    The mounting plate for the joystick is universal, so you can *mount* any type of joystick you want. However, the enclosure itself isn't thick enough and there isn't enough clearance for most American style levers, which take up much more internal real estate than Japanese style levers. So even though 8bitdo says that any joystick will fit, that's only true mechanically speaking.

    I bought an RG35XX a few days ago and found that I was really enjoying the old arcade games that came with it. I think part of the reason I enjoy the arcade games is because I just don't have the time to invest in lengthy video games anymore. Anyway, I decided to get an emulator box to hook up to my TV and the 8bitdo arcade stick to play arcade games. I'm looking forward to the arcade nostalgia this weekend! "It's like the keyboard people. You want Cherry MX, everything else you're gonna want to replace"
    *r/mk entered the chat*
    WELL ACTCHUALLY
    fr tho, Cherry MX are considered some of the worst modern MX switches, second only to cheap clones like Otemu. Most other clones companies, like Kailh, Gateron and co have switches that are considerably better than anything Cherry offers at the moment.
    Some people have a liking for vintage MX Blacks, but the new ones are not as good from what I'm told.
    If you're in the market for a new prebuilt keyboard, I recommend you experiment a bit and maybe go with some Kailh Box Whites if you wanted Cherry Blues, or some Gateron Browns instead of MX Browns. You might just end up liking it more.

    • @notheotheralex6213
      @notheotheralex6213 4 роки тому +9

      I'm only kinda into the mechanical keyboard scene (don't have a mech. board yet), but the reason Cherry is considered the standard by some is because they held the original patent for the mechanical keyboard switch. That patent expired some time ago, so other companies have been able to iterate on the exact same technology. Some aim for a lower price, others aim for higher quality or better feel. Some accomplish all of those. Gateron and Kailh/Kaihua are generally well regarded for making switches with comparable prices and quality to Cherry, often better.
      The only major advantage of a standard Cherry switch is quality control, and even that does not go unmatched. (I hear Gateron's QC isn't as good, but I also hear that for their Zealios varieties specifically, it is as good. They seem to have shifted focus.)
      TL,DR: Thanks to healthy market competition, there are absolutely switches that you don't need to replace with Cherry.

    • @notheotheralex6213
      @notheotheralex6213 4 роки тому +1

      @Derek Kim Sorry, I meant to say "as we know it today," I'm not sure why I left that out. (Something to do with having to retype the whole comment after a misclick, maybe.) I am pretty sure "mechanical" (I _did_ specify mechanical, not all keyboard switches) is considered distinct from IBM's buckling spring switches (the model M had membrane after all), but yeah Alps fall pretty unambiguously under the mechanical umbrella. I totally forgot they existed, that's on me.
      (Side note: man... keyboard jargon is confusing. Nothing about rubber dome keyboards makes them not machines, but the line for "mechanical" is drawn to exclude them. It's harder to tell where the line is drawn when we can't use universal definitions.)
      (TL,DR/For the uninitiated spectators: the important things are that other companies can now make better use of Cherry's exact technology, but older competitors did exist -- they just had to use original designs, some of which did predate Cherry MX.)

    Great review Bob. I want one of these solely bc I love 8bitdo controllers so much. Got an SN30Pro, the Pro2 (gave my Pro+ to a nephew), a zero2 plus their NES themed Mouse and Mat and just got a pair of BT speakers.

    I don’t really play fighting games but a part of me wants one of these just for the nostalgia of playing games like Street Fighter II in arcades as a kid. I wish there was a way to use it with my PS5 too because that would make it a no brainer!

      There is a way. You can either replace the board with the Brook Universal Fighting board , or use an adapter like the Magic NS pro.

    "I'd imagine you could also get that to work with a raspberry Pi too if you wanna build your own arcade cabinet around this. Although, I have not tested that because that seem like a nightmare." This is what got me to both laugh and subscribe. lol Great video.

    I don’t usually leave comments but I’m grateful for this video I have like 60ish smash characters in elite smash and lost interest for a few months now I’m trying to challenge myself with a fight stick and this thing is amazing

    Yeah, I’m probably going to end up playing Starlink with this, also I’m going to be using this for smash with other people, so I might end up removing turbo and the macro buttons.

    I'd get it just for my PC, honestly. That's where the majority of my time in fighting and arcade games is spent, plus I think it'd be a nice companion piece for the Dragonslay stick I picked up a year or so ago(right around the time Strive was new, after Jack-O but before Chaos.)

    Ok, now I want it. Sometimes my thumbs hurts and it is better to play only with the index fingers and the palm of the hand on the joystick.

    4:44 Wait what!? THAT'S AWESOME!
    As I use my SN30 pro+ almost exclusively on my (Linux) PC, the Nintendo layout is often extremely confusing.
    Especially when switching to PC games and emulated Nintendo games...

    I keep wanting to get this stick for the NES Advantage vibes even though if I already have several fine x360 sticks I can run through brook adapters which I would also need for this thing looks like.
