    I remember having these when I was a kid. I remember getting them when I was at Toys R Us and it was the Smithsonian kit. Since I'm starting to get into fish tanking, I want to get these again

      I remember Toys-R-Us had super sea monkeys. Could that have been what you are mentioning? I could not find the triops in the Toys-R-Us website.

    I suspect "Tetra Min" fish food would work well. Many channels show that triops love carrots. I've also, when out of "Tetra Min", bought dried fish or cuttle fish and chewed it and put it in the tank.

    When I gradually changed the bottled water out for treated dechlorinated tap water a week after hatching the eggs thinking they all should be big and healthy enough to handle the change just fine, the next day all my triops died. So, I'm never doing that again.

    What a fantastic set up you have there. I'm hoping on my second attempt that I get some triops. All I got was million little white things that I can only see with my telescope. They look like a really cool pets! I breed lizards very well but I'm in a new territory with water pets but fingers crossed my 2nd attempt will work.. Thanks for sharing

    Cute little buggers. It is difficult to believe these frail little guys survived the K-T extinction event. They survived an impact with the force of 10,000 nuclear weapons with the yield of the czar bomba. A trillion tons of dirt and ash hurdled into the atmosphere creating a suffocating blanket of dust the sun was powerless to penetrate for a thousand years. Yet, these little fellows survived that. Humans could never survive that. I happened before. It will happen again. It's just a question of when. Will these resilient planet-mates survive the next extinction event? Humanity will not be around to know.

      you have you use a very low TDS water. natural spring water is the best! your tap water will have way to many minerals and such in it. they have to think it is a fresh puddle that will not dry up right away before they will hatch.

  • @MarquisDeSadie
    @MarquisDeSadie 4 роки тому

    Aw...Good ol My Triops.com (I recognize that food bag!). Not really 'processed' food (most of it is brewers yeast, spirulina, and other powdered goodies. (I actually enjoy allowing them to all grow up--fairy shrimp, daphnia and clam shrimp that are the most added to many triop bags sold by retailers. You have quite enough algae to keep em happy, try shavings of the middle of baby carrots (oh, edit to say that is TOO big, plus TAP WATER AND PRIMER!?? Gah. Rainwater, Evian Mineral..never chemicals!), Spirulina infusions, cauliflower..you must remember that triops develop largest and much stronger in desert mud puddles, letting chaos rule, and rainwater make what they eat. Not how 'good' they look.
    BTW? I know the 12 yr olds are loving the 'Blue Nuit Special' vibe, but afterall...It's science. Oh yeah, it is also pronounced TRY-ops.
