I also never thought of attaching the vellum like that. I think that I will print the background colours on card tho. Mind you...could print on the backing paper in the embossing folder. The white ink is also a good idea. Love it!
Wonderful video. LOVE how the white ink enhances the embossed design. Looks fabulous over your ink blended backgrounds. And thanks for all the tips on using Vellum!!
Thanks so much, I'm so glad you liked it. Tiffany Solario has a video where she recommended Oplymio Thick Vellum available on Amazon. I purchased it and it's very good, you might want to check that out.
Great idea to put the ink on the raised side of the embossing folders. I also liked that you folded the ends of the vellum to put behind the cardstock to hide the glue. They are just beautiful, and I can't wait to try this. Thanks for a great video!
Thank you for sharing , I always wanted to emboss vellum and create cards but I never advanced with it. Your rainbow colors behind the vellum is so beautiful. Tfs Happy Holidays ❤
Susan, Thank you so much for sharing this technique. I love love love the look of a embossed vellum overlay and I struggled with how to adhere it to a panel. This is perfection. And your card is gorgeous.
I love vellum, so I'm happy to learn another way to use it. Your card on IG really caught my eye, so I'm going to see what I can do. Years ago I learned to use a piece of thin vellum on top of the paper inside the folder when you run it through the machine, if you're having problems with cracking. I had one folder that always cracked my cardstock & this trick did work. The folders weren't 3D back then, but might work with them. I never tried it for embossing vellum, but think I will see what happens. You can use the same vellum "shim" over & over.
I just bought this embossing folder and was looking for ideas on using it. I LOVE your card and using vellum. I make many masculine cards, so I thing this would be great. I like the idea of a blue and green background, mimicking a scene behind these leaves.
Just one thing…could you please share your finished cards a little longer on the camera at the end? They are so pretty but we barely get to see them. Please know I am not complaining - thank you for your videos Susan. So glad I happened upon you.
Thanks so much Joyce! I sometimes am trying to keep within a certain time limit but if not I will keep it up longer. You could pause the video at that spot. Also, I post many more cards on Instagram at Susanbcards. The link would be instagram.com/Susanbcards/ I also have a blog at Susanbcards.blogspot.com every time I make a video, I make a blog post. I appreciate your kind comments.
0:14 I was listening in the background and was £65.00!! For ONE darice embossing folder?? That's ridiculous!! Until i realised you meant the vellum....😶

Thanks for the nice comment, happy holidays to you!
Lovely card. I love the bright colors that get muted by the vellum.
Thank you Cathy, I appreciate your comment!
Love the idea of folding back the top/bottom edges!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi lovely card
You can also prevent vellum cracking by inserting a piece of card behind the vellum before you emboss it.
Thanks I’ll try that.
I often do this with a piece of printer paper...it cushions the impression enough but (I've found) does not smoosh the image at all.
After admiring your card on instagram, I’m so pleased to see you have a UA-cam , I will definitely give this a go, thank you for your lovely ideas. 😀
Thank you Louise, I really appreciate the kind comment!
Such a lovely look, thank you, Susan

Thank you I just finished a card with vellum and was wondering how to make the image show up more ....👍
I’m so glad! Thanks for watching❤
Nice technique. How do you get the white pigment ink to dry?
Thanks! Since it’s pushed into the back of the vellum and mounted on the panel there’s no worry about it smearing. It appeared dry.
Thanks
So pretty
Thank you!
I love it
Thanks so much Penny!
Impressive… May I please have the source of your embossing folder?
Oh, found it! Thank you, Susan, what a pretty card 🍃
@@nancywilkes298 Thanks Nancy, so glad you liked it, hope you get it, Simon Says Stamp has some very nice folders.

Lol, in US it’s pounds-gsm, dollars-pounds.
❤❤❤
Thank you!
Sprits it a little bit won’t crack
Thanks! I’ve been trying to use up this lightweight vellum, it warps and curls when misted.
