FYI shrikes are bugged right now, some shrike seekers will give you a tone without actually tracking, or they'll track without ever giving you a tone. For now this is what I do: for SA-2, SA-5, SA-10 and SA-19s use the 2-6GHz broadband (will target the tin shield of the SA-5 and the big bird of the SA-10, you can't get shrikes to guide on the tracking radars right now as far as I can tell) for SA-3, SA-6, SA-8 and SA-11 use the 6-10GHz G bias (although SA-11s don't appear to take damage from shrikes)
@@92HazelMocha AGM-78 isn't too late for F-4E, it was fielded in 1969, used on F-105G and A-6 Intruder in Vietnam, later by F-4G. But it's juste that it wasn't used on F-4E...
Important to note: The target altitude needs to be dialed into the WRCS manually (a WSO job). In this case it didn't really matter as the target is pretty much at sea level.
Came back after testing higher up. You are right, the altitude input is very important at high altitudes as it is used for distance calculation, which feeds into release timing. I've updated the video description with this info. Thanks
Note that this mode is supposed to be used with missiles set to Loft Attack in arming panel, but I'm not sure if the ballistics in WRCS are correct yet for that, didn't have time to fly it a lot yet
The pointing down is for the ins to calculate best point to release based on stored parameters. Shrike is completely dumb and has no own guidance apart from radar receiver. it doesn't know it's supposed to go there nor does it try to. Imagine it's a ccrp on a dumb rocket and the pointing down and lock is the targeting pod that gives the ccrp location
you can easily do it yourself. just open the mission in the mission editor, and change one of the existing aircrafts to the F-4E. if you don't want to change an existing aircraft you can just copy and past an existing aircraft and change it's type. be sure to edit the Names as well
Dude loved the "f* that guy" surprise... And the final plot twist when the missile missed, this was cinema😂
That was gold. Actually super useful video and actually made me laugh out loud. Great job!

They really should've modeled the AGM-78 as well. Fighting telephone poles with telephone poles of your own.
Destroying a SAM site... with a modified SAM. I find this so very poetic.
AGM-78 is too late for this F-4 model.

Good point. I'll have to try it at high altitude

@@Dzsekeb You're welcome 🙂
Shrikes are most definitely not harms, can't wait to do this the old way :)
dr. Sebek, excellent work
Finally someone uses the grease pencil for what it was intended for! 😁
No matter what Shrike setting i use or how it is employed, i can't get them to hit the S-75 track radar. :(

Where did you get this from? The manual lists Loft as a separate mode, and doesnt specify sensor settings for WRCS mode
That's a pretty good and concise tutorial! I like it! 👍
1:44 how do you canopy write?
Click the canopy at that spot, it should be interactable.
Concise useful and funny tutorial good sir
does this only work if you know the location of the target beforehand as you need to know its altitude?
Yes, this mode requires some level of preplanning. That said the altitude just needs to be in the ballpark. (the dial is in 100s of feet anyway)
Did you select the Loft Attack profile when selecting your seeker type by any chance?
No, it was set to direct
Do you need to have a waypoint on the radar or is the calculation done solely with the shrikes
Afaik, waypoint is not needed. It seems to take the position where you point your hud at the moment you press and hold bomb release.
@@Dzsekeb thx

@@vladcojocaru8161 Makes sense, thx
I keeping seeing/reading that Shrikes keep falling short in WRCS mode, is it a bug?
Not sure yet. Feels like a range issue, like they run out of energy. Might just be bad execution of the pullup on my part in the video.
Mine seem to go sailing WAY over the target. Like not even close
finally a shrine tutorial
do u plan update pretense to add this plane?

Simple and best no talk
great video, sadly radar seems to lost lock or something that's why they didn't track right
The shrikes themselves are somewhat inaccurate and frequently miss
no shrikes are litteraly that bad lol
this is a good video
excellent video
Far out that was funny.
Which seekers did you use on your Shrikes and what seetings did you use to make the SA-2 track you, but not fire? Engagement range?
The sam site didn't have any launchers, just a search and a track radar. The shrikes were equipped with the seeker for the flat face radar.
Great video. Thanks for the lulz.
lmao great video
clever
