    "Gren-itch" not "Green Witch." Also, the gerund in the title of the band is elided. "Lovin'," not "Loving." Hard to take it seriously with such fundamental errors. And making assessments (like returning to a previous sound being "unavailable") is a weakness in a documentary clip.
    As for the reunions, doing them without Sebastian is the same as not being the Lovin' Spoonful, because Sebastian WAS the band.

    Summer in the city is still an amazing song. Just so different. The lyrics are stellar. I played it then and I play it now. I have a bunch of their alums still.

      John used his dad's Italian name. John also played live with the Doors in Detroit. He did a lot of sessions on harmonica like Tim Hardin and Fred Neil.

    I got to meet John Sebastian a few years back performing in my hometown. Still a great performer to this day, but he seemed socially awkward in person. But, he agreed to take a selfie with me so I'm grateful for that :)

    It should be noted that years after Zal Yanovsky got blacklisted for "ratting out" other people. It came out many other artist also had made deals with cops to give up suppliers and other artists who were doing drugs.

    I use to live in Greenwitch Village in the 1980 s. But we called it Greenwich Village. As for “Creaky Alley” is that Creeque Alley?

    There were three great American groups in 1966 who provided some competition to the British invasion who had been dominating the US pop charts since 1964. The Mamas and Papas, The Young Rascals, and the Lovin Spoonful.

    Rich Douglas said it right. Sebastian WAS the band. The others were no more than studio musicians. Sebastian wrote the songs and had the magic voice.

    I have watched 3 of these "What Happened To..." videos now and I just can't listen to this guy slur his words and fumble through the text anymore. I would rather listen to a text-to-speech bot than listen to this mumble-mouthed guy who clearly hasn't even read through the material first or even done multiple takes in order to choose the best one. I am gone.

    very interesting. but Gren-itch Village is pronounced how I just typed it!! From the net: "Greenwich's silent 'w' results from the borough's historical roots. The name Greenwich is derived from the Old English' green, meaning green, and 'wic', meaning village or trading place.     You're young, so you're forgiven :-)...but Greenwich is pronounced GRIN-itch. Creeque is pronounced "creek", and it's the Lovin' Spoonful, not the LovING Spooful. Otherwise, nice summary.
    BTW, I've known John since about 1984 and was just with him last night (8/31/24).

      I agree. I suspect he is the historian and writer of these videos, and I cannot fault him on that. They reflect a lot of research and effort, and he is to be commended. However, he needs to find somebody who can read the scripts credibly. He is so incredibly inept as a reader, stumbling constantly and making horrible mistakes in pronunciation, such as "Greenwich" as in Greenwich Village.
