Upgrade our pressnt smerch 300 mm rockets with both precison guided rockets and fire control systems.
Nagpur based Solar group, which is manufacturing Pinaka rockets, was reportedly working on 2 guided rockets Maheshwarastra 1 with 150km range and Maheshwarastra 2 with 290 km range. They are supposed to be like HIMARS. Any update on them?

We need a Pinaka Mk2ER of around 90 kms followed by a Guided Pinaka ER with a range of 120-130 kms. Target deadline for completion & induction should be by around 2026-27.
This should be followed by Pinaka Mk3 3 & Pinaka Mk3 ER with a range of 150 & 180+ kms respectively & target for completion & induction should be by around 2030 & 2033.
This would enable our armed forces to carry out Saturation attacks. It will be very useful in Mountain Warfare.
we already made pinaka mark 2 of 90km . pinaka mark 3 would be 120 km . now solar industries is making 150 km range rockets and 250 km range too
300 mm will take it straight up to 250 kms Commonality with Pranash launchers will make it desi HIMARS
Here is the main reason behind lack of commitment/engagement of private sector - they are not sure if BJP will hold power in 2024. If Congress comes to power, they would shut down most indigenous research and development initiated under BJP rule and switch to imports. Congress has always been heavily vested in defense imports, because that's where the graft money is.

At this range, guidance of rocket will also become crucial. If we can make cheap drone which is equipped with a laser designator, it can easily guide rockets with laser seekers

We do need long range multi barrel cheaper rocket systems which are expendable in nature so that we can overwhelm the adversary. Rocket systems of this kind complement the artillery. And the longer range and higher damage of such systems can actually help in real combat to a great extent. Artillery support is very important at the ground level. We should take care to keep the costs of rockets and the system to be within acceptable limits so that we can induct huge numbers of such rockets. Just a personal view waiting for more inputs from you in the future. Great informative videos. Keep up the good work.

I feel that apart from Indian Navy, none of the tri services are serious. Reason being they keep the requirements or specs which are not feasible or the technology is not available.
Navy supported indegenous project from 1980s and we have result infront of us we are developing and manufacturing our own destroyers , frigate and aircraft carrier
But air force and army still have import lobby airforce and army will demand moon trial and mars trial from indegenous weapons but foreign import is ok without even basic test that the main reason airforce and army seems in this vulnerable place right now

Alpha Defence, don't you think that by sharing these minute details like, range, propellant, trail schedules, acquisitions etc., of various systems of defence armour inventory, you are not putting the enemy wise, to our defence capabilities and preparedness?.
These are estimates, estimates are only made public after considering all the confidential information is being protected. Besides don't take enemies too lightly they already know way more things than Alpha defense can leak. Just imagine if they can steal the actual chemical composition of the fuel of pinaka, brahmos and Astra missiles what more they can do. Although we can take better measures to protect our intellectual property but that is on related agencies not on Alpha denfese or any other person. You don't believe that the actual range of pinaka is exactly 90km right. It can be as low as 50km or as high as 150km. 90km is available to the public for technical reasons.

Renowned defence publications, thinktanks & research institutions regularly publish papers on these aspects. You'll be surprised about the details available online. In India, we tend to think that these details are not available since major portion of our media is a 'Commando comic'. In addition, we in India are excited by hyphenated story telling rather than detailed facts & analysis.
