I absolutely love the colour choices you did of these panels and then the black ink on top and the embossing powder...I can't wait to try this technique. thank you for sharing.
I just watched your video a couple of days ago and tried it out! WOW! This is fantastic. I have already made so many from papers and backgrounds I would never have used. I LOVE talented people! Thank you so much for sharing this technique!
I have so many old brusho card fronts & I never knew what to do with them. Once I made them they were just there. That's it. Now I've got new fronts to make my cards. Thanks for given us this opportunity to make great cards.
I’m so glad! A lot of people use the Joseph’s Coat technique too, either putting the black ink on the top of the embossing folder so the ink gets pushed into the recessed areas when it’s run through the machine or use a black alcohol ink marker to color in the recessed areas. Sandi MacIver has a great video showing that.
Oh my goodness. Will definitely have to give this a try on many backgrounds I have. I just love how all of yours turned out, especially with the archival ink.
Hi Susan, I just found your channel- this is the 2nd video and you've got a new subscriber. I love your tutorials so far! You're to the point, easy to follow, your techniques are fantastic and finished card is beautiful. I actually like that darker area on the example you showed in the beginning because it gives more variety in the overall design and color scheme and gives the eye a relaxing point to focus. So glad I found your channel today, I look forward to catching up on your videos. Thanks!
Your backgrounds were Amazing! I just recently came upon this technique and have been having fun trying all of the different ways I have seen people do it. Now I’ll be pulling out my previously made backgrounds to try your way! Thank you for sharing!
These backgrounds are so lovely and need minimal or no Greetings! They make me happy when I look at them! The recipient would know why they are receiving a card. Maybe a Birthday, but a "HELLO" or even a Bereavement card, Thinking About You could be conveyed with a card made from these stunning creations. I have subscribed! Best wishes, from downUNDER 🦘🦘
I have a bin full of backgrounds my grandgirlies made. They got into my mica powders & had a blast smooshing & putting the powders on the paper & spritzing. They’ll love seeing how their backgrounds look using this technique. Awesome idea! Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏼🙏🏻💖
Gotta get on this technique as it is stunning. It is comparable to the technique of coloring in the background with a black sharpie pen. I like this one better as the filling in the background not only takes forever but uses a bit of ink and is a ton less time consuming. You have me sold on this beautiful card!
Thanks so much! I do love that technique that Sandi MacIver showed, the embossed side is so pretty and she put gold embossing powder on it…now I have to figure out where to add gold to these. Lol
It"s a fun technique that I played with a while back...did prefer not heat embossing though. Using a EF with leaves in light colors is especially nice!
I have been following you on Instagram. I just found that you have a UA-cam channel because you mentioned it on Instagram. I love this technique. I've never seen it done before. 😊♥️👏
Great technique! I actually like some of the designs that had less black ink on them and may not have added so much darkening along the way. I love how you finished the cards. Thanks
Try applying the black ink to the flat inside of your embossing folder and run your coloured card through right away. It will evenly apply to the background.
Beautiful idea! Thanks for sharing will definitely have to try it. Thanks for sharing. Liked and new Subscriber from Ontario Canada. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
@@susanbcards I just tried it out because like you, I have a huge box full of backgrounds, mostly done with brushos which of course is basically the same as your color burst powders. It came out absolutely beautiful! I am so happy that I stumbled across this video! 🤗
Just beautiful!!! I have done this technique before but not with the embossing powder. It does look like a tile! Also, I tried to find the embossing folder you used at the 5:00 time stamp but it wasn't linked below. Who makes it and what is it's name? I'm off to watch more of your vids. Thanks!
Oh, yes I attach them to cards. Each of these are 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” which is a standard US size card. You can buy precut blank cards and envelopes at a craft store or on line and glue these panels to the blank cards. Or you can buy heavy weight cardstock and cut and fold your own blank cards.
Thank you! If you mean the ink I rubbed onto the embossing folder, yes, Ranger Archival ink in black. I have all the products listed under the video in the description or on my blog at Susanbcards.blogspot.com I hope that helps!
I wasn't convinced from your pre-made sample but then when you added the black to the first example - WOW!
Thanks! It’s fun to do.
I absolutely love the colour choices you did of these panels and then the black ink on top and the embossing powder...I can't wait to try this technique. thank you for sharing.
I’m so glad you are trying this, it’s so fun and still amazes me when I do it. Thanks for your comment!
I love it! It reminds me of a maximalist card without all the maximalist effort. TYSM for sharing!
Thank you so very much!
These are so beautiful Susan! They remind me of rich tapestries. Thank you for sharing how you accomplish this.
Thank you for such a nice comment!

What a great way for us all of those backgrounds we all have hidden in drawers. Thanks for the inspiration ❤
Thanks Donna! Much appreciated!
These bright colored panels turned out beautiful!
Thanks so much Rebecca!
Absolutely stunning cards!
Thank you Daphne!
Reminds me of an old tapestry, worn with age but incredibly beautiful.
Thank you, what a nice compliment!
What a fab idea, love how they turned out
Thanks Elaine!
Wow, beautiful effect once you add the black! Love your cards!
Thank you! It’s so easy to do and a great way to use up some of those less than beautiful background experiments!
Wow! Beautiful results!
Thank you Michelle!
Susan, absolutely AMAZING results! So dramatic! I will definitely try this technique. Thanks for sharing it with us! 🐾🌵😊

Thank you Connie! I think you’ll be so happy with the results.
Love it!! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching and commenting Linda!
Definitely doing this. I liked the background before you embossed it. Just beautiful. ❤🇦🇺
I agree with you. The first card reminded me of a short vase of flowers with a few out of the vase. It was lovely card before and after.
Thank you Jennifer! Sometimes I go through that box and wonder why I didn’t like some of those panels.

This is so cool. Thank you so much for showing us this technique.
Thank you for watching it Lori!
Awesome!

Love the ideas, as we all probably have backgrounds we don’t like, great technique, TYFS
Thanks Robin, it made me feel better about that box of paper, inking is so fun.

The first paper you took out had a really cute duck before you turned the paper upside down.
Lol, I finally saw a photo of the before and it really does look like a duck.
It"s a fun technique that I played with a while back...did prefer not heat embossing though. Using a EF with leaves in light colors is especially nice!

What a very cool technique. I’ve had a hard time finding interesting different methods - Thank you 🙏
Thanks so much Rita! I’m always trying different ways to use my supplies.

Thanks Michele, I’m so glad.
I have always loved this technique- the cards are beautiful
Thank you!
What beautiful cards! I've used it on some old gel prints with stunning results. Thanks so much for sharing this technique!
Thanks! I love making gel prints but don’t really use them, that’s a great idea. I may have to make some with cardstock rather than copy paper!
Wow, those are incredible! I’ve not seen this technique before and now I’m going to try it!
Altenew has lots of great techniques, I just used my already inked backgrounds:
Love your technique. I have way too many “failed” backgrounds I will try this on!
I’m so glad! It’s not my technique, I saw it on a shorts. I just used my old backgrounds and then heat embossed them. Enjoy!
I love your cards. I have just discovered you and I am amazed. I can’t wait to use your creative techniques.
Thanks so much Beverly. I’m so glad and appreciate your compliment!
Great idea to use up those backgrounds! TFS

That how I typically apply my ink … but each ways gives a different look😊
