This is the video that sold me on RMA when I was searching for plates. It seem like their level IV is designed to be level IV+ or level V when NIJ updates their standard.
WTW done a video on armor rated to stop 762x39, he hit it with two rounds of 5.56 and it stopped both rounds but when he hit it with two rounds of green tip they went right on through. Interesting videos
People keep repeating that speed defeats armor but that's only seemingly true. The plate cares about kinetic energy, and that being ½mv² certainly makes it seem like speed is the deciding factor (mass increases energy linearly, speed exponentially) but a pin flying at any real-life speed will not defeat this armor. And it's also easier to increase the bullet's speed than it's mass.
Depending on the armor composition other factors come into play. With Steel armor, speed typically wins out very easily. With all UHMWPE you can defeat it with bullet construction in the absence of speed. With ceramic you need bullet construction in addition to sufficient speed to defeat the ceramic layer and then to make it past the PE layer.
edwin and matt they both did stop a .50bmg ball round with a special armor so that is a new level but it's not in the market so no mew level for it as none production piece lol
Instead of "defeating" body armor, how about a video of which rounds cause the most back face deformation? It's this deformation that can cause the wearer of the armor to become incapacitated from broken ribs or ruptured organs even though the plate remains largely intact. Armor choice should take this into account. Yeah, the projectile may not enter your body but does that matter if your sternum is crushed, your breath is taken and your liver is ruptured from the impact?
Since apparently the Russian GOST is going up to maximum against even 12.7x108mm so how about some armor test against .50 BMG? That'd be interesting to see
@@jeremy2255 All lead core, there's a good chance those will get stopped. Now most "Ball" 50 BMG that's M33 actually has a mild steel core, and it takes about 200 yards to stop one of those and the backface is basically a black hole....

Body armour. Made to protect the centre of mass. Chest cavity. Point of aim hollow of the throat, head shots and the pelvic area. Hollow of the throat. Good chance at the spine and major blood vessels. Double/triple tapping naturally walks up with recoil =headshot Head shot. lethality almost Guaranteed, tricky shot though. Helmets can take substantial rounds. Pelvic area. Main area of support for the entire body. Shot there, you will go down. Major blood vessels. Extremely painful and lethal. Slower but still lethal. WTW done a video on armor rated to stop 762x39, he hit it with two rounds of 5.56 and it stopped both rounds but when he hit it with two rounds of green tip they went right on through. Interesting videos
Green tip has a steel core which makes it semi armor piercing.
Still wouldn’t want to get shot even with armor nothing stops kinetic energy
Also a plate may stop a .50 but it will also stop you
you see demo ranches new video? A 10mm cracked ribs when shot at a lvl 4
Thank God someone else is mentioning kinetic energy. They all believe a bullet needs to penetrate to cause body damage....👍
I clocked the Remington Accelerators out of a 22" bolt gun at 388X fps
That muzzle flash looked like cgi. I love it
America should adopt the VPAM armor system, I want a VPAM-14 plate, rated to stop 14.5x114mm BZ API with less than 22mm of backface deformation.
I kid you not, before you shot with the accelerator round. I thought to myself “ they should be behind a wall with only a hole for the barrel “
That is some high quality armor!
Great sound from that full auto.
We'll skip over the price per plate....
A scale behind or something to measure the impact pressure would be fun.
edwin and matt they both did stop a .50bmg ball round with a special armor so that is a new level but it's not in the market so no mew level for it as none production piece lol
Shocked i actually got a notification this time
The energy in this video has me laughing 😂
I would love to see more Armor vs Hunting cartriges videos. Like Level IV vs Elephant rifles.
No .50? I feel let down. But also impressed it survived what it did.
Buffman RANGE tested this against a .50 i believe......the .50 won as we would imagine 🤣
Watch Buffman Range
He does tests of multiple level 4 plates including this one. And he goes over the velocities and BFD. A really good channel.
Since apparently the Russian GOST is going up to maximum against even 12.7x108mm so how about some armor test against .50 BMG? That'd be interesting to see
50.BMG FMJ all lead core will run right slap through any lvl 4 plate!
@@jeremy2255 All lead core, there's a good chance those will get stopped. Now most "Ball" 50 BMG that's M33 actually has a mild steel core, and it takes about 200 yards to stop one of those and the backface is basically a black hole....
@@BuffRANGE WOW! That is amazing!
Well we will just have to aim for the head or the legs!
@@jeremy2255 50 bmg pushes the backing material through the target making penetration meaningless against a human body.
Fresh Level 4 has
some excellent stopping
action.
While wearing #4
no-one wants to
take on never ending
Rifle Rounds.
All in all you can
have some confidence
wearing #4
Great informational.
Thank you. ✝️⚔️

Here is something you might like to try if you can find it. I believe there's a 9-millimeter round from Geco that has a steel penetrator. I believe that this was used by Israel back in the day?
Need to shoot it with 50 Beowulf and 8mm mauser next time.
The .338 Shot would be 100% Fatal with that plate on. The amount of energy transfer would liquify your organs.
This is just bonkers. There's only a few gun guys I'd trust that you're telling the truth, you're one of them. I'm buying a set.
Take a 30-06 black tip and reload it in a 300 RUM. I suspect it would make it through.
Very common to have it reloaded in 300 win mag which should go clean through.
@@TheNkp08 This plate would hold likely to about 3000-3050 fps. At 300 WM velocities (3223) M2AP did penetrate :D
@@BuffRANGE that is why I suggested the 300 RUM. I get velocities depending on bullet weight between 3250 and 3400 fps. Using 200 gr. Down to 150 gr. heavy jacket. I found out thin jackets come apart/frag and extreme velocities.
the fireballs from that CMMG ........🤯
I'm sold on these plates, I will be buying them
Great video fellas.
The muzzle flash on that Mutant is unreal. Holy cyka.
Get some of that WW2 German 8mm SMK tungsten core ammo. Rob Ski punched right through AR550 steel plates with that nasty stuff, from 100 yards no less.
Hey I know I’m late but maybe if the accelerator bullet was a 62 grain m855 green tip or even that m855a1 bullet I think it’d actually penetrate it’d be cool to see ya make some hand loads with a little extra powder too for a little extra kick
I’ll go check out the original video. I love video. I need some armor in my life.
Try and find a pressure plate that it used for like punch test. Just use on standard ammo. That would tell you how much force is being put on body.
I think you brought up a great point around 5:45 about NIJ standards. Seems to me the tests/levels are quite dated!
We need a testing regarding on .277 Fury since it’s gonna be the US Army’s newest service ammunition
Body armour. Made to protect the centre of mass. Chest cavity. Point of aim hollow of the throat, head shots and the pelvic area.
Hollow of the throat. Good chance at the spine and major blood vessels. Double/triple tapping naturally walks up with recoil =headshot
Head shot. lethality almost Guaranteed, tricky shot though. Helmets can take substantial rounds.
Pelvic area. Main area of support for the entire body. Shot there, you will go down. Major blood vessels. Extremely painful and lethal. Slower but still lethal.
Point is folks. Once you know your opponent is armoured up, adjust aim accordingly. Getting shot with body armour is still painful and debilitating, even lethal. Kinetic energy ripping through your organs can kill. Just don’t waste ammo on the armour.
Fantastic video.
