IMO the biggest plus of Shaheed type drones is their low costs. You can make the war costly for your adversary when the air defense missiles are costlier than the targets they are hitting (of course may not apply to China, but Pakistan - Yes).
Secondly Russia is using Shaheed drones in tandem with their cruise missiles. That way they act as a decoy. This reduces the chances of cruise missiles being intercepted. Taking this one step further, such low cost kamikaze drones could be used to saturate air defenses of a high value target.
And probably China is going to do the same with us. So at the same time we also need to find low cost counter to these suicide drones attacks.
There's one more advantage......all the technologies used in such drones is already made in india...it's basically a flying moped. India can mass-manufacture such drones whenever it wants.
@@yami6499 Agree. These procedures, red tapes and testings take too much of a time. We can work on better drones for years. Nothing wrong in that. But for emergency purposes, we should induct low end, low cost drones in numbers. Such drones are cheap, unlike missiles. Shaheen is at most a half baked product. But it has caused significant damage in Ukraine. A mediocre product in your hand is anytime better than a perfect one on the drawing board.
@allcaps3584 yh but that's just one type of drone they have. It's not even their primary. And don't forget iran started using drones in the iran Iraq war so they have a little more experience with it.. I don't think India is specifically trying to aim high for high tech. I think you have too many people making money from it and are not putting it all for the research. But that's just my iranian opinion 😅

approving files'...kickbacks are rampant..sadly indian military also suffers from this.
Some areas of indian weapons development like missile program that directly report to centre are top-notch however drones arent among those.
That said...indian pvt companies are faring good in the sector after personal push from Modi...so 'if needed'.....india can mass produce mid-quality drones in huge numbers.....probably ina quantity next only to china.

Can Army's upcoming battlefield management system interact with similar systems of IAF and Navy? So that our forces can coordinate with each other and share data to plan more efficient attacks.
For example IAF getting a target info from a army platform and taking it out from long range or Navy getting target info from IAF platform and taking it out from sea?
I have been asking this same question. Army to Air force does work with Vayu Link. No answer for Navy mentioned at all, so I assume it doesn't.

Can't HUL make Low cost kamikaze drone using the MIG 21 engines or make full aircraft as kamikaze drone instead of retiring them. Or at least can also be used as no return fighterjet decoy.

We can't afford lengthy procurement and reaction times, mrfa, p 75I, Atags,Dhanush, FICV, and many more are moving at snails pace...last thing we want is letting our enemy get stronger coz of our process, we should atleast match China's pace else the gap will widen with each passing year.
We should give quotation to our local companies with T1 and L1 conditions.
Let companies decide how they will make prototype by indigenous technology, DRDO technology or foreign JV.
End of day we should get in-house production.

Shahed has fibreglass body & stealthy shape Vajra drone from Garuda comes closest There's another similar shaped simpler config one from Newspace (with piston engine probably giving longer range) Wankel rotary engine is a decent balance of speed & range (with far less noise than piston) We even made that decade back for the Nishant & another of the smaller target drones
there is honeycomb metal structure in the wings which scatter radar wave energy away also delta wing
protects GPS and seeker antenna from ground generated noise. the drone weight is around 200kg
for a reason.

The biggest advantage of Shaheed-136 drone is that even after having a considerable range (more than that of Brahmos), it's very cheap to make a saturation attack.
Anyways, have you made that video on saturation attack yet ?
CIWS likes to disagree with you. A slow moving target is an easy meal for CIWS.
@@shenanigans4177 But most of the SAMs are not equipped with CIWS . So Shaheed is still a big threat to most of the SAMs and other targets .
I think Iranians are well aware of the weak point of their shared drones in Ukraine and I think they are working on it for better performance. Maybe better motor or speed or payload.

We don't have time for the babuization of weapons to take place. Govt knows the proven actors in private industry and sarkari establishment and need not prove to the world that India's bureaucracy is the worst in the world. A lack of joint command is also hampering development as a weapon such as drone is to be used by all branches--air force, army, navy. Who will propose the requirement? With a joint command, it would be easy. We also need a defence minister who is knowledgeable, proactive and forces the services to think fast and outside the box. The need for a drone was known 20 years ago but we are nowhere while our immediate adversaries are fully ready.

The main purpose of this cheap drone was to depleting Ukrainian air defence missiles and it achieved its goal fully. Now Ukraine air defence force has limited air defence missiles in stock. It's simple 😜 to understand
