THIS Honda Odyssey is not even in the same class as the Kia Carnival. Internationally this is called the baby Odyssey or the Odyssey J. The carnival competes with the full sized Odyssey ( Which is a completely different car) which comes with a 3.5 V6 and blows it away in every department. Sad to see Honda holding back for the Australian region.
What is Honda doing??? I personally think Honda need to step up their game big time. I watched this to compare it with new Carnival , which is literally uncomparable. Yes Carnival costs more but the amount of extra features you get with it? And actually servicing oddyssey $600? You gotta be kidding me. More expensive than twin turbo 3.3 L Stinger 🤔 no 360 camera? No heads up display? No ventilated seats? Nonwireless charging etc ...And the infotaiment looks like its from 2015. Its 2021 Honda, wake up ....
Totally agreed, however, it is at this price point where it attracts its buyer, for majority of the buyer, the equipment is sufficient and for a MPV less than 5m, it's also easier to maneuver for new mum drivers as well.
@@davc1379 I know if you can not entice someone with product fully, pricing strategy is another way :) I my self would rather pay more and get better product. But each to their own :)
Agree. I have the 2014 and am like, yep, pretty much no different except no 3 seater in the middle row which kills it for me. Family of 5 that sometimes needs to move more wants a boot available most of the time so this configuration 2 2 3 is a hard pass.
I'm a Honda fan. Ever since I bought an Integra in the early 90s. I can see everywhere in that car how well engineered they were. But while this Honda Odyssey looks heckava lot better than the model it replaces, next to the new Carnival, it already looks outdated.
Is this the new 2021 Odyssey? Why it is so different from the newly launched 2021 Odyssey that I watched? It has vacuum, leg kick sensor, removable/rearranging the 2nd row seats and much much more.
Own one (post facelift) Great family car. Handling is great and yes not the most powerful but gets the job done. Plenty of room yet smaller than the Kia. Would definitely recommend one for a safe and reliable Family Bus. Wife loves auto parking.
Would you recommend for a family with 3 young kids (oldest being 4yo), all still requiring car seats? We test drive one and loved it, but our only concern is the boot space. With the anchor points being at bottom of boot instead of back if chairs, the top tether straps are going to compromise the boot space. PS we have a Upperbaby double pram.
Honda just gave up Australian market. They don't want to sell more than 20000 per year. That's why even they have better models such as hybrid cr-v or better optioned Odyssey. This Odyssey missed leg rest and around view option.
Good review guys. I was still not pleased to learn that the 2021 odyssey has No electronic hand breaks , 19inch wheels are replaced with this unattractive 17inch, which you will get from the high spec model like this one in Japan. Apart from the automated tail gate and the hand gestures slide door function , small display dashboard and apple car play, everything else are still featured on the current model. I was planning on get one, to replace my current 2015 model odyssey, but I will look for something else now. Honda Australia I believe the current sale number are reflect the customer demand.
If you live in colder climates, I do not recommend the Odyssey. The traction is not very good in winter even with winter tires. Go AWD! You will thank me later lol Otherwise if you don't have bad winters, it's a great vehicle to drive and highly recommend!
Won’t bother watching Honda only sell about 1,000 Odyssey per year Honda Agency Sales model starts later this year 1,000 sales per year is not enough volume to make it worthwhile to keep offering the Odyssey in Australia Odyssey won’t be offered in Australia next year. As of late 2021, early 2022 Honda will only sell CRV, HRV and some Civic in Australia Nothing else.. Total Honda sales in Australia will be under 20,000 units in 2022. Honda fading away to be irrelevant in Australia
@John Bowen Yes Resale will be crap Honda Agency sales model started July 1 In June, Honda sold under 800 cars nationally !! Honda have 100% confirmed that Odyssey will end in Australia in early 2022. I strongly suspect that existing Honda dealers will begin handing back the franchise during late 2021, due to very low sales. Nobody would want to take on the franchise. I strongly suspect that in early 2022, Honda will advise that they will totally pull out of Australia as of late 2022.
What’s the point of having a people mover that can just move 4 pax and their luggage? Captain seats are not for me. If at least you can split the 3rd row and accommodate someone else there plus additional cargo... and yet not ideal from a safety point of view. Just tested an 8 seater 2nd hand last week... maybe my next car.
People mover with a default configuration of 2 2 plus good boot makes no sense to a family of 5 that sometimes needs to move more. My 2014 base model 2 3 3 is better. Pretty much no changes since 2014 other than make 2 3 boot impossible. That said, I love my 2014 oddessy.
Not really. hard plastic, poor soundproofing, poor infotainment, underpower 2.4l (unless if just you and your mate), cvt same issue (unless if just you and your mate), 8.0l/100ks not really (unless if just you and your mate).
It looks extremely bloated and ugly. I feel like the designers at Honda went to happy hour and never came back since the early 2000s. It's so ugly I couldn't live to look at it on a daily basis. I can't stress how ugly this is, but it's better than Toyota's ugly mess.
@@james6969 Yes, the Carnival Petrol has almost twice the power and more Torque, as well as offering a Diesel option with twice the torque as the Honda. The Diesel in particular is pretty effortless when you have a full car. I'm curious as to how well the Odyssey performs with those specs when fully loaded.

I think the full size Odyssey are only left hand drive, hence not available in Australia or even in Japan.
The Kia carnival in the people mover segment is unbeatable

that probably was the USA model. this is the JDM model
The LHT) and RHT Odysseys are *very* different. The RHT (North America) is much larger than the LHT one.
I simply love this Honda Odyssey 2021 7 seater. I will get one of it very soon.

Is there a Mini Van with 3 seats in the second row?
2 seats don't make any sense to me
Front parking sensor is missing and only 2 speakers in the front. For 50k+ this is not acceptable. And the 3rd row does not have child seat tether.

Exactly, I just give it up because of above reasons.
In which markets is it available now?
Where’s the v6 version?????
What do you mean seven seater the Honda Odyssey is a 8 seater middle row has a bench seat not a captain seat
Sama, di Jakarta juga baru di launcing..
no any speakers on the last seat?
Is parking brake is mechanical or electric? In Indonesia it just mechanic parking brake pedal

Much better off with the CRV..or if the budget can stretch, KIA Carnival full stop.
Hmm, would be a hard decision between this one and the Kia, but of course it's a shame, Honda doesn't include some details.
