Short Box Series on the Reformer | Online Pilates Classes

  • Short Box Series on the #Reformer is incredibly useful. It has all the spine shapes you use in Pilates in one set of exercises. You get to practice your Round, Tall, Side Bend, Extension, and Twist in the whole series. And, while few people enjoy Tree, it is one of the most revealing exercises there is in your Pilates practice. The important thing to understanding the Short Box Series is to use your legs more than you think. The strap placement is incredibly important. And makes a difference in you being able to get connected to yourself or hang off your hip flexors.

    Hi Lesley, thanks for this video! Do you have any recommendations for not feeling it so much in the hip flexors? Every time I try this series I feel it pretty intensely in the hip flexors, especially when I pull my knees out wider.

      Hey Michaela, great question you may want to see my video where I use a Thera Band around my thighs to get more outer hips. Also, check where the strap is on your feet. If its not at the base of your foot by your ankle it will be hip flexors. And, becareful, knees wider doesn't mean your femurs went wider so then your outer hips wouldn't be working. I do a lot of this work in my OPC online workouts. I totally understand your frustration I was there and it is possible to get out of them. It does take strengthening of your outer hips and what i call your Thass™ from other exercises. I am actually focusing on this strength for 30 days in my upcoming challenge.
