- Mirna Elisabeth Marroquin is the chef behind Mirna’s Pupuseria in Flatbush, Brooklyn in New York City. After becoming lost in the city subway, she met Lorenzo Garcia by chance and the two fell madly in love. Together, they run their pupuseria as a family. Their super cheesy pupusas are made with imported El Salvadorian cheeses like quesillo for her secret cheese blend to bring the taste of her homeland to NYC.

Give this man the respect he deserves. He did everything he can to help her and her kids. He saw her as the gem she was and was patient. Years passed but now Together they operate a business and the kids aren’t hungry. I’m glad they came here and staked their claim. He is a good man. He should be the standard by which men measure themselves. He is kind, giving, and providing without being machista. He is proud that she is the captain of their venture. He is behind her and supporting her in her vision for her career and her family. They embody what a relationship should be regardless of age, nationality, or ethnicity.

I’m so happy and proud of Mirna. She represents the best of our Salvadoran culture: creative, hard-working, resilient and with a heart bigger than ourselves. And her pupusas look delicious. I’m glad that her friends, neighbors and customers have the opportunity to eat one of our most representative dishes.

Their relationship is so amazing on every level, truly heart warming.
It's always amazing to see how similar all Latin American cultures are. Being Brazilian, we often feel completely disconnected from other Latin American countries, since we don't speak the same language, the country itself is huge and far away from the others, and have generally a very different economic and political situation. Yet, we all formed from the same peoples: Sefardi Jews, Moor Arabs, Indigenous peoples, West Africans. So it makes sense that out ways of life have more in common than not. But it's still surprising to see a woman speaking Spanish and think "she's just like my aunts”.
Hello Gabriel, being Mexican, I might be the exception to the rule, I have been in long term relationship with a girl from Brasil, whose last name is actually Martins like yours. At the time I spoke little to no Portuguese and she did not speak Spanish or English, but the similarities between Spanish and Portuguese helped.
Over the years I learned Portuguese well enough to only communicate in Portuguese, a she learned a bit more spanish. Trips to Brasil (Bahia) and Mexico definately enriched our relationship and helped connect our cultures, aside from language we have very much in common, our two countries.

This video has zero dislikes and I can see why. As a salvadorian I am so proud of this woman. Pupusas are great but I just love her determination and perseverance. What a joy to find a supportive partner like him as well. I wish their business continues to thrive.
Tears in my eyes hoping that I could ever love someone as much but also to have someone love me as much as he does her. His love is very active, to do things for her, support her and he seems so happy to do it as well, as if giving of himself to her enriches him and fills him as much as he's giving, he gets just as much in return just on the act of the giving, as if she doesn't have to reciprocate AT ALL and he'd be perfectly happy and content. I want to feel that for someone more than I want them to feel that for me.

Update: I went a few days after watching this. Okay the pupusas are booommbb🫓 I got the pork bean and cheese one. Amazing taste and such a great price.
Tell your friends! Not enough people know about Salvadorean culture, we even have a joke saying amongst ourselves in spanish that says that he who doesnt eat his pupusas with his hands is not Salvadorean, seeing as this is our typical street food where you can usually get three revueltas for only $2 USD

@@Alicia-sk1fp so I live right in that area and certain parts like prospect park are pretty safe but other areas I wouldn’t go outside super late at night but I say you should come. Brooklyn/NYC is a great place

I fell in love with her kind and gentle husband. He’s a standup guy
As a son of an immigrant from Guatemala, I so much appreciate what she has done for her children. It's hard as hell coming to this country and making a life for yourself and your family as an immigrant. Like Lorenzo, my dad works as a laborer, as a handyman, to do his best so that I can have a bright future. I'm currently finishing up my Bachelor's and am currently applying to Ph.D. programs for grad school. I couldn't have done it without his support and sacrifices. Sure, we aren't financially stable, but he has always been there for me doing the bes the can with the limited resources that we have. I know he is already proud of me, but I hope I really make him proud by getting a Ph.D. It's not only for me, it's in honor of him too.
Papusa's are the best, used to live close to a Salvadoran restaurant. They were so delicious!!🤤🤤

Pupusa's are one of the best dishes ever imo, The sauce, the technical challenge of patting them, the spectrum of the sour cabbage and the rich and savory pupusa and a dip in the sauce? One of the best bites of food you'll ever have. I was lucky enough to work with several cooks from El Salvador and they would often make pupusas for specials or for the kitchen to snack on (s/o Etelinda) and it blew me away every time.

I'm from Canada, I was also born in Chalchuapa and I sell pupusas sometimes for the holidays and I make good business! I love that people want to try our food and learn about our culture.

Pupupsas with the sauce and the slightly fermented cabbage are absolutely addictive! Bless this woman and her husband for working hard to provide such a delicious product to her customers will definitely check her out next time Im in Brooklyn. I live in the DMV and there are some fire pupusa spots here that I frequent several times a week a lot of them are hole in the wall spots that don't look half as nice as this, but they are all family run with some amazing food.
