TLoPM Part IV | Pompey's Growing Insecurity, Conference at Luca, Consulship of 55, Death of Julia
Переглядів 581Рік тому
Pompey is starting to crumble under the constant and persistent pressure of being disliked. He is attacked by all sides even by his triumvir allies. When all hoped seemed lost, Pompey regains the initiative thanks to Cicero which earned him a consulship though at the cost of violence. With Julia now dead there is now a chance that Pompey might move closer with the optimates. Only time will tell...

After a period of rest and relaxation, Rome invades Africa. Consul Regulus pillages the countryside while Carthage has to rely on its newly recruited Greek mercenaries. One such mercenary was a Spartan Greek called Xanthippus who, ironically, will teach the Carthaginians on how to properly use elephants. Rome ends up smashing the Carthaginian Fleet, but five years later, with some catastrophic ...

New Vegas is one of the most unique places in the wasteland. You know who resolved every issue in this entire region, and New Vegas? Me. (Or you.) The Courier. You know who didn’t? The NCR, The Legion, Mr. House, and anyone else. Ever. New Vegas belongs to The Legendary Courier. The most extraordinary individual to ever walk the wastes. General Oliver’s questions are ridiculous, and he knows it. Yes. The Courier can handle all of those quests. Easily. The Courier will need, and take advantage of, advanced technology to make the entire area, and beyond, the best it can be. Because that’s what The Courier does.

Another argument against General Oliver's argument is that by the end of the game, for the most part, the Courier HAS already done all of those things. And if they decide to take over Big MT at the end of old world blues, they actually have the resources to do so as well. It's just not an option in the game.

    • @dy1angi11ey6

Exactly. The Yes Man ending is entirely up to the players interpretation. Right after the 2nd battle of Hoover Dam, the Mojave is described as chaotic but in the long term it could be anything from anarchy to a small successful nation formed by all the towns and factions the courier is allied with. Obviously obsidian didn’t include this in the ending slides because it’d be impossible to create endings for every possibility the player decides their courier will end up doing.

Is there enough information in the historical sources for a series or maybe at least a long form video on the life of Marcus Agrippa? I know there's not as much about him as there is on most emperors or even some praetorian prefects, plus the fact that he seemed to prefer staying in the background. Anyway, love the channel and really appreciate your dedication to the details.

Bro I’m blown away something of this quality is as obscure as it is. Throught the like maybe 3 or 4 hour series, I’ve gotten what I think is a decent understanding of who Cato was (not just a little weirdo villain who exists only to be a foil to cesar, but like a human being that’s also a little weirdo but had beliefs and morals of his own) and also a very detailed account of what the conservative faction did during that time frame and why. Superb work bro no doubt. This deserves more eyes on it

Sounds pretty much like we suspect is happening right now with our elites all around the western world. That a portion of them have been secretly involve in some sort of conspiracy to act like "a second state" and bound among them by secret pacts and criminal rituals in order to seal their allegiance to these cults and ensure their secrecy... which is reasonable to assume that what we call in generic fashion "satanism" is the continuity and evolution of this pagan cults to dark deities. And is not only of Greek origin, the Canaanean gods and those of eastern pantheons related to the old gods of the Canaaneans practice also this kind of debauchery.

People talk about how we'd need to send the Securitrons to protect Hoover Dam from NCR. lol no we don't. With the Override Chip installed at the Dam's control room, We can literally have Yes Man control the Dam's workings, shut them down, or as a last resort, disable them entirely, all from the Lucky 38. Prior to Vegas declaring independence, the Dam only operated at half-efficiency, and the NCR used 95% of that. I'd probably get the Dam operating at 100% efficiency, and rework a new deal with the NCR for Water and Electricity. Any act of aggression would be just plain stupid on their part because they depend way too heavily on Vegas for these precious resources. The idea that the NCR would seek revenge anytime while the F.E.Z of Vegas is still developing is laughable, because they're nowhere near any position to try that sort of thing, and my position is still the strongest because I have the ultimate leverage; Hoover Dam. And the one with the strongest position in a negotiation is the one who sets demands. Also, with Kimball alive and scapegoated, the whole Mojave campaign will be seen retrospectively in a poor light. Namely, as a huge waste of soldiers and resources. Any act of aggression would only make that worse, because it would leave HUGE amounts of the NCR without a steady supply of power and water, which leads to even MORE taxes, which is horrible for their polls, which would already be in a decline to begin with thanks to Kimball and Oliver. AND, assuming the player does all that good stuff for the NCR in the Side Quests, a huge amount of the Military and Rangers would respect us WAY more than their own Government, which only makes things even more untenable for any Anti-Vegas blowhards in the NCR.\ NCR a threat? Please. I have them eating out of my hands.

@@ethicalapemen3686yup, except with yes man's ending those plans and all that power are no longer in the hands of an egotistical multi billionaire who would probably cave to all that unchecked power despite what he claims. At least the Courier is someone who knows what actual self sacrifice is and someone who has actually talked to and directly put their ass in the line of fire to help the people of the Mojave (assuming we're talking about a courier who is actually good). Shit would still not be easy in the Mojave but it's a whole lot better than an egomaniacal autocrat with absolute power who is much more susceptible to the corruption that power will inevitably bring.

Nice video! Reminds me of my University studies in history. There was always a dark and deeply hedonistic underside of Roman society. Blaming it all on a Roman reinterpretation of Greek culture is typical. The amazing Roman capacity to seize a positive or popular idea. Then push it, to it's most incredibly toxic extreme? Never ceases to amaze me. Sadly today records of the past, are not just incomplete. "History," is composed of writings which all too often were subject to the dogma of the Roman Catholic church. Where written records were subjected to dogmatic rewriting and dogmatic cleansing. Where banned and forbidden scrolls, books and documents were burned. Along with the "heretics," who possessed them. It leaves researchers today, with at best, a deeply dogmatic, and likely false vision of the past. Trying to ferret out what actually happened? Is at best difficult, and at worst unverifiable, in any meaningful manner.

I think NCR is very corrupt in new vegas tímeline they dont deserve to gain new vegas. When courier is doing all good choices he will have a lot of allies and friends. Like you can even have a good reputation with NCR when you side with yes man and let go general Oliver. I think towns will take care of them selves. Jacobstown peacefull ending, Goodsprings will beat prisoners gang, Khans will sell medicine, Brotherhood when they will go for patrols across mohave. Boomers will not be so isolated. Primm will have their courage one sheriff. Hellios will provide elektricity to everyone equal. Kings in freeside will have a trade deal with NCR. Followers have at least everything you can provide to them. And for security of yes man I think its better to have not upgrade securiton Army. Yes man looks very strange :D and there is no one else who can after ending stop him when something goes wrong.
