Just a correction. Mechanical keyboard enthusiast these days do not care about Cherry MX. And we have more premium options as well.

The mounting plate for the joystick is universal, so you can *mount* any type of joystick you want. However, the enclosure itself isn't thick enough and there isn't enough clearance for most American style levers, which take up much more internal real estate than Japanese style levers. So even though 8bitdo says that any joystick will fit, that's only true mechanically speaking.
I'm still using my Madcatz Xbox 360 Soulcalibur stick (works on switch with an adapter). Fightsticks are great for most 2D games that control with d-pad.
This looks like a good joystick for me. I'm an old school Street Fighter player that stop playing fighting games for the last 10 years or so. Thinking about getting back into it. This might be a good starting stick for me.
I bought an RG35XX a few days ago and found that I was really enjoying the old arcade games that came with it. I think part of the reason I enjoy the arcade games is because I just don't have the time to invest in lengthy video games anymore. Anyway, I decided to get an emulator box to hook up to my TV and the 8bitdo arcade stick to play arcade games. I'm looking forward to the arcade nostalgia this weekend! It's really a shame that arcades are so rare to find anymore. I remember when every mall had an arcade.

Wired > 2.4 GHz > Bluetooth for latency and stability. Also, for anyone that likes Sanwa but feels the JLF stick is too loose, give the JLW paired with an octagonal gate a try.
I got mine last week and while the buttons are not the highest quality the fact its pretty easily modded means for a few bucks it's not a huge deal to change them out for standard Japanese parts
iOS supports using a DualShock 4 as a controller option and the gripless SN30 works wonderfully in "mac" mode on iOS. I don't see why this wouldn't work either for iPhones and iPads. Also japanese arcade stick buttons generally are extremely linear. I haven't played with Korean style yet though.

I'm only kinda into the mechanical keyboard scene (don't have a mech. board yet), but the reason Cherry is considered the standard by some is because they held the original patent for the mechanical keyboard switch. That patent expired some time ago, so other companies have been able to iterate on the exact same technology. Some aim for a lower price, others aim for higher quality or better feel. Some accomplish all of those. Gateron and Kailh/Kaihua are generally well regarded for making switches with comparable prices and quality to Cherry, often better. The only major advantage of a standard Cherry switch is quality control, and even that does not go unmatched. It's harder to tell where the line is drawn when we can't use universal definitions.)
