Most excellent. This will not be the last listen for this incredible British band. Their catalog is impressive.
Supertramp was one of the best bands of the ‘73 - ‘80. Best album imo is Crime of the Century… but perhaps the most fun is Breakfast in America.
I concur, conversationally I would add only that Asylum from the Crime Of The Century album is probably my favorite Supertramp song
I worked in a small clothes store in the mall in the late 70's, we played Breakfast in America on repeat!
Couldn't agree more.
@@richardcranium5048 Sigh, the days when a packet of fags was 15p.
Yep. Breakfast is the one I've replaced several times because of damage, loss etc.
It's one of those recordings I like to keep in whatever vehicle I'm driving.
That's one of their best songs. Try "Long Way Home" "Goodbye Stranger" and "Dreamer" and you won't be disappointed.
Take the Long Way Home
@@justineapril7922
You take the long way home....
Don't sleep on 'School' and 'The Logical Song'
From Now On
Love long way home...poignant
Supertramp to me is if Pink Floyd and Steely Dan have a baby lol🔥🤘✌my 3 favorite bands.
beautiful
Hah! I always heard it like a combo of Pink Floyd & Elton John - y’know, an artist with strong pop hook sensibilities!
I agree 😂
To me Supertramp were a cross between Genesis and 10cc, prog with a pop/art rock edge
Omg--- that's perfect!!😂
Never realized how much they can sound like Floyd on some of their songs...
Please more Supertramp. You won't regret!
Yesss!
Lord luvs ducks finally Supertramp woooooo😂❤
Love Supertramp. 🧡
No one sounds like Supertramp. So unique! And creative!
YES!
Now, you've listened to Supertramp, y'all are gonna enjoy this...
Supertramp is considered one of the great prog/rock/art rock Pop bands ever😅 they are just that good man.crime of the Century is a monster album
Dam you guys what a rabbit hole. Breakfast in America was a huge tour. Wit till you see the cover it was everywhere.
Ohhhh wait till you check out School, crime of the century, fools ovature, the logical song, dreamer to name a few.. I knew you would love it as soon as it started.
Cheers boys!!
Supertramp's sound is all their own. It's Rock, it's Blues, it's Pop, it's Jazz and it's something unique in the middle of all of that. Two of the greatest albums of the 1970s are Supertramp's Crime Of The Century (from where this is from) and Even In The Quietest Moments, though they found their biggest success in the more commercial Breakfast In America. Definitely and band worth exploring.
A lot of people don’t give Even in the Quietest Moments its due.
You forgot 'funk'. These guys get down right funky.
Agreed. All three LPs are masterpieces. The live shows were nuts good.
@@hklinker A shame, really. I'd put it as one of the decade's best. Almost at a level with Dark Side Of The Moon.
@@rk41gator Absolutely, yes, thank you! Just the bridge of Sister Moonshine shows a deep understanding of Funk.
Welcome to the world of Supertramp, enjoy the ride
Oh, what a rabbit hole you fellows have discovered. So much more!
You lucky lucky Dudes... getting to ride through the 70's in just one year. The whole decade is a rabbit hole... of excellence and innovation musically.
Yes!!--And check out "Even In The Quietest Moments"!! -another great one!
You have heard them for sure, just don't know it's them.
Amazing band!!
Goodbye Stranger
Seems to me that "The Logical Song" is their most-played-on-the-radio.
You’re going to LOVE The Logical Song by Supertramp!
Definately check out "School". In the 60's and 70's it seemed like every week there was something amazing coming out of the UK.
Oh, and in so glad you guys moved the insert!
Great band with a great, unique sound. They incorporate so many different genres , but over all they are a prog group for me. Enjoy getting to know them.
This is one of my favorite bands. Very catchy songs, with tremendous musicianship. Enjoy.
"Crime of the Century" is a start-to-finish rock album masterpiece.
The entire Crime Of The Century album is audio and musical gold. One of the best-made albums of the 70s. Supertramp had a unique trademark kinetic rhythmic-dynamic gradual buildup they used a lot (though not in this tune) and it never got old. Do the whole album or listen to a lot of them and you will know exactly what I mean.
Great reaction. A classic. I knew y'all would like this one. Supertramp produced several engineering masterpieces. Recording wizardry was one of their things.
Love ❤Supertramp! Saw them Live in Houston in ‘79. Even in the Quietest Moments is my favorite album.
Bloody well done / thanks guys (bout time) / this band is gonna rock your world
Great reaction. Very deep catalog for Supertramp. One of the best bands of the 70's. Check out Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, Goodbye Stranger, Give a Little Bit.
Saw Supertramp 4 times, brilliant live. Boys you are listening to the soundtrack of my teens. 60s 70s 80s greatest time to be a music lover. Went to highschool with John Helliwell's cousin, looked just like John.
Supertramp secret weapon is John Helliwell on sax and multi-instrumentalist. Always added fantastic texture to the sound of the band.
Supertramp is another band that I credit my mom's influence on me, she brought these albums in the house when they were released in the late 70's and into the early 80's. Thanks mom for being so cool!
This album introduced me to Supertramp. Every song....fantastic.
I've seen Supertramp live in concert more than any other band. What a jam, dancin in the aisles good time!!!! 👍 😊
What a way to get introduced to Supertramp! One of their best songs imo. ✌🏼❤
I was 14 in 74’ when this came out great song great album great band and LIVE is even better!
Crime of the Century is one the best albums ever made imho.
This song is off their breakthrough album called "Crime of the Century". Each song on that landmark album is well worth a reaction from you both! Try "School" next and if you like that one, carry on and react to the rest - you won't regret it!
Saw them 2 times in Toronto,Even in The Qu Moment tour was the best show I have seen,im 63 and have seen a few gigs, that show was large.
There are a ton of reactions on UA-cam to various songs off their iconic album Breakfast in America, and reactions to the entire album. And it's incredible don't get me wrong. But this came out before that when I was in grade school and it just imprinted on me. I remember thinking it was such a cool blend of funk and rock and just hard rock. It was great. I'm so glad you guys discovered this.
Great band, and often overlooked other than by its fans.
La & Che! Welcome to the world of Supertramp! As others in the comments section have said, you're in for a wild ride if you continue down their rabbit hole! They're an excellent and eclectic band, so enjoy! Love, Peace & Blessings my Brothers!!!
Supertramp, what a rabbit hole to dive into and enjoy!
Supertramp is WELL worth your time, gents. Enjoy the journey.
The whole Crime of the Century album is magical, played it constantly and it still sounds fresh
Supertramp is by far the most underrated of the 70s progressive rock bands and they stand equal to other greats like Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, Rush, ELP. They have such a refined and unique sound. They are a very worthy rabbit hole to jump into. They are fantastic!
The whole album "Crime of the Century" is great but the title track is sublime.
"Bloody Well Right" was released as the B side of the "Dreamer" single, but it's really a response to the previous song on the album "School" - there's no gap between the songs on the album, the opening chord of "Bloody Well Right" could just as easily be the final chord of "School", and the first line is "So you think your schooling's phoney"
Those are two songs that I think are best played together.
This is a Grown Band that Definitely deserves a Deep Dive into that Rabbit Hole. 👏😉😎☮️🔥💯
Excellent first reaction and good song choice. Stick with album versions of Supertramp at least for a few songs to get a feel for them. They are great!
I was 17 years old when I saw Supertramp in concert at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, WA. August 1, 1975. They basically performed the entire Crime of the Century album, including this song. I was blown away. I didn't know at the time how lucky I was to grow up during this musical era. I'm glad to see newer generations appreciating what I enjoyed as a kid. You are going to really like Supertramp.
Saw them in buffalo on 4\18\75 played the same and were amazing.
My older brother was there with you at the Paramount that evening. I remember he told me the next day that his big, wide Swaby's pant legs were vibrating during the concert and tickling his legs!
Always love the Tramp!
Yes!! Supertramp, Breakfast in America
Because I only heard Supertramp on the radio in my youth, they largely escaped my attention. It wasn't until I started listening to them with headphones and heard their incredible mix that I fell in love with them.
This is such a masterpiece. Great musicianship, funky, jazzy, rock, great vocals and some wit to it, too.
Take the track listings of their 3 albums Crime Of The Century, Even In the Quietest Moments, and Breakfast In America, pick up a dart, throw it at the list of all those songs...every single song is an amazing, or at least a great song and well worth reacting to. They are one of the greatest bands of the 70s and should be widely explored.
This is my favorite SuperTramp song 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 there musicianship is as good as Steely Dan ! Definitely worth a dive ❤️
They are genre-fluid. Great band.
You two will like SuperTramp they are excellent musicians
Their album, “Breakfast in Amerca” is an awesome album to react to. Very popular in the late seventies, early eighties.
Saw them once playing this tour.
Keep diving on Supertramp. They are a really good band. Their production was top tier for their time. Great sound!
The album this came from, "Crime of the Century", is one my 5 favorite albums of all time. It is SO amazing and different than anything released before it or since. Incredible writing, musicianship, and it's production is almost as good as Steely Dan's "Aja". Every one of the 8 songs is gold, and they've got a guy who can throw in a few bars of sax or clarinet, or other woodwind or percussion instruments in just the right places to blow your mind. To me, it's like Dark Side of the Moon, cuz when it's finished, you feel like you've been taken on a trip, an experience a little dark but so musically unique, it will affect you for quite a while. Classic.
Also in my Top 5!
Whole album is fantastic
Great reaction, guys! Their "Goodbye Stranger" is one of the best cruising songs ever.
Child of vision ,wil blow your mind
Supertramp has a large catalog of great music!
Let's hear Rudy next. Best train ride you'll ever find !
I'd forgotten how good this was. Thanks. "Long Way Home" was the one that really got me, though, that sad desperate blues harp wailing at the beginning, I knew just how he felt...
You won't regret getting into this band gents, top musicians one and all. One of the best bands around in the seventies and beyond, enjoy the journey.
You guys are in for a treat if you keep digging into these guys...keep them coming
Their Even in the Quitest Moments and Crime of the Century albums are groundbreaking to say the least!
So glad you are checking out this song - Supertramp was like wallpaper back in the day, you heard them all of the time on the radio and I confess I never liked them much - but since falling into the reaction video rabbit hole I am rediscovering them digging them so much, especially this song and "School" - keep going with Supertramp! Hugely underrated, what excellent music came out of the 70s/early 80s. 40+ years ago!
Great Reaction. Thank You. One of my Favorite Bands!
Thanks again. I never really listened to the musicality- I just loved listening to Supertramp🇦🇺🙏🇺🇸
Love supertramp ❤
They have quite the catalog of wonderful pieces. Excellent sound. The Logical Song, Give a Little Bit, Dreamer, Take the Long Way Home, etc. Enjoy! Thanks for sharing this one.
Great reaction! Supertramp we’re great! Great musicians and they matched it love to a T. Another very underrated band that I believe are not in in Rock & Toll HOF. If they’re not (I don’t think they’re) are deserving.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time!
Haven't watched yet and I know you guys are gonna love them
They have many great songs
You have stumbled upon one of the best groups of prog-rock musicians. They can get into some funky rock with these guys. They have a sound. You will not be disappointed, it is all wonderful.
And your journey begins... welcome to Supertramp.
Being an Official Old Fart, I got to see these gentlemen a LOT in person, and they are as among the Best.
🎹🎹🎹 🎸🎸
You guys will definitely enjoy the trip down this rabbit hole! Incredible band, seriously
Another great one boys, you guys are gonna love this band! Love you guys, thanks for this one.
And THAT is how you do an intro...live versions extend the intro, the outro gets jazzy with loads of sax added(the version from the live album Paris is superb)
In the 70s and 80s we spent our money on high-end stereo equipment, and if you went to a high-end stereo store Supertramp crime of the Century. We’re almost always be the album they would put on to demonstrate the sound one of the best produced albums ever
One of my all time favorites from this group - they're incredible. The SOUND is amazing.
This is part of my high school music! Supertramp’s album “Breakfast in America” is a must discover!
Giggled 3 times at your facial reactions, great tune
My Father had one hell of a Record collection. The day I dropped the needle on this one. Instantly a Fan.
Serious musicians who didn’t take themselves too seriously. You’ll have fun getting to know Supertramp 😎
I watch your reaction like 4 or 5 times it's priceless. I have seen Roger Hodgson 10 - 12 times live in concert totally blow you away.❤ from Canada 🇨🇦
If you want to here another banger from this multi talented band it’s School of this same album Crime of the Century. Thanks for what you guys do❤
Very talented band.
Thanks so much for the reaction guys! This brought me back to the first time I heard this song and entire album about 50 years ago (omg I'm old!). "Crime of the Century" is an amazing album. Dive into more Supertramp and I guarantee you'll love it.
Breakfast in America is an awesome album!
Recorded at Trident Studios on one of the best sounding mixing desks ever made. The list of bands who used the same studio is impressive. Elton John, Carly Simon, Queen, Genesis, Frank Zappa, Joan Armatrading, Rolling Stones, Tina Turner etc... They had a Bechstein Grand piano that had a particularly full sound that artists loved.
Joan Armatradind is also highly underrated. I saw her every time she came to the twin cities. Incredible music!
Nothing like a Ken Scott production. He's my favorite. I caught Supertramp on their final tour in '82. They played their asses off. Fantastic band.
Or maybe it was '83. I remember we got their autographs because my friend won a contest he entered the same day.
Saw them in concert on April18, 1975 at Kleinhans Music Hall Buffalo NY. Probably the best concert I've ever attended and I saw a whole bunch back in those days...they played the whole Crime of the Century album and a couple cuts off Crisis What Crisis. Suggest "School" and my all-time favourite "Rudy". Great review as always.
This song was all over the radio. Their sax player also played for Thin Lizzy. 🤟
GREAT band...👍👍👍👍 DREAMER or GIVE A LITTE BIT next please...!!
