ive seen plenty of other how clips on youtube......yours are more comprehensive and cover the little bits and pieces that others don't. thx buddy keep up the great work
The ARGtek antenna range extender kit has helped me so much with my range on my Phantom 3 Standard. Before I installed my range extender I could only fly to an altitude of 450 to 500 ft. After installing the range extender I got my phantom to a height of 1,236 ft and could have gone farther. I also flew 1,352 ft in distance away from me and could have gone farther. Your video was very helpful overall, especially when I was installing my kit. Thanks a lot.
After following your other tutorial to fit the tablet holder I decided to do this upgrade, followed it step by step and yet again went smoothly many thanks from the UK once again.
I cannot find and 10dbi 5.8ghz Omni antennas here in the UK what do you think the result would be if I replaced the 2 flat panels with 2.4ghz 10dbi ones ??
+Mike Smith go look in my Phantom tips and tricks playlist. I have several videos about exactly what you're talking about. In short, it's my favorite way to do it
JTO2GO I've watched all your videos I cannot recollect you mentioning what ghz antenna you used when you replaced your flat panels but will check again, thanks
man u can do a review. detailed, took ur time to explain and even had numbers to show performance upgrade, great, I'm going to get myself one right now. thanks for taking the time to do this.
Thanks for putting this together. Came in very handy since I purchased that extender and it arrived today. Great tips on how to install it correctly and it works amazingly. I appreciate your video on this. Thanks man!
Man I'm so excited! Just ordered mine today. I actually got 5,300 feet with the stock antenna so if I get over 7,000 I'll be impressed I'll upload the video and let you know! Thanks for the video!
Good job young man.. In depth and you have the right voice for this.. Too many times we have good video with someone's annoying voice..I subbed as well..
I got this antenna kit after watching this vid as shows how easy to fit,I marked my wires as well and i found a little improvement over long range but as i dont fly long distance but wanted little vid drop out which this made a big diffrence to my dji std 3.... thanks for this vid it helped me..
Fitted mine, and I’m useless at this sort of thing, but it was easy enough. Results, well I normally get about 500m max, today I got 1300m then lost contact. Return to home worked a treat though. I used paddles on the sides and stick in the middle. I did find that it’s quite direction, so I’m going to try with all three stick antennas next. Very pleased so far.
Thank you SO much for making this. I just received my Phantom 3 Standard a few days ago and I really like it, but the range absolutely sucks in my area because of the trees and buildings in the New Orleans area. I had been looking at this ARGtek antenna for a day or two, but also stumbled upon that copper antenna just today on Amazon. I figured I might as well go with the copper one since it was so much cheaper than the ARGtek antenna, but I was looking around for a video that compares the stock, copper, and ARGtek options and this was the only one, or at least the first one I found that compared all 3 of them. I decided to go with the ARGtek antenna to see what it can do for me. Thanks for the great video Josh.
IF YOU'RE NOT GETTING THE PERFORMANCE YOU WANT This kit still works great for me, make sure you check your connections on the circuit board, the antenna wires can be hard to get on and sometimes aren't fully connected. You should be able to tug on them firmly without them coming off. Another thing to check is to make sure you're using the two matching flat panels or tall antennas on the outside and not two mis-matched ones. 2.4ghz on outside, and 5.8ghz in the middle. If none of that works it could be location specific, things like heavy wifi traffic or nearby cellphone towers could interfere with your signal. Try a different location.
Sorry to bother you but i have a little question, Which App are you running to fly the standard, Becuase mine certainly doesnt look like that, It almost looks like the dji go 4.0 app but i didnt think that was compatible with the p3s
Good clear instruction. I needed just a little more reach so I'm getting the kit and using 10 DBI. Even with the P3 standard we get great results with the camera clarity and ease of operation. Thanks again
Nice video and information. I was shocked when I saw you fly over my old neighborhood. I lived on Elmhurst drive. Still in the area. Loved the shot of the old Powley homestead.
Hi, I'm looking now to buy Phantom 3 Standard and I'm trying now to catch all possible experiencess from other people. Your video is very interesting and for sure it will be one possibility how to extend the usage of this drone. Thanks a lot and wish you all the best! Jozef
Super late, but very interesting video. Makes me want to get some really strong antennas to test with. Anyone seen Samy Kamkar demonstrate what he calls, Skyjack? Dude uses kali tools(aircrack-ng) a raspberry pie, and an antenna capable of packet injection to fly his drone near yours and then send deauth commands to your wifi network effectively removing your control from the device and then issuing commands to the newly hacked drone to follow the master drone home. Pretty interesting stuff if you ask me. Samy is the guy who broke myspace back in 2005. Thanks again for the content, definitely prefer learning from others rather than my own mistakes!
+Rammy Dread well legally you can only go up 400ft. I can neither confirm nor deny that I have broken that barrier. But I would imagine it would go almost as far vertically as it does horizontally. Until you break through clouds and they start interfering.
Where you at in Illinois, I be in Alton Illinois, Right on the Mississippi about 28 miles away from the St Louis Arch. I Bought the Phantom 4 Standard having a bit of problems after the last Firmware update but i'll get it ironed out. Love to go droning if we are close enough.
I installed the same kit on my P3S a few weeks ago. I did get some improvement in range but not as much as I was hoping for. With the stock antennas my longest flight was 2700 feet, with a wind surfer added I got out to 3200 feet. The ARGTEC mod has given me 4400 feet using all 3 flat panels. But just like you said thy are very sensitive on direction. I sometimes louse signal at under 1500 feet.
+michael landowski the biggest thing I've found that interferes with the these is any large object like trees or buildings. I'm still glad I have it though.
its awesome.. thumbs up for you and i want more videos about p3 standard. cheaper from p4 and the new mavic but the long range from argtek its pretty good.👍👍👍👌👌😃😃😃
+fridmani1 I considered this in the beginning but it doesn't really seem like it matters. I get just as much distance from this location as anywhere else.
I get about 1300ft with my ARGtek before I loose both RC and video signal, connections are right (also hot glue). I'm going to have to buy the DBS kit and see if that's any better.
+Bobster986 nowadays yes probably but they used to be much more expensive than the standard (500 vs 1300). And I never really planned on modding it at all. I thought it would be good enough as it is. But my tinkerer mentality gets the best of me sometimes
I'm awaiting the arrival of my phantom 3 and enjoying your videos. what app are you using on your tablet? there are many options I'm trying to narrow down the ones to try.
Yeah the one with the overlay showing the Alt and speed and distance. I already downloaded dji go but saw others available and couldn't decide if I should add some more to mess with. That one looks link it'll be fine. Thanks. Keep up the vids. I'm learning about my drone before it even gets here from them.
Do you think that taking off up under the power lines and then flying it with the power lines in your direct line could cause some limited distance, as opposed to being in a field away from any interference.
Nice video man!!! I fly fpv racing drones and have a phantom. I notice when I fly in the humidity I get more break up in my fpv goggles then on days with no humidity so I know that it had some kind of affect.
Dude, there's another world to this hobby where you can fly for miles, and miles, and miles. I use a Hitec radio with a UHF system on it. I've gone 7 miles out, but had to come back. However, it's analog video, so the video is not HD. But, if you want distance, that's the way to go.
Good video bro... I just got mine yesterday. Only tested with the long antenna so far but if you're gonna get one get this one with the 4 antenna option. There's a lot on ebay that only have the 3 & don't have the 3rd flat panel. also there's some on ebay that only have the 2 flat ones to use with ur factory antenna. I'll post link of US seller I got it from
I got the rgtek booster for my P3 standard but for some reason it start losing signal after 500 feet's I live in Colorado I don't know if the high altitude here will affect
+Roberto Febles check your connections on the circuit board, the antenna wires can be hard to get on and sometimes aren't fully connected.
So did you just install the new antennas, change the settings and flew it? some say you have to download a file and boost the channels to 32 channels. true?
Hey Dude, a couple of questions: First, my concern with signal has more to do with trees and other obstructions limiting my signal. I don't really need to go so far in distance, but I'd like to strengthen my signal through trees and obstructions so that I can go out and then down in altitude. Will this setup help me with that? Do you suggest this system for me or will it be a waste of money? Second, what do you do for work?
+Jenny Carrasco this setup should help you in your situation too. As far as what I do for work... I’m a marketing rep at a large corporation. That’s all I’m really comfortable disclosing.
That's enough info for me. I bet you're very good at your job. I'd love to hire someone with your ambition and attention to detail. Great job on the videos. Thank You
I just installed this upgrade with your preferred setup and I did not get any increase in range. I was so excited thinking I would get at least 2000 feet. My normal range is about 1000 feet. I live in central Va. in a very rural area. Just thought I would share there is no guarantee that you will get an increase in range .
I have the same issue. I hoped to greatly increase my range and it still lose my signal at about 1000 feet. I think my connections were tight and I hot glued them to keep them tight. I am looking for a solution to my issue. At this point, I just have more hardware to pack into my case with no improvement to my range.
+namdsibor You heard correctly, in my opinion 3 imnie is the most Versatel setup and doesn't give up much pure distance over flat panels. In fact you almost feel like you get more distance because you're not constantly losing signal because you're pointed 10 degrees away from the drone.
Hey followed your video on the install and triple check all the connections and I'm still not getting any better range seems like stock antenna did better than the ARGTEK I had the quad over my head at about 115 ft and it was still saying that is was not connected with the three flat panels and I checked to make sure they were on the right terminals. I do get messages saying Warning strong interference fly with caution that constantly pop up and if you watch my video you could see how many homes are near me and would it possibly be that their is WiFi interference Thanks
I just got my argtek kit. It has 2 panels, with a third at 5.8ghz. It also has 2 sticks marked 2.4, and the third says 5.8g. A video I watched showed use of 2 panels with one stick in the middle (the video did NOT show the 2 extra sticks). How should I mix and match the 3-sticks with the 3 panels?
+Melissa Nicoletti the newer kits come with three tall antennas. The 5.8 goes in the center and the 2.4 go on the outside. The three tall antennas in that arrangement is my favorite setup.
Thank you so much for the reply. Actually, I am Rick Nicoletti, Melissa's Husband. Apparently, I had to use her account to post my question. I assumed the 5.8 went in the middle, but I wasn't sure what the best combo was. I will trust your favorite set-up. I am a (nearly) retired attorney in Denver, having a blast with my new toy. I have to say, your instructionals are incredible. I can't thank you enough for helping this old Luddite navigate this somewhat intimidating techno world. You really do a FANTASTIC job of illustrating, explaining, and communicating. We're retiring to Mexico and I can't wait to explore the Sea of Cortez with my Drone!
Nice video as always.... I'm glad it worked for you. I ordered the same kit. Mine had poor / weak signal.... One bad thing when you have problems, they DO NOT respond to you. I sent mine back and have yet to have anyone answer my messages or refund my money....
WOW, no joke i took the drone out for a test run in an area that i know has zero radio interference and a clear path to fly the drone, its in NY and is called camp Koinonia, anyway i got a whopping 13,697 feet and i still had clear telemetry but the signal on the remote was choppy. Im sure if i tinkered with the antenna i could have gotten more distance, but i was so pleased with it that i didnt even bother to do that. oh btw i also tested in in a congested area, NYC, and only could get a range of 2,174 feet before instantly losing all signal. so i guess it greatly depends on where you fly at. ive tested the stock antenna in both of theses places and my maximum range was only 2,819 feet, soo obviously these antennas work :) there might be a video of the flight coming up on my channel, maybe you could take a look
Really neat video. I'm really tempted to try to install this myself. Doesn't look that difficult. I do have two more questions. First, how are you maintaining line of sight when the drone is 6,000 ft away from you ??? Also, what tablet are you using because it looks like you are using both wifi and cellular. Your gps is working and you are able to maintain a wifi connection with the drone. Nice.! Thanks!
+stevek46 I am using an iPad Pro 9.7 and it does have both wifi and cellular however I don't think GPS has anything to do with that. I think it's it's completely own antenna. Also the drone also has onboard gps.
JTO2GO I have the iPad mini wifi only and I can't get the maps to upload. All it tells me is how far I have gone in that direction. Also you must have some great eyes to be able to see 6,000 feet away from you ! Seeing a drone go that far from me would terrify me!
Huge difference between 1500 and 4500. I feel it would have been more informative to have 1500 as your stock antenna number, as opposed to your "best day" numbers. Either way I enjoyed the vid, thanks for sharing.
I k ow you won't believe me. But, with my stock antenna I got my P3 standard 10,000 feet (distance, not height). It was in an area with a lake in Utah. Maybe it helped that it was scarcely populated.
+FrancoGiorgione well you'd have to have 3 of them but yes the white ones will work, in fact I now have three white ones and that's what I use instead of those black ones.
Have you tried to put a windsurfer on the omni antenna? I wonder if that will help, but will also be a directional too. But I wonder how'd that work as an increase for distance?
+Elijah Scull The two matching seven DBI flat panels go on the outside and the single six DBI goes on the middle. if you mix them up it won't be a catastrophic failure or anything it will still kind of work but you may see less performance
+Aussie Bloke I didn't see a reason to. They aren't hurting anything in there and I wanted them nearby in case I had to revert the process for any reason.
Hey nice video, i use it to install my argtek kit on p3s, but i have a question, when i finish the set up i get a gps error and proceed to calibrate the bird, but this error keep poping out and the flight mode change to ATTI. Any suggestions?
+Alex Mar This kit shouldn’t affect the GPS at all. The GPS antennas are all on the quad itself. Have you calibrated the compass or tried flying in a different location?
thanks for the answer, that was exactly what i thought but i dont lose anything for asking. i try calibrating on my backyard but still error. should i think on changing the gps antenna?
What is the range of the P3 standard without any mods? Thinking of buying one but seems like the range really sucks on some of them. I mean your saying you get 1000 meters with the standard antenae and the DJI website is saying the range is 500 meters. However the DJI video's say 1000 meters? I am very confused about this quads range.
brianminkc I live in lincolnshire in the U.K., it's very flat here & open, I get 6500 - 7500 feet with the out of the box set up, my range is reduced if there are power lines between me and my phantom, I have also noticed reduced range if flying adjacent to power lines.
just make sure your plugging the right antennas into the right ports the center on is 5.8ghz and the two outer ones are 2.4 ghz. on the antenna themselves they mark which are which and this is important
I have the phantom 3 Standard and my remote is different then your. I mount my device off of the handle versus the remote you have mounts the device on the front center of the remote?
+Christopher Fleury Christopher. I retrofitted a an inspire one Henley mount onto my phantom 3 standard controller. I have a video about how to do so here ua-cam.com/video/eSrtuUWAoRk/v-deo.html
@JTO2GO - So this helps with the transmitter in your hand, but how does it help the P3? Since we aren't doing any modifications to the drone itself, how does it send the signal back so far once you've improved the transmitters sending range? I work enterprise wireless systems, and this is a constant struggle to explain to end clients, yes the AP (transmitter) can reach your phone, but your phone can't reach BACK to the AP (transmitter). I wonder how DJI fixed this issue...
ive seen plenty of other how clips on youtube......yours are more comprehensive and cover the little bits and pieces that others don't. thx buddy keep up the great work
+Wülf Dean Thanks!
Thank you for this content. I just bought a Phantom 3 refurbished! I may actually get the argtek range extender because of this video!!!
Same! for both!

+Rube Velazquez Well thank you, glad to be able to help all of you guys.
is this kit 200$? i found it on amazon for 211 cnd $. thats crazy expansive for antenna.
+Rube Velazquez No it should be about $70 USD
Thanks for putting this together. Came in very handy since I purchased that extender and it arrived today. Great tips on how to install it correctly and it works amazingly. I appreciate your video on this. Thanks man!
+Kelly Beem You're welcome!
Just fitted the Argtek kit this afternoon and followed your video and how to do it......great instructions. spot on so thanks!
excellent video, as a newb to the dgi drone world I appreciate your time making this
+Waylon Backer thanks waylon
I just started flying a couple of weeks ago your videos and product reviews have been a big help. Thanks man
Man I'm so excited! Just ordered mine today. I actually got 5,300 feet with the stock antenna so if I get over 7,000 I'll be impressed I'll upload the video and let you know! Thanks for the video!
+TX Bassin Awesome man! Yea let me know!
Wow you got 5300 feet with a standard antenna?
Good job young man.. In depth and you have the right voice for this.. Too many times we have good video with someone's annoying voice..I subbed as well..

Masterful explanation and photography to explain the installation.
+Charles Muchmore Thanks you
Love your videos I have made the Inspire mount upgrade and the ARGtek extender kit, your videos were great help thanks!
+offroaddreams4x4ed Thanks! I'm glad you appreciate it!
That's some crazy distance you get their mate , I think I need to upgrade to the Argtek as well !
very informative. Very professional. presented very clearly as well reminds me of the old radio amateurs of my day
+Mickey G.C. Hat may be the best compliment I've ever gotten! Thanks man!
Just fitted mine, Freaking love it!
IF YOU'RE NOT GETTING THE PERFORMANCE YOU WANT

+Connor Michael Awesome!
very clear and informative video!! :D Thanks, I have a question. is it a must? that I Should relink the RC after the procedure?
id like to know that as well lol

thanks for the demo ,i ordered the ARGtek and will install when it comes,,,,
Great video. You're a very humble person. Thank-you for the video. I'm going to buy through your link but create my own once I review.
+David Alan I appreciate the support and good luck with your channel I wish you nothing but the best.
Hi Josh ,first time I am seeing you ,very knowlegeable my Friend ,great stuff ,keep it up ,nice .
This answered all my questions. Thanks so much for sharing this man
Great video! Do you think going this route is better than getting a Phantom 3 Professional?
+David Battle It depends on your budget really. Obviously the professional is a higher caliper drone all around but also more expensive.
Thanks for the video dude! I just installed this on my PS3 Standard, cant wait to try it out
Just bought this and excited to install it
quick note if the white cable is the longest its a P3 standard kit and if the black cable is longer it's the P3 SE kit.
Great Video, Thinking of buying one for my phantom.
Great video. But with that extender how high can you fly?
+Rammy Dread well legally you can only go up 400ft. I can neither confirm nor deny that I have broken that barrier. But I would imagine it would go almost as far vertically as it does horizontally. Until you break through clouds and they start interfering.
Nice review I'm thinking of purchasing one myself as I do fly in some strong interference areas.
+BBJ gamez its worth it in my opinion
I wonder if you spliced the Argtek fpv and the stock fpv wires together would that improve connection. ☺
+Normie Norm I'm in Peoria, looks like we're about 2.5 hours away unfortunately.
JTO2GO Well not to far though. I have some friends up in Bloomington/Normal area. Well may the Drone be with you
+Normie Norm Haha you too man
I installed the same kit on my P3S a few weeks ago. I did get some improvement in range but not as much as I was hoping for. I wish you would of showed us what adjustments you did during the flight! Great video though! Definitely got a new Subscriber!
+ADAM GROSS Hey thanks man! Yea I'm sorry, it's tough to do that without a cameraman. But I'm always trying to improve the quality of my content.
JTO2GO can you hit us up with a link to the tablet clip?
+ooberwoot Sure, its linked in the description of this video where I show how to install it ua-cam.com/video/eSrtuUWAoRk/v-deo.html
Not being a show off lol but I got 8000ft today with skyreat and 27dbm fcc so would this antenna get a greater distance than that ?
its awesome.. thumbs up for you and i want more videos about p3 standard. cheaper from p4 and the new mavic but the long range from argtek its pretty good.👍👍👍👌👌😃😃😃
Great Job! Thanks for all the tips...
+Timjhd You're Welcome!
Do you think the power lines you're standing under would affect the results?
+Brando PC I've done testing with and without he power lines and I don't perceive them to have much of an effect
+Brando PC I haven't noticed them to have much of an effect, I used to be worried about the same thing.
Do you think those power lines your signal is going through is affecting your distance?
+fridmani1 I considered this in the beginning but it doesn't really seem like it matters. I get just as much distance from this location as anywhere else.
Nice job with the sound, thanks
Is it possible to get a larger antenna on the drone itself? The range would be incredible with that.
What are you doing with the original grey and black wires? Just leaving them lose? Great vid and thanks in advance
I get about 1300ft with my ARGtek before I loose both RC and video signal, connections are right (also hot glue). I'm going to have to buy the DBS kit and see if that's any better.
Very cool, I remember modding my old Phantom Vision, but with all the extra expense, wouldn't just be better to buy a Phantom 3 Advance or Pro?
+Bobster986 nowadays yes probably but they used to be much more expensive than the standard (500 vs 1300). And I never really planned on modding it at all. I thought it would be good enough as it is. But my tinkerer mentality gets the best of me sometimes
JTO2GO Yeah, I hear ya' :-)
the range extender on the 10dbi antenna be interesting to see
Hmmm... I wonder what range I'd get if I widened the parabolic antenna hole wide enough to slide over omni directional antenna. ☺
Great tutorial... very informative.
+Robert Etheridge Thanks man
east Peoria IL? if so you have any good spots around there to get some clips/pics? I just got a p3s and I'm looking for some cool places
Thanks so much! good video answered all my Questions! I have a job coming up that i need this distance!
Just installed Argtek range extender and got 10,500 feet. It's amazing how it works.
+Drake Powell Glad to hear it :)
I'm awaiting the arrival of my phantom 3 and enjoying your videos. what app are you using on your tablet? there are many options I'm trying to narrow down the ones to try.
+Henry Krull Flight app? I use DJI Go

That one looks link it'll be fine. Thanks. Keep up the vids. I'm learning about my drone before it even gets here from them.
+Henry Krull the only other one I've used is the litchi App and only a handful of times. I didn't like it as much.
Cool. Thanks man
Do you think that taking off up under the power lines and then flying it with the power lines in your direct line could cause some limited distance, as opposed to being in a field away from any interference.
+mentuemhet I imagine that's pretty awesome. I was just having some fun pushing the limits of what I have
:)
I noticed that you left the existing video transmission panels in, was this just overlooked or did you do that on purpose?
+ewhisenhunt67 there was no reason to remove them. The new ones go on the outside of the old ones and if I ever want to return it to stock I can.
I'll post link of US seller I got it from
+Aaron Mattheu I got the one that has all 4
I got the rgtek booster for my P3 standard but for some reason it start losing signal after 500 feet's I live in Colorado I don't know if the high altitude here will affect
+Roberto Febles check your connections on the circuit board, the antenna wires can be hard to get on and sometimes aren't fully connected.
Just a tip, for those not living in US it’s worth using some conversion after giving us foot range.
So did you just install the new antennas, change the settings and flew it? some say you have to download a file and boost the channels to 32 channels. true?
+eddie jim I never downloaded any extra file
ok. I'll just let my drone update itself as it declares right now and keep trying. thanks for your videos
+eddie jim You're welcome and I hope it works out
Awesome. Thank for the knowledge and test
Hey Dude, a couple of questions:
First, my concern with signal has more to do with trees and other obstructions limiting my signal.
Thank You
+Jenny Carrasco well thank you for the compliment Jenny I appreciate it. I try to do my best at everything I set out to do.
I just installed this upgrade with your preferred setup and I did not get any increase in range. I was so excited thinking I would get at least 2000 feet. My normal range is about 1000 feet. I live in central Va. in a very rural area. Just thought I would share there is no guarantee that you will get an increase in range .
+Doug Dill Hey Doug, I would double check your connections on the circuit board. That's usually where the problem lies. The connectors can be tricky.
I have the same issue. I hoped to greatly increase my range and it still lose my signal at about 1000 feet. I think my connections were tight and I hot glued them to keep them tight. I am looking for a solution to my issue. At this point, I just have more hardware to pack into my case with no improvement to my range.
Great video! Just bought one
JTO2GO, what is the best setup for the PS3; 2 flat, 3 flat, or 3 omni? Did I hear correctly in another video, you use three omni now?
+Anthony Rivera hmm, I would try a different location maybe.
JTO2GO I'll let you know if it works out thanks
can I use 2.4 ghz on all three
I just got my argtek kit.
+Melissa Nicoletti That sounds awesome Rick! I hope you guys enjoy it down there. And thank you for the kind words regarding the instructional videos.
Nice video as always.... I'm glad it worked for you. I ordered the same kit. Mine had poor / weak signal.... One bad thing when you have problems, they DO NOT respond to you. I sent mine back and have yet to have anyone answer my messages or refund my money....
+L Brooks ouch, well the company has actually commented on this video, maybe they'll help you out now?
I got mine off ebay may not be from the same people that messaged you. But it would be nice to hear from someone. Thanks again for your time and info
Hi, sorry to hear that , can you contact us at sales@argtek.com?
Sent you a email
+L Brooks did you send it to my email or in a UA-cam message?
+Fenton ess awesome man! That tops my best distance for sure. But yes I now live in philly and don't get great distance even with the antennas.
yeah, here in NYC it doesn't make any difference compared to the stock antenna, But if i go to the beach or park, then the antennas really shine :)
Good to hear. I'm flying mine in a neighborhood with a lot of wifi and cell phone and can't get over 2000. Guess I'll head out into the country.
do you have to reconect the red wire or can you only remove the grey white and black wires and replace them with the argtek wires
Kool, good information, excellent video
do you have to remove the red wires or can you just remove the grey wires and replace the with the argtek grey wires
How far can you go out with the factory ant, on the phantom e standard?
+p pollaccia I've had it out as far as a mile on my best day. But usually not more than about 1,500ft.
Huge difference between 1500 and 4500. I feel it would have been more informative to have 1500 as your stock antenna number, as opposed to your "best day" numbers. Either way I enjoyed the vid, thanks for sharing.
How about in city? Alot tall building blocking which 1 will be better? What if 3 tall antenna?
Hi, I have a phantom 3 Standard and I was thinking of getting the new antenna... within about 1000-2000ft how directional is the tall antenna?
+Matthew Trent not very. It seems to have a wide range
JTO2GO thanks a lot, I'm going to get it than, happy flying
+Matthew Trent Awesome Matt! Good luck!
I k ow you won't believe me. But, with my stock antenna I got my P3 standard 10,000 feet (distance, not height). It was in an area with a lake in Utah. Maybe it helped that it was scarcely populated.
I wonder how things would work if you made the skyreat hole bigger and slid it over that tall antenna. Hmmm ☺
Very informative - thank you :)
What about having 1 of the antennas on each end? Would kinda be like the newer phantom remote
Check out my ARGtek Upgrade video where I do exactly what you're talking about here ua-cam.com/video/fPChQk3p7Ks/v-deo.html
JTO2GO what about just 2 of the white ones though? Not the crazy long ones lol
+FrancoGiorgione well you'd have to have 3 of them but yes the white ones will work, in fact I now have three white ones and that's what I use instead of those black ones.
JTO2GO cool.... thanks for the info in your videos and I might try the little skyreat first before I jump into taking remote apart
That's what I did too, I don't blame you.
good work! Thanks for the Video... got mine today.
Have you tried to put a windsurfer on the omni antenna? I wonder if that will help, but will also be a directional too. But I wonder how'd that work as an increase for distance?
on the larger antenna not the stock one
+Roger Marentes I haven't tried that. I'm not sure it would do much as its so much smaller
does it matter what flat panels go where? noticed different model numbers on them
+Elijah Scull The two matching seven DBI flat panels go on the outside and the single six DBI goes on the middle. if you mix them up it won't be a catastrophic failure or anything it will still kind of work but you may see less performance
thank you!!
You're very welcome
Any reason you didn't take out the green antenna panels inside the remote after they are disconnected?
+Aussie Bloke I didn't see a reason to. They aren't hurting anything in there and I wanted them nearby in case I had to revert the process for any reason.
Thanks much just purchased it.
+brianminkc I believe the official rating is 500 meters. Some people get more it all depends on location.
brianminkc I live in lincolnshire in the U.K., it's very flat here & open, I get 6500 - 7500 feet with the out of the box set up, my range is reduced if there are power lines between me and my phantom, I have also noticed reduced range if flying adjacent to power lines.
Great video! Great info! Great class!
By changing the antennas will that give you a different WiFi connection
Do the required software updates effect range? I have read several opinions that indicate DJI software updates limit distance
awesome review
+Lawrence Co thank you
just make sure your plugging the right antennas into the right ports the center on is 5.8ghz and the two outer ones are 2.4 ghz. on the antenna themselves they mark which are which and this is important
