So just to clear things up with Rem for anyone. I'll try to shotgun this: Subaru was suspect when he first entered the mansion due to his unusual character and it was during the height of the royal selection. We learned that when Subaru dies, the scent of the witch grows stronger on him. The first time he died was from the puppy curse. When he reset, the witch scent grew stronger which Rem can smell and since he was already suspect, she clapped him. In this episode, the scent of the witch was even stronger and Subaru was being overly suspicious so Rem was convinced he was with the witch's cult, the group that wiped out her clan and impaired her sister which we learned about later. That's why after he suddenly said he was leaving the mansion and proceed to suspiciously station himself at a nearby vantage point instead without reason, Rem proceeded to track him down and clap him once more. In conclusion. Rem didn't just kill him because she's a killer and neither did she have any personal grudge against him. She killed him because he appeared to be a threat to her home and sister, the two things she valued most. Her actions were 100% justified and logical.
So theres a cute scean cut from the books that other then emilia being extremely caring why she trusts subaru after he told her to get away from him is after sitting in his room not eating for days do emilia comes in to check on him and he jokes about emilia feeding him and she does so they kinda make up
Yeah in case you were warned yet. Id definitely skip watching the openings and endings of this show ESPECIALLY season 2 opening. But I suggest you try to check for post-end-scenes. I didn't know it at the time but I've missed a few very critical end credits scenes before by skipping before the credits were done and some of them were very important to what we perceived now or about to perceive in follow up episodes. One of them even answered a mystery component from this current arc even by just replaying a scene we've scene already but then hanging on a scene a bit longer and hearing 1 more line from that scene than what we've seen before. Which adds depth to intentions of like 3 characters in 1 go for example. So don't skip those nin-nins :p
The opening DOES NOT spoil it just gives contextless scenes at a point where you can vaguely guess a new enemy is appearing. Commenters spoil things the op does not. They don't show the second op until after episode 14 for a reason.
A lot of doubts will be explained later on..... maybe quite early or maybe quite far in the series..... But there will be hints. This show is like that.
Remember guys, from the next episode and onwards, the story keeps getting and deeper. There will be a lot of stuff to keep in mind. Also the ending is totally satisfying. Yes there is a directors cut too. But its literally the same as the actual show. Just minor background changes and 2 episodes are put together in one. And season 2 surpasses this season in every way. And season 3 will be Sick!!!
