doesn’t look like a modular to me. they could easily remove the pinholes if they wanted to, though it is odd they chose this when friends had a set just like this this year. i imagine they’ll just make it a standalone building like the cabin set
Even if it doesn't look like a modular to you, it meets all the criteria of a modular for LEGO. 1) Built on a Baseplate, 2) Completely enclosed all the way around, and 3) Includes pin holes to connect to other modulars. Now, to your point, LEGO could certainly redesign the set to not include the baseplate or pin holes! That remains to be seen. However, yes, it is odd that they chose this set with the Friends set just released in June, as well as LEGO never picking an Ideas submission that presents as a modular. I'm very interested to see how they end up making this set! Does it keep the modular-isms or not?
The botanical garden is beautiful complete, and more grounded than the friends set. I buy this in an heartbeat. The cullen house is just a modern house.
The Botanical Garden is certainly a beautiful design! I don't think that is the major concern. The concern is that it's a modular set and LEGO IDEAS has typically been reserved for sets other than modulars. To my knowledge, we haven't gotten a bigger scale modern type house set yet so I am excited for the Cullen House!

The Cullen House is not the main controversy this time around! While some people aren't a huge fan of it above other designs, I think it's a pretty good pick!
So these are just the minifigures that the fan designer created for the submission, but they are not representative about what the finals will look like OR what the final minifigure count will look like! It can only get better than what we see here so I'm super excited to see how it ends up!
That's super exciting! I'm thinking LEGO will do a really good job with the design of the house as they certainly want to draw in a new demographic of fans!
I am very disappointed, I do not like either one of them One is because we already had a Botanical Gardens set in the Friends line. 2 is for, I do not like the Twilight Saga lego Set.
I'm sad to hear that! I agree about the Botanical Garden set; I'm still befuddled on how that design got through the process, and I fear that we will never hear the full answer. I can certainly understand not liking the Twilight Cullen House, but for me, it's more about the modern house design than the actual IP itself! We'll see how the final design comes out from LEGO as to if I will be fully committed to purchasing this product.
Just to remind you, LEGO is only choosing the IDEA, not the actual design pictured here. LEGO can choose whatever design they deem necessary, and I believe the final product will look quite different from what we see here while obviously keeping the main house comparable to the real design. Hope that helps!

That set was also a modular which I guess is on the table nowadays! Although, I feel as if LEGO broke their "no modular" rule for IDEAS just this one...

Why do we only get a few twilight characters? I thought the cullens had a full family as did jacob with his wolves. Carlisle looks off.

@ Same. My only worry is the more minifigures the higher the price point will be so more expensive set.

When I get my hands on this set, I'm refurnishing it, imo it just looks too bland, I never liked twilight so my ocd won't go off on me.
