Mira Tactical Level 4 Body Armor Review & Destructive Test

- Опубліковано 11 лип 2024
- Mira Tactical Level 4 plates are rated to stop armor piercing 30-06 rounds and I put one of Mira Safety's plates through it's paces. This review consist of a full destructive test leveraging 30-06 AP, a standard 30-06 hunting round, two 556 rounds, and three 7.62 x 39 rounds from my Zastava AK. I was thoroughly impressed by the Mira Plate's performance and it blew my mind when I caused some fireworks by shooting through a loaded AR mag on my plate carrier.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you starting out with 30-06. Too many people start with .22, 9mm, .45, .223 and so on. Props for not wasting our time and immediately testing it's lvl 4 claim
Thanks for taking time to give feedback Don. Take care and welcome to the channel.
I am always about real world tests. Shooting the plates with mags and holders is very helpful understanding what can happen. You are the first I've seen do this.
Thanks Warren. I was curious about what would happen and was surprised by the results.
Agreed.. I haven't seen anyone shoot a plate carrier loaded
also not bull$hitting around with pistols. shoot it with 556 first so armor is not degraded. if it wont stop 556 it wont stop 9mm. love this test absolutely great.
This is by far the best test done on these plates on UA-cam. I've been looking at these plates for a couple weeks and doing my research. Fantastic video!
Thanks Bjones. I created it after doing research looking for plates and never quite finding the info I was looking for in the same place. I’m still using the Mira plates, no complaints or problems this far. Take care and thanks for stopping by.
Subscribed because you started with 30-06. Good stuff!
I’m sure it wouldn’t survive a hit with the 30-06 Blk tip last after all of the other rounds, that would be crazy. Either way I was pretty pleased with these plates out performing their rating. Gave me confidence in their ability to perform.
i bought a set of these plates about a year ago. I had seen some crazy destructive tests with multiple shots from different people. @ 250-300 per plate, and how good they stand up, and the weight... can not beat it
Great video got me sold.
This is the video I was looking for. I'll be upgrading my Safelife defense level 4 ICW plates.
Glad you liked the review Randolph. Welcome to channel.
Good test shooting the loaded mags. I had the same question as well.
Thanks K.
Great review, I noticed the tag on the back states that it’s only rated for 30-06 AP which made me wonder if it somehow doesn’t stop other rifle calibers, mind at ease now!
Same here, the testing definitely helped me build confidence in the plates. They really performed well.
Great video and not drawn out un necessarily.
Thanks and welcome to the channel!
🔥🙌
I like Mira. Im probably gonna go with the shotstop level 4 though due to it weighing only 4.5 lbs. Still need to compare price points.....
Price points, but more importantly look at reviews for robustness. Looking at other reviews, I’ve seen not all “level 4” plates are created equal. Thanks for stopping by R R and happy hunting man.
I’m surprised the defacement doesn’t look too bad.
👍
Thanks
Ive got this same exact setup. MIRA plates in a JPC 1.0. I find that I've got a little bit of slack in the plate pouches though, i'd say an inch or so of empty space right at the very top where the plate is just hanging down. If I try to snug it up with the velcro, I'd run out of loop to hook onto. Do you encounter this at all? IDK if its typical or not since this is the first carrier I've owned.
Yea, it’s got a little play in it. Different plates are slightly different dimensionally so having play with different plates and carriers is common. You can always use something light weight like a piece of fabric to fill the void if you want a tight fit. Thanks for stopping by Tall Grass.
Cut a slice of pool noodle to place in the bottom of the carrier to push the plate up.
I’m looking for plates but I’m trying to get some decent ones. Level 4 at least. And was seeing ceramic ones aren’t great. Shotstop have good ones but pretty pricy.
What would you recommend
I like the Mira plates for ceramic, the only other plates I’ve used are steel ones from Spartan armory, but I’ve never tested them.
Would you recommend these I was looking at these or the legacy level iv plates but it seems everyone is liking the Mira plates
These are great, I’m using them on two of my setups
@@shootersresourcechannel642 I ended up going with the guardian gear multi curve plates they arnt much more i paid 594 for the pair and they only weigh 5.5lbs each
Little worried about the spalling. Looks like quite q bit of shrapnel leaving the plate after impact. Doesn't look very absorbed
If you watch the first shot with the 30-06 black tip, there is really not much spalling, there is some that travels directly outwards. It appears to be a mix of ceramic plate and sprawling which has to go some where. I did not find any vertical or lateral tears In the plate carrier representing spalling traveling towards the body. I think that changes after the plate starts to break up after repeated fire. I am hitting it with a lot of rifle rounds, well beyond it’s rating
Miratac looks to be the company that looked at all the overpriced competition and said, "You know what, we can sell stuff that's just as good for 70% of the price, and make up for the loss in profits with more sale volume and maybe some support from our non-body armor products"
Thank you for this video. I shared it with a few friends. They were so excited.!! This channel needs P R O M O S M!
Thanks Casey. Keep promoting it man, hopefully SRC will continue grow exponentially with time . I was thinking this video in particular would have been a bigger hit.
The AR 500 is going to spall into the neck and jaw, groin and thigh.
