Not our song. Song belongs to Neil Young

Alrighty so my father wanted to show me some more rockers and this was the one he wanted me to hear this week! Let us know if there are other Neil Young songs we gotta get too! Hope everyone is having an excellent weekend!!! 🙌😁🔥👍
Hey Hey My My and Ohio (a history lesson about the Kent State massacre for Ethan) are a couple of good ones. 🙌👍🤘✌️
You mentioned Neil Young playing with Paul McCartney, you guys should check out his song Cut Me Some Slack that he does with Dave Grohl and the other former members of Nirvana from the Sound City Real To Reel album, it is a real banger. 💯🔥👍🤘✌️
Ah - finally another great Canadian artist - need more Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot on this channel. Don't let it bring you down is an underappreciated Neil classic. I am still waiting for the Jethro Tull flute solo from Tampa for quite a while now ...
Other great Neil Young songs are "Heart of Gold" and "Hey Hey, My My".
The catalog of music this guy has is unreal...his archives are massive.Neil Young for life.
It's great to the younger people enjoy rock and roll. Maybe rock and roll will never die...
Why have hardly ANY of the reaction folks listened to this song? I don't get it! This is a heck of a rocker - Neil hit one outta the park and I wish more people who haven't heard it could. Well, thanks for reacting, and maybe some folks will hear it from your channel! You're RIGHT it's a ROCK ANTHEM!!
neil equates anger with distortion, love it
As ACDC said rock and roll shall never die!!!
Pretty sure it was Neil said that
Songs on the radio you could sing along with. Those were the days.
A Canadian national treasure.
Neil Young is one of my favourist songwriters. Always makes touching songs. Cinnamon Girl, Pocahontas, Like A Hurricane, Powderfinger... and hundreds of more!!! ❤
This song breaks my heart. All time favourite.
I see a woman in the night
With a baby in her hand
There's an old street light (near a garbage can)
Near a garbage can (near a garbage can)
And now she put the kid away and she's gone to get a hit
She hates her life and what she's done to it
There's one more kid that'll never go to school
Never get to fall in love, never get to be cool
One of the best pieces of songwriting ever
powerful words....is there a free world anywhere?
like a hurricane, live
Could be the most prolific singer songwriter of my generation. He's been a part of my musical journey since the mid 60's. Stuff off of After the Goldrush lp. Southern Man another great one. Great reaction guys!
Hey Gary , thanks for the comment and being a part of the channel. We appreciate it very much. We love your comments ! Thank you ans be well -Larry
I love his reaction! I love to see another generation appreciate the good stuff
I could not imagine hearing Zeppelin, Beatles, Stones, The Who, etc.. for the first time.
One of THE best songs of all time my brothas!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Hey Hey, My My...the live version from Rust Never Sleeps. To see the other side of Neil try My My, Hey Hey from the same album. The acoustic live version of Old Man and Heart of Gold are great too.
Fun fact Pearl Jam likes to cover this song for their enchores sometimes and there have been times when Neil Young has joined them on stage, usually it's when he's been in the same city as them a few days before.
They also frequently play "(Why do I keep) Fucking Up". Great.
When they supported him on the "Mirrorball" tour, Eddie, Stone and Mike used to come out and play it with him as an encore
What a great song.
Good afternoon gents !!! Great song once again !!! 👍🤘✌️
Thanks Dave!!! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! -Ethan
Please make reaction to Diana Ankudinova - the most unique young talented singer.
(rarest contralto with polyphonic overtones)
One of my favourite things to find and enjoy is music that gives me chills and goosebumps. I was cruising UA-cam recently and discovered a Russian talent show contestant that did just that, with one of the best, most unique voices I've heard in many years. Her delivery was nothing short of magical and I searched out more and more and more, and...more chills.
I was stunned to find that the first performance I heard was when she was 14!!!! She's now 17 and still developing. She sings in Russian, French, English and Arabic.
The covers she performed on that show are very popular on UA-cam. Many UA-camrs publish reactions on these performances, which include the ethnic song "River" (in a new musical arrangement), "Blizzard", "Wicked Game", "Human", "Derniere Danse", "Take On Me" and others.
Please react to one of Diana's songs and I promise she will surprise you.

⬆️ Wicked Game
Diana Ankudinova 😊👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💥💥💥🎉💫💯
I invite you to listen to a unique young singer from Russia - *Diana* *Ankudinova* , who has an incredible VOICE and is looking for herself in different musical directions. I am sure that you will not regret and will not consider the time spent as useless, and your subscribers will broaden their horizons! 😊
One of his harder banger ! I love him on acoustic guitar he’s brilliant ! He. Is truly a rockn roll legend ! I learn to play guitar on his songs ! So many great songs ! I ☮️
Greetings, Larry. Have a nice Weekend.
Yes many many great songs. I am looking forward to Ethan discovering a lot of them. Great music ! I know he will love it. Hope you are well Larry !
Hey lisa ! Hope you are well -Larry
Get yourself a G harmonica and you can play about 70 percent of his songs
Great Reaction. One of those charismatic performers that can impress with just a guitar or with a band. The ability to make a chord sound like a major event. Can you react to "You're Like A Hurricane" from Live Rust 2016?
thank you J! We will definitely add that one to the considerations list!! 🙌 -Ethan
I think Neil has such a unique voice. Like you'll say Yeah that's Neil Young !! I LOVED the guitar. Go right ahead Ethan and give them all a listen. You will not be disappointed. What a rocking fun reaction guys. Please keep them rollin!!! My brother loved it too. He can't stop singing. 😁🎸🎶
Thanks Cheryl!!! 🎸🤘 -Ethan
He’s my favorite male singer, next to David Sylvian.
I’ve got most of his albums. There’s an electric guitar Neil Young and an acoustic one. Both are great but I prefer the acoustic one.
Southern man
Heart of gold
Old man
Comes a time
Like a hurricane
After the goldrush
Etc.
Hi guys, hope you're having a good weekend.
You too! -Ethan
@@fatherandsonreactions - You Tube deleted my long comment and took my whole conversation with Lisa with it, but I've recreated it now. You Tube hates me!
Good evening, Dave! How has Saturday been treating you?
@@adama1189 - I've had no email copy of your reply so It was a good thing I was looking out for it. I've just seen the best end of F1 qualifying sessions for some years, I have a pizza cooking, and when the F1 highlights show has ended there's Sicario 2 immediately afterwards. And you're back on F&S. Perfect evening!
I hope you're able to have a good weekend despite the chaos at home!
@@davemac1197 Sounds like you’re having a great evening to me! About F1, I have a buddy who is a big fan. He posted something earlier today about Charles Leclerc, so I’m assuming he’s a big name in the industry? I’m not too familiar with F1, however I grew up watching NASCAR which I guess you could go as far as to say that is our version of F1 over here in the States.
Certainly nice to be back here on F and S. Definitely a nice break from every that’s been going on the last few weeks.
Crime in the City
Hello, I would like to see your reaction to the performances of Diana Ankudinova. Her amazing voice surprises everyone, she performed covers of the famous songs "Wicked Game", "Human", "Havana","Take on Me". She also has her own songs "Into the sky" (В небо), "Your Voice" (Голосом твоим), "Happiness" (Счастье).
You are now the second person to suggest her: I will talk to Ethan about it. Thanks -Larry
Neil Young is a great musician with a big history/contribution to the world is music !
Thanks for reacting to him - it was a good one ! 👍
Hi Brian! How are you?
@@davemac1197 i'm doing better (but I've had a bad reaction to Levaquin antibiotic : joint and tendon pain, ongoing..... I've read a bit about it, and in some instances or can be pretty bad....
but mine isn't too bad
@@brianb6024 - oh wow, that's a shame. Have they given you an alternative? I don't know very much about antibiotics but I know from other's experience it can be a bit of trial and error to find what works. Hope you're able to relax over the weekend and put your feet up!
Hi Brian, I hope you will feel better.😊
Hey Brian, how’ve you been? All is well I hope?
What a great song Lary&Ethan epic
Definitely! -Ethan
Great reaction Ethan.
Thanks Tony! -Ethan
This is a great song. It's often misunderstood though, in a similar way to Bruce Springsteen's 'Born In The USA' which is a shame.
Larry & Ethan - I discovered your great channel during lockdown and furlough but I am now back at work sadly 😞 so I am still checking your videos out but not straight away. Keep up the good work and keep on discovering new music - variety is the spice of life and it makes the world a much more fun place 😁
This is a great song, you deserve to dive into his songs. He has done so many great ones over the years ranging from folky stuff to distorted guitar freak outs that put so many young bands to shame. His double live album Arc Weld from a few years ago now had a limited edition 3 disc version and he cut all the extended and distorted ends of live songs together into one track! So if you ever want to listen to 40 minutes of distorted feedback then that's your album!😈🤘😁
Tracks to check out are the live versions of Powderfinger, Cortez The Killer,Like A Hurricane and Hey Hey,My My(Into The Black)
Thanks for the comment Steve , and it is great to hear that you are back to work. Thank you so much for your comments over the months and I hope you are able to watch as much as before. Be well -Larry
Great artist!!! You should check him singing this song with Pearl Jam!!!!
You guys are cool.
Nice take
Thank you ! -Ethan
Hi y'all .. this is one of my faves from NY. A good portion of his catalog is more soft rock with acoustic guitar picking. Btw: this song is an 80's release date .. '89 actually. "Old Man" is another good one or "Cinnamon Girl". He's 75 & still rocking. Glad U enjoyed that one Ethan .. great job Larry ❣️ Y'all take good care & b well .. peace✌🏼🤘🏼🙂
Hi Romona, thanks for your awesome comments. Old man is an awesome song and I think Ethan would really like it. Will send this to him to add to list. Thank you for being a great part of our channel , we appreciate it very much -Larry
@@fatherandsonreactionsHey Larry .. that'll be Cool. Thnx for ur thoughtful reply. Always nice to listen to & share great music esp 1st timers. See y'all tomorrow. B safe & well .. peace✌🏼😊❣️
Many do not realise that Neil Young was also a member of the mega influential group from the 60's, the So. California band called Buffalo Springfield. His early songs include Mr. Soul and Broken Arrow among other Buffalo Springfield classics. BS was responsible for not only spawning Crosby, Stills, Nash (and sometimes Young) but the bands Poco, Loggins and Messina, Stephen Stills Manassas all have direct root to The Buffalo Springfield.
R.I.P. Rick "the bass player" Rosas!
Check out the live version of this song with Pearl Jam!
"Old Man" live acoustic version here on YT for something quite different.
Guys Also Check Out Harvest Moon by Neil Young.
Great tune, I know it well. My son probably doesn’t. Will add to the list of possibilities ! Thanks -Larry
Correct Father time - Neil Young was in Buffalo Springfield before CSNY. It has been said before, but I say Cinnamon Girl is next.
Hey Calvin , great great suggestion. I will make sure that makes the list of stuff to choose from. Hope you are doing well Calvin. Thanks for always having great comments and suggestions. It’s people like you that keep us motivated -Larry
Oh, Neil has so many great songs, I mean few artists wrote that many excellent songs, that Neil Young has in five decades. Check out his 60's and 70's period, which was definitely his best(this song/album came out in 1989, if you want to listen a great live album, check out "Weld", it is amazing). Be it electric or acoustic he never disappoints.
Thanks for the comment. We will absolutely do more of him in the near future ! Thank you for being a part of our channel - Larry
Two great fantastic songs, not by Neil Young, that you would enjoy are - " gotta keep running" by the Godz and "coliseum rock" by starz. You would totally enjoy them. Try it. I dare you.
Loved the opening of this, and instrumentally the whole thing. I'm not so keen on Neil Young's vocals. I thought this may have been an American 70s classic but computer says it was released in 1989, #2 on Billboard, but only reached #83 on the UK singles chart in 1994, which is probably why I've not heard this before. In fact, 9 out of Neil Young's 11 UK chart singles were between 1993-1995, with just Heart Of Gold and Four Strong Winds from the 70s. Maybe someone knows why this was so. Great tune and a great reaction guys. Thanks so much for doing this one.
Isn't Neil great !
👍
How is ol' England doing ?
Do you ever get on to the GEM channel anymore?
Horrible shapings in the Middle East as of late .....
@@brianb6024 - really enjoyed this tune, don't think I've heard it before but it has a very familiar sort of sound to it.
We've had a lot of wind and rain recently, probably April showers a month late is all.
I've not commented on JEM for a few weeks. They're still uploading stuff in the middle of the night for me, so y'all comments are usually 8-12 hours old by the time I see them.
The only YT notifications I can get live now are only the personalised replies that are copied to email, so I have to have Outlook open all the time for Win10 to give me an alert. On top of that, YT just deleted my second comment and my conversation with Lisa, as well as my 'Hi Lisa' on her thread. YT hates me, Brian...
Wow interesting! Thanks Dave 👍 Tell Adam we miss him -Ethan
Well Ethan the bad news is you will never hear all the great 60's and 70's songs. The good news is your young enough to hear lots and lots of the them. Even at my age (65) I still haven't heard them all and still find gems. It's amazing how many great songs from albums never get heard but I'm doing my best to hear as many as I can now that I'm retired. Peace!
Tom you are so right. We will never run out of great music to explore. Thanks for hanging with us Tom Tom -Larry
Blink twice if your ok
That intro has been bugging me for the last 2.5 hours but this has floated to the surface of my brain - Lenny Kravitz - If I Could Fall In Love, from the Blue Crush movie soundtrack. Compare and contrast: ua-cam.com/video/BGq1jxsp-nE/v-deo.html
Neil Young PREDATED CSNY, guys
Canadian boy who moved to LA and became one of the most prolific writers and singers, up until NOW
. Check his band, Crazyhorse. Amazing record
Great, great song. I’ve never been a Neil Young guy (admittedly I’m not too familiar with much of his stuff) but I’m certainly a fan of this one. With that being said, would love to see you guys react to some more Neil Young, that way it exposes me more to his stuff as well.
Hope you both doing well, Larry and Ethan! I see I’ve missed a lot of awesome stuff the past few weeks, so I certainly got to check those out. Wrapping up your freshman year I assume, Ethan?
Hi Adam! You made it!
@@davemac1197 I did! I didn’t finish with a medal today, but I’m working my way back!
@@adama1189 - did you see Ethan saying they missed you? - it's in the thread of my main comment "Loved the opening of this..."
@@davemac1197 Indeed I did! That was a very nice gesture from Ethan, I certainly appreciate him checking in. To me, it shows that he certainly knows his community and wants to be a part of it. And thank you as well for filling him in, Dave.
@@adama1189 - we often see Ethan respond to people who have obviously not been on the channel a while, so he has good situational awareness, but I also left a couple of clues. The thread I used to get back in touch was one he had already replied to, so I knew he would have got a YT notification of my new reply on the old thread.
Please, make a reaction to the songs of the singer Diana Ankudinova.
Never heard of her. If more people request her will will do it -Larry
Not my favourite Neil Young song, but it's not bad. I guess it's just because they play it too often on the radio here. I always thought Neil's voice and guitar were both out of tune (even if they weren't) but they sound great together haha!
For my suggestion, here is The Doors - Break On Through (ua-cam.com/video/rOpQjD-rX0g/v-deo.html). Cheers!
Hey Mike. Thanks for the doors suggestion. Not sure if he knows that one or not. Will ask him for sure. Thank you for commenting on our videos. We appreciate that you are a part of the channel. Be well Mike -Larry
First off this is a great song. But you might want to look a little bit deeper for the meaning. This is a protest song about the seedier side of America on the world stage. Talks about the Middle East and the corrupt governments America propped up, ignoring the addiction problems, the environment. But we have a kinder, gentler machine gun hand. We have department stores and toilet paper. We have Styrofoam boxes for the ozone layer. But we have fuel to burn and roads to drive. Keep on rocking in the free world is basically the same as I've got mine I'll ignore you.
😥 no body gets that verse.😢 if you did youd never enjoy this song again. 😢 she threw the kid away in that dumpster. He died. Never get to go to school. Never get to grow up. Never get to be cool. 😢😢😢
It's unfortunate that you missed the real meaning of this song. It's not a rock anthem in the way you think it is.
