Can you think of any other examples of a dying-reviving god from world mythology?

Great to hear some classical Greek history and mythology from another Aussie! I studied Classical Studies in Adelaide during the 90s and it was a very interesting subject. We did read The Bacchae in class. I also visited Greece close to the same time and saw some of the ancient sites. Just recently, I ordered my own copy of The Bacchae and have started reading it again for my own interest.

Reviewing Dyionysus myth in light of the Paris Olympic Games 2024 controversy. Greek mythology was the first story book my dad bought me when I was in the primary school.

As always well presented and said Kelly! Two more clues for you 🙂Orpheus is the one who created and invented Dionysian mysteries and celebrations, also the hole india philoshopy and religion is dedicated from or at Dionysus from the time he defeated them and placed the greek columns in their area and till now is the only clean polytheistic religion still remained on mother Earth because let us not forget that Zagreus-Dionysus (first Dionysus) was Zeus beloved child!

Many things surprised me about Dionysus as he married Ariadne of Crete or he launched a Campaign against India!

It's history because it's historical religious beliefs. The worship of these Gods guided one of the most important civilizations in Western history.

Of course you'll be called god or goddess if you are expert in something. The god of bitcoin probably Satoshi N.? God of electricity maybe N. Tesla? Or could be possessed by god those experts. Anything is possible.

The Difference between Jesus and other gods that went to the underworld, is that Jesus did not come back to exact revenge - Jesus died for our sins and came back to save humanity.
