      And “skytravel” callsign is only for charter flights... ;) they use Czech airlines callsign, but you are flying with slovakia part of travel service, but they dont exist right now.. they have only go2sky..
      Travel service is now renamed to Smartwings.

      Thank you, Bud! Always glad to see you around in the comments section :). Winter is mild, only had a few days of frost and snow, now it's back to 10 degrees C again... Finished university, now going through the selection process of real world flight training, so exciting times! :)

    Hi and thanks for video. I have got the question, do we need to report of entering to holding pattern and exit of it also?

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  4 роки тому

      Officially yes, but in practice I don’t hear it that often. Passing the holding fix in between entry and exit should not be reported

    What if Im flying a smaller aircraft without an FMC, do I have to fly the racetrack manually for two hours?

    • @antikrabe8646
      @antikrabe8646 2 роки тому

      Generally speaking, yes. At least you will change heading bug for autopilot flying. But if your aircraft equipped with modern GPS like Garmin GTN750 or so, you can set it up for flying holding pattern automatically.

  • @scopestacker9787
    @scopestacker9787 2 роки тому

    Another reason could be that the weather is too bad to approach.

  • @GrumpyOldMan9
    @GrumpyOldMan9 3 роки тому

    You've entered a left-hand turn in the FMC, but the pattern the plane flies is a right-hand turn (?!)

    Do you always exit the hold at the fix as well?

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  5 років тому +2

      Usually yes, because your route continues there, however ATC may also give you a direct to a different waypoint beyond the hold fix, in that case you simply direct to that waypoint.

    Great explanations of holding patterns. But my PMDG 737 always screws up holds, never does any of the intercept patterns correctly unless its an extremely straightforward entry. Do you have any experience with this?

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  5 років тому +1

      Thanks! I'm not sure how well the real 737 flies holding patterns, but I do notice stuff like that too. Best thing to do is to keep monitoring and if necessary intervene by using one of the more manual modes of the autopilot.

    Question: Are the folding patterns on the map ‘to scale’, as in, are the lines on the map what your path should look like in the plane.
    Because my patterns are always larger then it looks on the map.

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  3 роки тому

      No, the patterns are based on time, given for example the one minute legs, so it will not look the same as depicted on the chart.
