- Perfect as a first guitar or the last guitar you’ll ever need, the PRS SE 245 Standard has a classic voice that is eminently recordable and gig-ready, thanks to its 245 "S" pickups and versatile control layout. Classic PRS appointments include a set Wide Fat mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard with bird inlays, PRS-Designed stoptail bridge and tuners. The 24.5" scale length makes this instrument instantly comfortable to players who prefer short-scale guitars. The all-mahogany body is reminiscent of Paul's first pre-factory instruments and offers a warm, woody tone.
“With so many aspiring players struggling to stick with guitar past the first year, we knew we wanted to deliver an affordable quality guitar that players didn’t have to fight. We want the guitar to inspire you to play; it can’t be something you have to worry about staying in tune or simply working right. So while the [SE] Standards are our first foray into the below $500 price point, that doesn’t mean we compromised on tone, versatility, playability, or reliability,” said Jack Higginbotham, COO, PRS Guitars. “We’re very proud to offer these guitars to the world.”

Who else could listen to this guy play for hours...
Honestly
İ did
Not me, nothing special or out of the box. I’ve heard even way better player so no big deal here
Incredible amazing the minute. repeating all over again and again...
He's a good player and a great presenter, but I don't think he's the best choice for PRS because almost everything he plays sounds more like a spanky single coil than a humbucker.
I got this guitar for my 60th birthday love it my wife bought it for me
0:00 - 0:48 never been so impressed with an intro, well played Brand !!
Just got mine today and I've got to say I'm pissed, pissed I've only now got a prs. Set up and build quality is rediculously good. Never have got a guitar where the neck relief, nut height, string height and pickup height were all bang on. On top of that the tuners are really really good. So then im expecting very poor pickups as they have to save money somewhere....... Nope, pickups are like a cross between a p90 and a humbucker. Full volume it's breaking up even when clean but back the volume off and you can get lovely clean sounds. Frets and fret end are finished to perfection. Bravo PRS Bravo.
I tried one at GC. The setup was horrible. Action was way too high. I realize action is subjective. I couldn’t believe how unplayable it was . Other than that, the pickups sound very good.
@@steveyankees1 I went to a guitar shop once and all the guitars I picked up felt terrible to play. turned out the shop owner sets them up himself. setup was appalling. my prs was straight from the factory the shop didn't touch it. I'd Bet Yours was 'setup' by someone. usually guitar factory's have a standard setup.
I got mine in the weekend before last. I played it a little bit. Perfect set up out of the box. It was even in tune! But I'm afraid to play it because I don't want to ruin the finish. It didn't come with a pick guard and I can't seem to find one. I can find one for pretty much every PRS EXCEPT the 245. Lmao.
I come back every so often to just to listen to that intro 🥹
The pickups sound great, they have a real bite to them...
That's the first term that came through my mind when I putted High-Gain on it ! 🔥
I got mine today, with the new individually adjustable saddles, I am just blown away by the fit and finish.
I just got one for my son and he just can't stop playing it, and it arrived on time for his presentation in Cintermex Monterrey México for The Car Fest 2018 show!
That's awesome!
Been eyeing one of these for months
Thank you for offering more short scale options.
Just ordered one today from Dave's Guitar Shop in La Crosse, WI. Can't wait to receive it. Been playing Gibsons since 1976. After hearing this awesome video intro, I figured it's time to try a PRS single cut. This is an affordable way to get on the PRS train.
Got mine today!! And I love it!
Your playing in the beginning was phenomenal
That is definitely my next guitar. Absolutely beautiful!
Terrific! Let us know what you think of it once you get it in your hands S T
I know I'm thinking this will be my next guitar also!
Just bought in November 2018 the brand new Indonesian PRS SE-245 with Bound Neck, Zebras and Birds in a subtle Chestnut Sunburst. I gotta say this: WOW. I have a Squier Standard Red Telecaster - also Indonesian and I'm seriously considering selling off what I've got because these Indonesians are THAT GOOD. It's Indonesia's Time - no doubt. Repeat, it's Indonesia's Time.
The way he has it set and plays it, it totally has that "Telecaster on steroids" thing going on.
I bought one today. Absolute lovely guitar! ❤️🎸❤️🎸❤️
That sounds amazing
I love the 245 with the maple cap! I just tried one at GC and I can’t wait to get one.
Wow , lovely looking for a SE Standard !
I just got mine yesterday so far really like it thanks
I can definitelly hear that mid-warmth of all mahogany guitars.
Beautiful guitar
Absolutely love the intro!!!
Nice that Sean Bean found some time to review that guitar for us
Love this sound
Woa some nice nice tones here..
So in love with this guitar. Luckily I bought one just last month!
What kinda music you play with it? I’m wanting something for pop-punk/hard rock and wondering if these will fit the bill
Wait... I just watched the rest of the video lol
that's literally my dream guitar
Love the tones!
I own a 2015 model. Love it!!
Beautiful guitar!!! Master guitarist!!!
Love this guitar
Great video thanks 🎸
I have like 12 sg guitars and I love them all my favorite is the zach myers signature model
Waiting for my Les Paul Standard to show up on the doorstep... and killing some time at the guitar shop. Picked up a few Epi's hanging on the wall...then I saw this 245 and gave it a strumming. Yep. It came home with me, also. OMG! What a great playing instrument!!
Was it comfortable to play out of the box? It sounds quite good, especially compared to its price.
@@gordospeti, the Les Paul just arrived at the house last evening. I'm currently out on a rock band tour (truck driver) and won't be home until the end of November. I've played several of these creamy angels and excited about the fact having my very own, finally, after all these years! Thanks.
@@wyldbill100 Rock band tour, superb! Cool! And have you been playing on your se 245? Is it ok to play without any adjustments?
@@gordospeti OMG YES! The PRS SE plays BEAUTIFULLY. Unsure how one would adjust for intonation, if needed, with the solid bridge it has. PRS is probably one of the ONLY guitars one can purchase, delivered, and played right out of the box without ANY playability issues. LOVE playing my 245! Highly highly recommend the PRS brand.
@@wyldbill100 I really appreciate your info on SE 245! It seems a very massive guitar to work with a lot. And it is also a short scale length instrument, which makes the guitar easy to play on. I will surely get one if I get to buy one! Thanx, have a nice time playing your guitars!
I want one right now!
I learned some things in that intro
Is there a full video of this intro song???
I have a feeling this one is going to sell well. I like the white nut also.
Very nice playing. Maybe there will be a PRS Jam Sesson on YT.
Still waiting for a 7 string SE Singlecut and the V :D
I have a 245. They are a steal in this price range.
sounds quite nice
Yeah the guitar seems nice, but I wanna know more about that amp!
The breakup in the intro was so nice.
The breakup is coming from whatever he stompted on at 2:35.
I can't quite figure out which PRS amp it is from looking at the control panel. But it doesn't look like he has plugged in or like it's turned on. In another video, Paul Reed Smith and a colleague were showing how in most demos they actually record direct, or at least with an amp miced in another room.
Well. Pretty sure I know what my next guitar’s gonna be now 😐😍 lol
This has to be the best SE I have ever heard
It’s even better in person
My se 245 came with a whammy. Is there some place I'm supposed to put it or did they just give it to me for shits and giggles
İ think for shits and giggles 🤭
Use it as a slide
it’s a capo duhhh
Love the idea of guitar with matching amp & speakers. I’ve just got my hands on an Se245 standard. What a wonderful piece of work, understated and awesome. If this is the student standard what’s their professional kit like to play!?!?
YEAH . . !! been checking one out at Martin Music in Memphis . . love the looks and sound . . sorta 490 mixed with p90 sounds fantastic . .Waiting on my new '21 LP tribute to sell . . . oh the waiting , lol
I love single cut guitars, but your double cut is something I love I’ll buy my next prs soon. And I’m still thinking should I opt for single cut this time or not. They are amazing I know. But man ahhh ok just so confused. Double cut just fits me so well any way
What is the name of the song in the intro?
When will we see these in stores? I want this guitar! Finger is on the trigger.
What is the difference between "SE 245 Standard" and "SE 245"? Only the wood of the body?
Does it have any different in sound in comparison to the guitar being manufactured in Korea?
Why isn’t there a pattern thin neck available? They do it for an SE Custom but not this one?
🔥🔥🔥
Just ordered one of these, in tobacco burst, as a project. I also ordered PRs Se locking tuners, a set of Fishman classic open core zebra pickups/pots/ output jack package, and the rechargeable battery pack. See where I’m going here? Might end up using the Fishmans on something else. Depends on how the 245 S pickups sound.
That's a damn good guitar!
I am looking at one now but the pickups are all black, not the zebra style that yours has. Are they different?
I think Mr. Ewald could pick up a 2X4 and make it sound musical. Certainly, the SE line doesn't have the same complexity of say, the Core line, but this guitar really sounds great with Brian playing it.
I need a case for this guitar. Can anyone let me know a good fit?
In a way I’m happy this relative to the 594 is easier to get:)
With distortion on, I didn't notice as much difference in tone when switching pickups as one would find on other guitars...maybe....did anyone else notice this?
Nice demo. I'd suggest adding details in such as fret size, fret materials (linked PRS product page doesn't have this info either).
Max Mortell if it helps the SE standard 245 (or at least the last model) had junbo wire. Very fat and comfy. Larger than korean SEs I felt
Thanks for your feedback, Max.
Hi, What if you need to fix the intonation with the bridge ?
I got this exact guitar yesterday....love it, only thing is the bridge pick up is tilted neck to bridge, is this normal?
Which side of the pickup is higher? The one closer to the bridge or neck?
That piece at the beginning 😍😍😍😍 also, where can I buy these in India?
Would this be a good guitar to also play jazz and blues on?
Are this 245 and the Se 24 standard different animals? Doo they sound differently? Should we own both 2 models?? Plz s.o advise me!!
Does anyone know why 2018 is a bit more expensive than 2017? Last year it was £399 new but this year it's £479? Been saving for this model
Want one so bad
so hows the tuning and staying in tune question do they get in tune and stay tune ? they seem nice but..some people have had staying in tune
I’ve listened to the intro at least 50 times by now, I need a tabbb
Try to watch each thing he's playing and copy it
Cool - the 10,000th watcher
Not a fan of Les Paul shapes but this one was beautiful.
anyone know if this is a true solid body or is it weight relieved?
Does anyone know what song he is playing in the intro?
who else noticed texas band whiskey myers tone at beginning. nice
Does anyone know the truss rod wrench size for this guitar
does it come with a gig bag
I've got one of the "old" SE 245s. You will struggle to find a better built guitar. Mine is black which seems to be dropped from the current line.
Hi kingstumble, do you remember what year was yours?
I had a newer Indonesian model. It was a good guitar but I wasn’t attached to it. So, I sold it. I’ll definitely buy another PRS when I find “The One”.
What's the difference between yours and this? Just the headstock decoration? Does it have 245S pickups? There's an old-style forsale near me and I'm thinking of pulling the trigger....
@@InGrindWeCrust2010 Sorry, no idea. I no longer have it.
@@kingstumble thanks for the reply. Did you get anything to replace it?
PRS, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE bring the maple finger-board satin neck SE's to the USA market!
Beautiful guitar and sound! I would pick one up but I need a flatter fretboard radius... 😕
Philip Lombardo you can always go to Ibanez lol
Randal LOL yes that's true!
Are these coil tapped?
I think the way he described the placement of the volume and tone is different than the following display in the video. I'm confused.
Nope. His description and the display match perfectly. It's logical-- the "back" two knobs (toward the back of the guitar) control the bridge pickup (the one toward the back of the guitar), and the "front" two knobs control the neck pickup (the one toward the front of the guitar). It makes much more sense than my Les Pauls.
The camera is a little "crooked" (like the shot is taken at a slight angle), so maybe that's what threw you off....
I was going to buy one of these SE 245 Standards, but I can't find any in red, like they quit making that color, so that's a deal breaker for me. And I think they raised the price, too. I guess I'll have to settle for an SE standard 24.
Hi Kevin - Sorry about that, we are only offering this model in Tobacco Sunburst for the 2020 model year. I know you are attached to the Vintage Cherry color, but we offer some other Singlecut body shaped models within the SE lineup that might be to your liking...
Have you seen the SE Zach Myers Signature Model: www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/se_zach_myers_2020 it's a little more lightweight because of its semi-hollow body construction and it has a fantastic look with the Trampas Green stained maple top.
Or how about the SE Santana Singlecut Trem: www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/se_santana_singlecut_trem_2020 which comes stock with TCI "S" pickups, a stunning Egyptian Gold finish, and a tremolo bridge.
Finally, there is the SE Mark Tremonti Standard: www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/se_mark_tremonti_standard_2020 which like the SE 245 Standard is an all mahogany construction that comes in a glossy black finish, sports hotter pickups, and a tremolo bridge.
Hope those three options give you something more to consider! Thanks for reaching out and stay tuned for our future model drops; I'm sure we'll release something you like eventually!
- PRS Customer Service
Why does the SE 245 Standard spec sheet say the neck is wide fat, but actually isn't even close to such? My numerous SE 245s have nice chunky necks, but my SE 245 Standard has a tiny thin neck similar to an SE Custom 22/24 or SE Tremonti.
What song is the intro?
Is the intro an actual song, and if it is whats the name?
I am beginner player and i can't get dession if by 24 or 245.
Does the volume pot rattle like mine does? PRS tells me it's normal for the pots to rattle and feel cheap. They even sent me a video of all the rattley pots they made just for me showing me "they all feel cheap." Didn't expect that from PRS.
Guitar Lust Euphoria My volume pot on my core limited edition McCarty moves just a little. It's normal if it's just a little.
Is it normal for them to move a little bit if you jiggle them from side to side? Yes. Is it normal for them to "rattle" while you're playing? No
no flame, but binding!
Cam Beswitherick Tough thing to choose between. I went for the flame myself
The only change this model needed over the last was new bridge studs and better nuts so open strings don't choke out. Everything else was excellent.
Hi Bryan, I'm doing some internet research and am keen to learn about the PRS range and this model specifically. Could you please help me to contextualize the neck width of this guitar? I see it described as "wide" but can not see any measurements quoted for the actual width. I have scoured the PRS website but come up with no answers. What does "wide" mean in inches or mm please? Also, what does "fat" mean? Relative to say a Strat, or Les Paul? Thanks very much.
www.prsguitars.com/csc/neckprofiles.html
Thanks very much.
@A Nother just to add. What PRS means by 'wide' isn't the width at the nut but the depth. My 2013 Angelus Acoustic also has a 'wide' neck profile. 43mm width but a little chunkier. Just not baseball bat chunky. Feels and plays very smooth! Great Guitars for the money.
@ tessi Thanks for the comment. Haven't looked at the acoustics but will give them a look. Cheers
Intro song: Dzem - Wehikul Czasu
What does that stoptail mean for intonation? Will it only stay intonated with specific string gauges for specific tunings?
Felix Mollberger I’ve owned lots of PRS guitars with that Bridge. It’s amazingly well intonated on every string even without the ability to make individual adjustments. I was always using standard tuning, but it’s good for strings at least from 9-11g.
They're intended to work with with stings gauges up to 13 and stay well intonated at different tunings. Maybe not 100% but very close
The intonation is pretty good. You get two little grub screws on each post to adjust the outside strings and the rest fall into place. A quick check when I set mine up and everything was just about spot on with 9s
The only issie i found was the bridge studs allow the bridge to lean and i had to replace with tonepros locking studs
Thanks guys. If I'm ever getting a single cut it'll probably be a PRS SE Custom, but I wish it would be 25". Slap a tonepros bridge and locking tuners on it and I'd be sold.
is this guitar can sound good in clean or just in distortion?
i don't know what to by 24 or 245
I love my 245 and it looks so nice, one thing that i did like about the 24 is the color variety but you can’t go wrong with either
Also I’m late to comment so lmk what you got

I had an early Tremonti se. My friends gave me shit for having the "Creed" guys guitar, whatever. I dont care who's name they slap on it but PRS. It was an outstanding guitar, that WIDE FAT neck is what I am after. Waiting for some cash so I can buy an Se 245 standard. I want that neck binding. These are the best guitars for the money. Love my Jackson fir the wide neck, but I could do without the Floyd and the pointy shredder junk. Want class with tone with playability.
Are they still Indonesian ? I have 2 standard's
karl forman . Pretty certain China, now. My new Angelus SE is China.
I have this model sir, it's Indonesian made.
I have this with Chris Henderson custom pickups 😎😎😎😎
