That FlakRad really lived out the RAD part, legend.
That was one of the most wholseme and comical things I have seen lately in war thunder.
I remember leaving a suggestion back in 2014 on the warthunder website saying that they should have 2 things. 1 being bomber cockpits (which they said they'd add very soon LMAO) and the other was the avro arrow because at the time there was less real things in the game and a devs response was that warthunder wouldn't be reaching into that era

Weird that they dont do better to listen to the community than to some one how never played that game what should be changed historicly it past by its line in some vehicles but every game have some kind of failures

At this point Gaijin has got themselves to the point that there's not going to be any more modern vehicles to add, so what are they going to do then? Paper tanks and prototypes are the only things left that they can add, or some of the more obscure older ones that people have been asking for, maybe this finally means that they'll add the Coelian back to the normal tree
I was hoping they would work on actual gameplay and fun game modes but that would be a stretch

We're still missing a ton of WWII vehicles, M7 Priest, M4A1 76 with HVSS, a bunch of US SPGs, Hummel, and a whole bunch of others, so I'd like them to focus on that for a few patches instead of top tier air and ground, which has been pretty much this whole year.
Not to mention the universal meme carrier with a 2 pounder gun.

If they focus on higher tier vehicals then it drives up sales of high tier premiums and such because otherwise they are unobtainable. Lower tier vehicals aren't as profitable for gaijin

Im glad that someone like Phly brought this up, I definitely think paper tanks would be a very fine addition to the game, I think the warthunder community needs to have this conversation because, in my opinion the game has long past the point where historical accuracy really matters, which is the primary complaint i have seen regarding paper tanks, and this is not even mentioning how these vehicles would allow nations outside of the big three to have more useable lineups
Yea as long as they are grounded in reality i'm happy with them being added.
(Grounded in reality basically being physically possible and the country having whats needed to construct it within reason, so no P1000)
I have no problems with some concepts and prototypes but there are so many real vehicles there can add so I think at the moment its not need for paper tanks. As there so many tanks that are not in game.
So long as they're properly balanced. I think the problem is that paper vehicles have paper stats (whereas real ones got nerfed by reality), so you've got half a tier suddenly becoming useless because of one bad BR placement.
Yeah they could definitely work. Sadly, like most things in War Thunder, a lot of decompression would be needed to make it work well
The 2s38 is the complete opposite of a good idea. I don't mind paper vehicles aslong as it was actually an option not just something Russia couldn't afford or something made up (ostwind 2 and 2s38)

Keep in mind that it's a spectrum from paper to purely fictional tanks. There's actual projects with detailed blueprints, then simple sketches and undetailed proposals, then complete "what-ifs" thought up by the game devs, then fantasy like the Warhammer tanks in WoT Blitz.
Yeah I'd like it at least blueprint vehicles. Not made up super machines that never existed in any form, not even a design or idea stage.
Snail will add American magach (patton) with abrams tower. I remember it from wiki, It is supposed to be given to more poor countries, but I don't remember if they already made it or if they are going to do. A lot of people remember that in WT is a lot of shermans, but there is even more german, jewish and american magaches. I wasn't playing WT for few months, so I don't remember if jews had their magach sabra, that they made for turkey (country not a big chicken). I won't be having nothing against if they add a lot of others magaches and their existing and not prototapes, just because somehow they are ridiculous for, hard to understand). They are as resistant as type 59.
My paper tank that I'd love to see is the Type 5 Ho-Ri II not too far fetch and there is an old drawing of it.

To confirm your experience phly, I have been getting framerate drops which I attributed to poor optimization.
I have the same issue, but it's with every single game I play. A quick alt-tab always fixes it. It has to be a Windows issue.
Same here it only started about like 3 weeks ago before that I never had it. For me it usually happens at the start of every match but after that not so many times.
I've had it since update before last, especially when free looking around. It'll be fine at like 100 fos then absolutely tank for about 3 seconds then be fine.
I don't have my hopes up about it getting fixed as not nearly enough people talk about it.
2A7V is a true beast, you can tell it's a big improvement from the other Leopards and I love it, it also looks so damn sexy!

Reminds me of Armored Warfare, back when I still played it, when the game was still relatively young. Most of the top tier stuff was mostly Science Fiction, like a T-14 Armata with a 152 mm gun, or a Leopard 2A7 with a 140 mm gun.
I miss the shirts when the F4 and MiG21 first dropped, I still wear the Phlying Circus shirt regularly when Steve partnered with champion for the shirts.

Phly I am very careful with this information because I don’t want it patched, but when somebody is behind smoke you can use the inner circle of the reticle to find where they are because you will notice it change when it’s on the target (more effective at close range)

I’d love more prototypes and paper vehicles in game honestly. It would give the smaller nations a lot more options! For example Italy could get the P43bis and the Japanese can get the O-I sorta tanks and Sweden gets the kranvagn

I think a good play for War Thunder, once they run out of all existing vehicles to use in-game, would be to add a battle mode called "Futuristic" or "Sci-Fi", and just incorporate vehicles inspired by ones from famous books, films and TV shows.

I’d love to see more paper designed because I made a digitalized drawing of a vehicle I named the M22-40-A1, An uprated engine, Revisted turret for slightly more headroom, A commanders cupola armed with a browning, a gyro stabilized 40mm gun, HHA instead of RHA addon composite arrow head turret that would “slide” onto the M22, A pike hull to maximize angle, Even those it looks like an IS-7.
My frames drop all the time in ground too it's really annoying. They just don't address or fix it ever either.
I think Gaijin could add India and possibly South Korea, though their tech trees will be much more limited

We already know that india have modified T90 (i wasn't playing wt for some time, so I don't remember all names). I mean birshma that was given to british tech tree (no soft kill system, but have more armor).

DM53 might be the strongest Ammo in the game but it is actually rather old. It got introduced in 1999. Since then we also went through DM63 wich goes like 120m/s faster because it has a bigger load and on the Leopard 2A7 we should already have DM73 wich compared to DM63 has another 8% increase in penetration. So the top tier leopard should be able to penetrate more like 750-800 mm of RHA.

Many people, including myself, would be happier with including what we call “Paper Panzers”, the paper projects from WWII. And now, even World of Tanks is doing it. The newer WWII RTS games are including these beasts that never were. So, yes, I thoroughly believe that it is about time that this happened. My idea for old paper vehicles is to add a prestige system. This will address not only paper vehicles but also levels in games.
So what if...after you reach lv 100, you can either stay at that lv and gain a small but persistent reward (like extra SL or RP after ever match), OR you can prestige, go back to lv 1 and when you do, you can select a vehicle that was removed (only tech tree, no battle pass or event vehicles) and research it. However you only unlock it after getting to lv 100 again. Once Lv 100 again you get the vehicle in the tech tree. You can then do the same thing, either stay at 100 and get a small (but slightly increased reward modifier since your a higher prestige) OR you can prestige again.
This would give people who are level 100 with all paper vehicles a bonus for getting to lv 100, allow people who want vehicles that were removed an opportunity to get them, without just giving them away, and would make getting to lv 100 an actual goal.
Im ok with adding Paper designs only if they are needed to flesh out line ups at certain BRs for certain nations. For example, Ger, USA and RU does not need any paper designs.
Paper vehicles....what about 4x4 with atgms? Might work as super light scouts and gives the low cal machine guns a job to do?
Prototype tanks from built models to designed mock ups may be something Gaijin has wanted to avoid for a long time now, but there is no denying how greatly it will expand the Lower and mid tier lineups considerably.

But knowing Gaijin, they'll try to squeeze as much money out of it as possible.
There are still SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many more vehicles to add. Britain for example has several lines of light tanks that could be added. ROK could be a tree, India could be a tree, etc. If they decide to add paper tanks I would hope there would be GRB+paper and GRB without paper modes. I would however prefer to see new game modes and mechanics. Plus there are vehicles with mine protection, if they added mines they could add the flail sherman, or any number of mine clearing vehicles/devices.

I play naval strictly and tanks as a second cause I only have a console it's hard to play planes, but I would just like to see some filler in the naval trees, there so bare on coastal and Bluewater, no so much premium but just some filler in the tech trees, but have loved your content for years papa phly, happy chto you and the family, this is my first Christmas with the loss of my mom, godbless fella

So that BVM round that went through the turret cheek and somehow also killed the guy on the other side of the breech; I've been experiencing some bizarre happenings with Russian apfsds. Yesterday I killed an M1A2 through the center of the turret cheek with the stock 457mm round on the BVM. Not sure that should've worked...

I think if they add blueprint (paper) vehicles they could add them so a player can start researching parts to construct the vehicle from the blueprint so long as they have the rank of the nation the vehicle is set on. (ex: US rank 4 tank blueprint requires you to at least be at rank 4 US ground to be able to start research and construction)
would allow them to be added without being as common as a tech tree vehicles or at least less players using them like a foldered vehicle is as it's not necessary to the tree

I dont mind paper takes. I like how world of tanks handles it. Its pretty cool. The thing that annoys me is when they have documents and ignore it example t25. Removed stabilizer because it looks different even though the documents say it had one and the model in game is the one with the stabilizer.

my headphone are broken and they only work at a specific angle but what I found weird is that when its not on that angle it perfectly cuts the exact frequency of Phly's voice and leave the game's sound untouched at a lower volume. what is happening lol

Adding paper tanks is truly the breath of life I've been waiting for. As someone who doesn't enjoy modern, the game hasn't really changed much for a long, long time. Some new WW2/Cold War heavy tanks would really reinvest me into the game. Maus II, add the Tiger 105, Panther II, Coelian, E-100 Casemate with 174mm cannon. Russian heavies out the wazoo. Japan's 3 seperate Super Heavy tanks lost to history or were fiction (no one knows). Americas plethora of heavies, mediums, and more. France, Italy would recieve some meta vehicles. Would really be a lot of fun.

Personally I think they should focus on adding new game modes that allow players to experience and use their current vehicles in different ways. This could also allow them add new types of vehicles entirely. Adding paper tanks is good, however it is still just more of the same.
maps, were all aircrafts, naval and armored vehicles could fight and earn SL,EP in comparing to custom mode, yeah.
maps were players could also fight against bots (accurete historically on acurate maps) yeah, something like simulation mode (super realistic) but not PVP but PVE
for more diversity, yeah.
Also I didn't noticed rewards in SM to be any bigger.
Or imagine adding system that could change br of some vehicles (only on personal account) and also thier repair cost, depending on how good or bad you are at using them it would be more fair for many people.
