in the living room at the end of repair !
How do u price on a expensive car to a regular car
I just price it up on the complexity of the dent. It will make a difference if I have to start taking the car apart though as something like this would be more complex.
Have you got the link to the pdr tools used in this video. Thanks
They are all in the description, the only real tool I used on this was this one: www.dentcrafttools.com/side-panel-hook-1-curved-flag.html
Also do you develop your own light. If so where can I purchase one? 👍
@@rigzrigz Yes I make all my own lights, most techs use the ones made by Elimadent or Stucky or other manufacturers. My ones are just for my own use, I don't sell them.
Sensacional!!!

Since it a 458... 250$ an hour to fix this dent lets take 3 days.
Not sure my wife would be having that, she gets upset with my mountain bikes in the house
🤣
The one dislike was the guy who hit the Ferrari.
You perform excellent cosmetic surgery..... wish you could fix the crease in my wife like that
🤣🤣🤣
What type of Fool wants a car inside?
Its not even the right paint XD
