I know people can’t stand it but I will forever cherish the New 52 run of Justice League, it’s such an experience, so fun and so cinematic. You can tell Geoff Johns had fun writing it.I get hooked reading it everytime. I will throw that book to any new reader. Well said list bro.
Admittedly I’m still making my way through but I consider this JL run excellent personally. It’s so engrossing and just FUN! I can’t remember exactly how I phrased it but when I read an arc of the Johns JL run it feels like I’m watching a summer blockbuster in the most complimentary way possible. Green Arrow Year One is a great starting point for new readers to Green Arrow or if they got into comics because of the Arrow show. Green Arrow Vol 1 Reunion by Joshua Williamson is another one. For readers who want to read Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle because of the movie then they need to read Blue Beetle Jaime Reyes by Keith Griffith and John Rogers Book 1 & 2.
Some DC books I've read recently that stand out....... Mister miracle tom king Joker/Harley criminal sanity Wonder woman dead earth Suicide squad blaze Green arrow year one Dark knights of steel (only read vol 1) There's loads more I could suggest but as I said these are recent reads 👍

@@TheComicBookReport it nothing ground breaking but it's a great little read. The art is fantastic. I can highly recommend joker/ Harley and suicide squad blaze was another very interesting read
N52 Flash was kind of meh for me. The REBIRTH era of Flash is where you get the AMAZING stories, when it comes to Barry Allen. For Wally of course there are the legendary runs by Waid, Morrison and Johns. That JL looks dope in terms of art. I might have to try it one day, though I'm not hearing great things. Weird, cause Geoff Johns usually hits it out of the park for me.
Yeah that JL run gets mixed reviews and I’ve never been entirely clear why. Johns is almost always a guaranteed hit for me and everything I’ve read of that run so far has been a ton of fun. My only criticism so far is that the stories are all these great epic blockbuster like stories but we don’t always go deep with the central characters. I need to read more of the rebirth era flash I read the first two deluxe editions that came out from Williamson and I liked but didn’t love them. The art is outstanding and stories were not bad but didn’t grip me out of the gate too much, does that run continue to improve? I know it had a huge fan base and I really like Williamson in general. I’ve also yet to get to that Morrison run in Flash, I know it’s smaller but still worth the read? ⚡️
All Star Superman is the perfect start for superman and for batman it is undoubtedly year one. For an overall entry, I would actually go with Flashpoint amd then get started with the new 52. Also, if you wamt elseworlds, you could go Kingdom Come as well. And if you want a great comic out of the main continuity, go with Watchmen. It's too f-ing good man.
Love what I’ve read of all of these! The only one I have yet to dabble with is Lemire’s GA! I know he came in a bit after the new 52 debut of that solo character run. Do I need to read anything to lead into the Lemire era or can you read his GA run fairly standalone?
@@TheComicBookReport no! Absolutely not! It stands alone very nicely! If you read brubaker/fraction iron fist, it’s VERY similar! Im sure you love it! Plus that Sorrentino art 😍 If you want ANOTHER great start for green arrow- GREEN ARROW YEAR ONE IS FANTASTIC!! Another shoutout- Brubakers catwoman! This seems to be getting lost in the shuffle and that bothers me lol. If you like daredevil, this is basically a daredevil run for catwoman!

I’ve read most of Todd McFarlane’s run with David Michelinie on Amazing Spided-Man. I did unboxing of the omnibus that collected that run: ua-cam.com/video/d2UE4tLIPV0/v-deo.html And I read his complete run on his own Spider-Man series in an omnibus that collected it-I reviewed that here: ua-cam.com/video/qVO8UhTerOk/v-deo.html The Michelinie era came out before his Spider-Man run. I don’t believe either run had an origin story involved.
I like Cliff Chiang's art work. But didn't enjoy this story. There is this long winded goal to that is shown to be pointless at the end. Found it fell flat as a story. Also I really didn't like the wonder woman run. He only did half the art work and it isn't recognisable like his work is today. The best part of that WW run, we're the covers. I would skip the book.
Dude I like your channel a lot but lately you just keep rehashing the same books and material in every video. Maybe take some time off and finish some new books and then make more videos. Seems like you are just making content just to make sure you have a video out. In my opinion it’s hitting your quality and page. Just some creative criticism take it for what you will. Almost every top 5 video you mention at least 3 books that you have already talked about at nauseam. This time it was new 52 JL, Batman the knight and lonely city.
I appreciate the feedback and I’ll definitely keep it in mind. The impetus for this video was largely driven by newer commenters who expressed that they were new readers. It had been a minute since I’ve catered just newer readers or watchers. I chose books that I have spoken about frequently but also I believe served this prompt or video concept. Definitely noted, though I understand how it can be tiresome to see repeats of the same books for those that frequent my channel with greater regularity .

Anything that is penned by Geoff Johns is a great book for me. Also Scott Snyder's new 52 Batman is a 14:05 great starting point if you love Batman.
