and use my code "JUICEBOX" at checkout for $50 off your order! Thanks for your support! In this video we discuss amphibious RV's. Wow, what a concept! I honestly want one...but the fine print is that it's just not that simple.
#1 We have the Terra Wind Amphibious RV by CAMI and I'm not kidding in the video. I live near where this was manufactured and I will go solve this mystery if you guys are interested in it. camillc.com/
#2 is the Caraboat. This little rig is honestly really sweet. I think you could spend a summer in it if you were keen and maybe swapped in a composting toilet because 5 gallons of black water is not going to cut it. The fit and finish though is amazing and the 9 inch draft and dual motors which make turning in tight places easier means that you could really explore some amazing waterways. Australian's do it right. I want one! www.caraboatusa.com/
#3 the Sealander. This would be a very fun weekend camper. It's so light you could tow it with almost anything. Imagine navigating canals in England in this little camper, and visiting your friends in their narrowboats?! I don't actually think you'll find this in the US however. A defunct Facebook page is all that I could find. sealander.de/en/
#4 the Rollerboat! I seriously can't believe this exists. I need to try it. If you spam me in the comments and tell me to do it...I'll probably do it. www.rollerboat.com/
#5 What about a trailerable houseboat? Found one but the Lil Hobo just gets a big no thanks from me. I'd much rather grab a pontoon boat, build my walls and start from scratch. But if you find one of these for a steal, gut it and build your camper! I do think you could trailer this around pretty easily. www.catamarancruiser.com/8x31...

The DUKW fifth wheel conversion - I met the old fella who built it. I believe he's passed away now. He told me it would do 65mph on the road. I dont remember how fast on the water but he said it was decent. He said he drove it to Alaska and went fishing in the ocean with it. He was a cool old guy and a genius to have built that thing

There´s a small 23-foot houseboat in the UK, that fits on a trailer, and works as a holiday, weekend boat, and camper trailer.

@@MobileDwellings it was great bro, we were young, both living on sailboats in LA. I was doing PR for it. It was made in Germany, by a company that had inaccessible pipelines in in the jungles. Ford power plant, beautiful black leather interior. I got lots of sponsored items for it. We took it to Catalina island..also, got Baywatch, the world's biggest show at the time to make an entire show around this "mysterious ' vehicle they couldn't catch..and my girlfriend's Dad, 40 years ago, had the little AmphiCar..some are still around..I'm currently converting a 5 window Skoolie into RV/animal rescue..

How about a houseboat big enough and strong enough to carry a tow vehicle (something like that boat with the VW beetle on top)….
I like the idea of adapting a surplus military amphibious vehicle with a school bus topper or a fifth wheel.

back in the late 80s or maybe early 1990s in melbourne florida at a boat/rv show i think it was, there was a hybrid rv/boat that looked a little odd. Imagine a large rv/school bus with a small single deck yacht shoved up it's backside like it got rear-ended. the rv cab part i think had enough cabin area for 4 seats while the 'boat' part that you would back into a boat launch ramp housed the majority of the living space. I wish i had a picture of it or something but i didn't even have a film camera.

In 2020 I was burning with this idea as well, and did some research on the topic.
While the idea is technically feasible, the result would be expensive, not only in terms of building, but in terms of maintenance and general ownership. The mechanical components would be hard to reach, the sealing and corrosion resistance is an engineering challenge. Finally, there are regulations and safety measures, both you and your vessel have to be compliant to be allowed on water.
Ultimately, ask yourself this question, how many times per year do you intend to use it as a boat? It's certainly cool to have a universal vehicle, but it's hard to imagine a use case for it, other than living in it full time and dedicating a very significant portion of your time to it.

My question is, is the amphibious coach live onboard only for between shores or what about close to the ocean?

In the 1980s there was a mix of a boat and van rv known as the boaterhome. Only 21 examples of the boaterhome were created but it consisted of a ford econoline van with a 28ft boat merged on the back of the van body making it look like one unit at first glance but it could be backed up and the boat launched. There are a few videos of them here on youtube, including one showing up in a junkyard.

Sadly none of these commercially built options are sea worthy. Some can do salt water but not big waves. I'm still on the hunt but at the moment it looks like the only way to get into the ocean with an Amphibious RV would be to convert something seaworthy into a home.

What is the complication of an amphibious coach that is compatible with the ocean?
Some have bottoms of a boat as a starting point, so if heavy duty floats each side and frame each side possible, what else for ocean compatible amphibious coach?
Hopefully possible? Hope your search proves successful :-)
