  • Sex, murder, fake witnesses, and forgeries. All of these things ran rapid through Rome in 186 B.C. In fact scholars think that there may have been a crime wave happening in Italy during this time. The Senate upon hearing the words of Consul Postumius, with their left hand, dished out justice by declaring a Senatus Consultum. Consul Postumius acts swiftly and Italy is restored, the conspiracy destroyed, and the worship of Bacchus regulated.
This was just a fun little video. I did not put as much effort into this, research wise, than I did my other historical videos. Mainly because finding scholarly works on the subject proved to be difficult. However, the secondary sources I used were good enough for the approach I had in mind. I hope you enjoy it!
Also the word coniuratio was very difficult to pronounce and I feel I may have butchered the word.

Bacchus is worshipped through the university system. Bacchus is always depicted with a crown of ivy leaves, this is why the top schools in USA are the IVY LEAGUE schools.
When we graduate from college, we get our “baccalaureate” degree.

Hey man just want to say that this is a dope vid but what I found very very interesting and subtle was your complete knowledge of the functioning of the Roman administrative state. Impressive

Nice video! Reminds me of my University studies in history. There was always a dark and deeply hedonistic underside of Roman society. Blaming it all on a Roman reinterpretation of Greek culture is typical. The amazing Roman capacity to seize a positive or popular idea. Then push it, to it's most incredibly toxic extreme? Never ceases to amaze me.
Sadly today records of the past, are not just incomplete. "History," is composed of writings which all too often were subject to the dogma of the Roman Catholic church. Where written records were subjected to dogmatic rewriting and dogmatic cleansing. Where banned and forbidden scrolls, books and documents were burned. Along with the "heretics," who possessed them. It leaves researchers today, with at best, a deeply dogmatic, and likely false vision of the past. Trying to ferret out what actually happened? Is at best difficult, and at worst unverifiable, in any meaningful manner.

@@henripentant1120 the purists amongst the revolutionaries want every degeneration available. Just sayin'..
I am not a christian, but considering the nature of the blood cults, which exists to this day, I understand more the Christian revulsion towards paganism.

Yeah and everyone thought that the rumours about satanism were too or the "conspiracy theory" about famous and rich being pedophiles till Epstein... the details about the cult practices and the informers to the Consuls seems credible from a criminalistic point of view. I believe still today we have problems with these kind of cults.

Also a "curse" is a good thing because it is an absolute to living an uncontrollable authenticity.

Lol, no! I’m in the process of learning Latin and sometimes there is a slip of the tongue in pronunciation. I leave it in there because it’s technically correct and I never see it as a problem. I say Macedon both ways. If I say a word a certain way during recording however, I say it the entire video for consistency. “Makedon” is the Latin pronunciation.
