That's how I got past the scheming guards at Riften's gate. I was in Ivarstead's inn, and wanted to get those stupid pots out of the way as they keep falling out of the fire. Instead of lifting it, I accidentally took it, which people overreacted to and called me a thief. Next thing I knew I was in Riften Jail.
I think that Whiterun was in lockdown because they probably thought someone was responsible for the dragon so they didn’t let anyone inside the city.But I mean if the person “summons” the dragon outside of the city they are still kind of dead

The Grelod thing happened to me during my first ever playthrough. I was in Riften to find an "appraiser" for my Stones of Barenziah, walked into Honourhall on complete accident, saw the way Grelod treated the children in her care, walked up to her, and beheaded her with a greatsword. It was extremely satisfying and I laughed my ass off at the "I knew the Dark Brotherhood was good, but not THAT good" line.
After some experience with Camilla, I can tell you his priorities are in the right order. Camilla is easy on the eyes but her mouth ruins that. I once married her and regretted it. She never shuts up about coming back with the Claw. Never.
Did you know that you can start a THIEVES GUILD AND RIFTEN GUARD WAR! Once you join the thieves guild you have to attack a guard inside Riften, then you have to run around inside Riften and get as many guards to chase you as possible. After that, you must run to the ragged flagon through the graveyard entrance. From there you can merely observe the ensuing battle, or choose to help your guild friends. It is really fun, and it unlocks some unique dialog from the survivors (they get get really pissed at you.)
For the Louis Letrush one, I did that one a few days ago and randomly found Maven and told her everything. She also deals with Sibbi and removes him from his rather nice and fancy jail cell, into the much rather bleak and empty one next to it.

With Louis Letrush. If he survives the mercenary attack (which can only happen if you intervene in time or use console commands to kill the mercenary) then he will then attack you saying, "It's your fault!"
Hey nate, I don't think you've covered this one yet. When you go to kill the previous champion of boethia to retrieve the ebony mail, when you use emperor's call or pacify spell, the previous champion will have a unique dialogue. Try it out
I feel so bad for people on their first playthroughs of Skyrim that kill the Dark Brotherhood. It's easily the best storyline in the vanilla game. I body slam Grelod in every one of my playthroughs lol

Ever think they left that contract open in order to find new recruits? I mean, Astrid bleeds with respect for the dovahkin in the shack over the matter with hardly a bit of accusation. Most other contracts are kept on the down-low to where only Dark Brotherhood contacts know of them, but everyone in Skyrim knows of Aventus and what he was doing. Rather clever way to test somebody who fancied themselves worthy of the Dark Brotherhood. Plus, it helps that Grelod is really, really worth offing in the case you want to kill her in order to be able to destroy the Brotherhood.
Why else do you think Dovahkiin got named Listener by the Night Mother? Cicero is already Keeper, and it's not like she's gonna trust any of those doubting fuckers in Falkreath! They abandoned the Old Ways; suuuure, it helped them to survive...but they stagnated....
Well they technically “aren’t” dark brotherhood. They go by their own “laws” instead of the actual dark brotherhood code. As you can tell when the dark mother comes to the sanctuary, Astrid has no love for it as it puts a damper on her control of her group. That being said, with them not technically dark brotherhood, they have no idea when someone does the dark secrament. The rely on word of mouth so that’s why it takes months for them to find out about a contract. So yes they are quite terrible at their profession lol.
Hey Nate, love the Skyrim content! I found a tiny detail that you may be interested in. In the dawnguard dlc, should you align with the dawnguard, during the quest "Kindered Judgement" where you and Serana confront Lord Harkon, he will accuse you of turning his daughter against him. You'll be given a dialogue menu. If you exit the menu without responding, you'll unlock a unique line from Harkon that says "Little time for talk? Good. Let's end this!" And begin attacking you.
7:45 you may have covered it but you don’t even have to kill Grelod by your own hand (for those really good players). You can do this by getting Edda the female beggar in Riften to attack Grelod. Apparently there is some lore to this where Edda has ill intentions against Grelod but I have yet to find it in game. The only time I’ve managed to get this unique event is when I cast a fear spell on Grelod, causing her to run outside in which Edda ran up and killed her. This can either happen in the backyard of the orphanage or out in the marketplace.
Funny thing. I thought i had done a perfect Skyrim run and done everything, but when i started a new game, i found an inn i had never seen or heard before. Soon i was doing a small sidequest to get an ghost his friends sword. I was so hyped to find something completyle new to after 3 years.
Fun fact: if you use an alternate start mod to begin as a Stormcloak or Imperial soldier you also start with those dialogue options, which is fantastic for roleplayers like myself who make dedicated character types that have specific motives and behaviors. It's become my standard answer for any soldier I decide to make, regardless of whichever side they're on, and followed by the jarl requesting you investigate the dragons first before he listens to you, which also makes sense if you're playing as a soldier, and not a prisoner who escaped Helgen.
Like it could also be some dialogue regarding the Dark Brotherhood "We have a new contract for you, murder this guy to death." You murder the guy to death and come back Your dialogue option: "I murdered them to death."
It be funny if it were a clever Easter egg Like: Sees a dead body in the middle of the road and two NPCs around the body. NPC 1: it appears that he has been murdered to death NPC 2 : it’s a shame he was a good person Something like that

Interestingly, the Thalmor think that outlawing Talos worship will actually hasten the apocalypse and they very much want that because they believe they will rise up and become Aedra or something.
I used to be an adventurer, but then i took an arrow to the knee. Then i got back up and killed an evil dragon. Then i fell off a cliff. Then ate some netch jelly and lived. THEN i typed "` tcl" and went through a wall. Then the game crashed because i had a crazy graphics mod on.
For #3 the same thing happens with the Movarth quest and Alva. If you sneak and steal the journal while she's asleep, she'll run to Movarth's Lair and be an extra villain in the lair.
I can't remember if this is in a previous video, but after the mythic dawn museum is up in dawnstar there is a piece of paper(when walking into the museum it's in a display case in the left corner) if you unlock the display case and use the fire spell on it then the paper turns into a bucket. It's great.

Did you know that there is yet ANOTHER way of entering Whiterun. Assuming you have a decent pickpocketing skill; you can just steal the gate key from one of the guards and enter in that way
He won't since he probably dosen't care about it. In his own comment that he posted under his nv vid said it would be out in a month. He lied and he is a fucking cheater since in ever vid of his character is always at level 1 and over encumbered.
When Astrid kidnaps you after killing Grelod, you have the option to kill any of the three people there. You get different dialogue depending on which one, which two, or even all three that you kill. You can also attack Astrid instead, which unlocks the quest "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" and you can either leave the people in the shack or free them once Astrid is dead.
Nate, 2 questions. If Letrush dies at the hands of Mavens henchmen, can you acquire Frost? And 2, if you let Bujold get thrown out in the wild... Where does the go?
I thought you could keep Frost, free and clear, if you told Maven of Letrush's plot and then when you deliver the horse to him tell him you'll go to Maven if you can't keep Frost. He gives in easy and without a fight.
I know this is an old comment, but if you use the Alternate Start mod you can start as a bandit. There are no quests or anything like an actual faction, but depending which bandit camp you start at there might be a forge and stuff. I spent the beginning of my current playthrough roleplaying as a bandit, robbing travelers and crypts then going back to the cave to practice smithing. Add survival mode and the Campfire mod, and you can have a pretty rich rp experience living in the wilds and robbing caravans. Eventually I decided to head to Riften to join the Thieves' Guild and my playthrough finally started when I went to Whiterun for the Honningbrew mission, and saw Alduin attacking Helgen on the way.
I usually go Nord and mess with mods to make her as close to a petite dhampir as possible...then send her through the Dark Brotherhood to meet her best friend Cicero. My dad would usually go Argonian, though, and would use his signature name that he's used for a lot of games (as a reference to his favorite half-dragon in a D&D campaign he ran over a decade ago)...
Nate: did you know you can kill almost everyone that is required for the Dark brotherhood. There are a few in whom you can't, but getting more respect and gold is worth it. Also, with the Whiterun missions. If you commit a crime in the hold, wait two days, the guards will then come at you and see if you want to pay the fine or go to jail. If you do either if these, you'll be able to go in and leave Whiterun whenever you want.
Umm Nate? I think your repeating some old facts. I believe you have already discussed in a previous video that you can kill Grelod the Kind early and unlock special dialogue from Aventus

He treats all video categories for themselves If he says something in his 10 tiny details he doesn't disqualify that detail from his 5 things you didn't know you could do
If memory serves you can also steal frost after warning maven and pass the skill check to keep the horse. And I believe this results in you getting a unique letter from maven stating you may keep frost. This may also require killing letrush and talking to maven again. I don't recall it's been a few years.
When you first approach whiterun, and the companions are fighting the giant outside of town, you can pickpocket the whiterun gate key off of them and walk inside without the guards permission.
Maybe it's been noticed a hundred times, but I just realized today the carvings on the walls match the type of animal insignias used to open the dragon claw doors in the drauger tombs. They'll be moth, owl, and wolf deities on walls where a the puzzle uses moth, wolf and owl pictures etc.
They critically missed a comedic oprotunnity with the Arentino kid. Your character reallly needs the option to say "Gerlod the Kind, is now Gerlod the Living..."

Well if u kill her before the kids are just grateful while if u murder her to death when he asks you the kids will also reveal some dialogue saying that the kid actually pulled it off and how happy they were for him
Skyrim really is a masterpiece. Many games just aren't made with this level of love and passion anymore. They're made with the purpose of making money before making art.
That's exactly right, phant0mwolf421 !!! We'll know fairly quickly what path Bethesda takes in ES 6. With expectations so high and so much possible and requested, it's hard to believe it will come out great. Keep your ES Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim discs/playthroughs. I don't know if it will ever get better than these...BUT, I do hope so. What a great job Bethesda has done with their ES games!!! Flat out amazing. Keep it up, Bethesda!!!
When I left Thrisk after killing Bujold and then returned after few days. I was attacked by everyone. I don't know if my disposition was so low with NPCs or what but when I was trying to tolk to anyone sudden everyone turned hostile.

so i didn't even know i could choose between humanity and goblins - i just heard the lead goblin saying that the nords are evil at the end of the questline so I was like "okay lets go kill some humans yes"
not sure if you covered this but when you first start the dark brotherhood questline and Astred brings you to the abandoned house to kill a target you can instead choose to kill her which will start an alternative quest line where you report it to a guard and then you raid the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary for some quick gold
This was a pretty good episode honestly, it’s been run dry lately and I’ve found this episode really interesting, but I’m pretty sure the Gregor the kind one has been featured before, but good nonetheless
I love these videos so much when I’m bored of playing games I grab food and watch them I also like to to listen to them when I do my homework pretty nice and soothing
I like Skyrim. But the buildup to the main quest goals was much more dramatic than beginning to achieve them. The MQ fell flat. In Morrowind I was less than motivated to see the MQ through which was fine and all, and in Oblivion there really seemed like an urgency existed and it got bigger and bigger and more impressive. Skyrim sort of plateaued early.
Love the videos Nate! Inspired me to do another Skyrim playthrough! Also had a suggestion for something you “probably didn’t know you could do”. During the “Blood on the Ice” quest in Windhelm, if you find the Strange Amulet in the house I forget the name of and sell it to Calixto, you can pickpocket him and sell it back to him. Might be more of an exploit than a fun fact, but I thought it was prettt funny! Also not sure if you’ve done a video with this in it or not - I admittedly haven’t watched each one! Shame on me haha. One Question: at the ending of the Thirstmead Hall quest wherein the Dova gives up Bjold's denial by the ancestor, and she's ejected from the tribe by her husband, what is she likely to do to the Dragonborn ? I mean, say he follows her out of the Hall and tries to get her to be his/her follower, does she just say "no," or attack him outright ? I ask because a love the RPG elements of the Elder Scrolls series and always seek ways to keep sub-quests of this sort going for as long as the script will allow. Bjold becomes more interesting in my eyes as a women who's been cut off from her familial roots (it gives her a patina of greater pathos, if you see what I mean), so naturally, I'd like to keep her character going, say the Dovakin's follower. I won't doubt you see this as weird, but still it intrigues me to seek for such alliances, fragile as they may be. Anyway, just wondering; I'll eventually re-play that section of the game at some point, so I'll find out for myself then.
Hey, Nate! I have a tiny detail for you, if you’re interested. I don’t think you have covered it before. After finishing The Chief of Thirsk Hall quest, during which you help a group of rieklings that live in Thirsk Mead Hall and become their chief, as a reward you will get some of those rieklings as followers. They will appear near you during every combat on Solstheim and help you fight. They appear only on Solstheim and I have never seen them on the mainland. But !!! If you happen to go to Blackreach and get in fight with someone your riekling friends will appear there. In Blackreach!!! How?! Is Blackreach somehow connected to Solstheim? Can you even get from Solstheim to Blackreach?! I don’t know, maybe it was just a glitch. But it was quite fascinating to see little blue munchkins there + very fun to watch them fight with falmer.
I found 3 interesting things in my most recent playthrough that idk if Nate’s covered before. 1. There’s a tunnel that goes under the jail in Whiterun accessible from a grate in the first cell on the right when entering the jail. You can find a corpse with a lockpick on it next to a grate with a novice lock. The tunnel leads to the guardhouse. 2. If you pick the flowers around the dead tree in Whiterun, they don’t grow back until you complete the quest to revive the tree. 3. In the first Potema quest that takes place in Wolfskull Cave, as you enter the second level of the dungeon where they’re summoning Potema, you can actually stop the cutscene and “complete” the quest by killing one of the summoners from a distance (I used a bow and arrow). Not only that, the summoners are hostile with the other necromancers/draugrs in the area and if they start wandering around trying to find the source of the attack, they can actually have a necromancer battle where people are being raised to fight on both sides of the conflict. I wish I could just message these to Nate directly because I don’t want to make my own video taking viewership away from his channel, but I thought these were interesting and wanted to share if he hasn’t covered them already. (I haven’t watched ALL of his videos... yet 🙂)
Discovered the dark brotherhood maybe 7 years ago, my brothers buddy found his way to the orphanage and killed grelad because we all hated her, none of us knew that it was a quest but when we found out it was awesome

I killed Camilla Valerius right in front of her brother, and funny enough we are still friends because I gave him the Golden Claw. Damn priorities.

Use the Unrelenting Force shout on butterflies to rip them apart and collect their wings far easier. c:
Frost, fire, and ice, too. Any of the offensive shouts work, since butterflies are so thin-skinned.
Use unrelenting force on salmon. It gets the roe and the meat.

You can pickpocket Aela for the key to Whiterun and if you go fast enough you can skip the guard and get into the city.

Most other contracts are kept on the down-low to where only Dark Brotherhood contacts know of them, but everyone in Skyrim knows of Aventus and what he was doing.
Rather clever way to test somebody who fancied themselves worthy of the Dark Brotherhood.
Plus, it helps that Grelod is really, really worth offing in the case you want to kill her in order to be able to destroy the Brotherhood.

Well they technically “aren’t” dark brotherhood. They go by their own “laws” instead of the actual dark brotherhood code. As you can tell when the dark mother comes to the sanctuary, Astrid has no love for it as it puts a damper on her control of her group. That being said, with them not technically dark brotherhood, they have no idea when someone does the dark secrament. The rely on word of mouth so that’s why it takes months for them to find out about a contract. So yes they are quite terrible at their profession lol.

Hey Nate, love the Skyrim content! I found a tiny detail that you may be interested in. In the dawnguard dlc, should you align with the dawnguard, during the quest "Kindered Judgement" where you and Serana confront Lord Harkon, he will accuse you of turning his daughter against him. You'll be given a dialogue menu. If you exit the menu without responding, you'll unlock a unique line from Harkon that says "Little time for talk? Good. Let's end this!" And begin attacking you.
7:45 you may have covered it but you don’t even have to kill Grelod by your own hand (for those really good players). You can do this by getting Edda the female beggar in Riften to attack Grelod. Apparently there is some lore to this where Edda has ill intentions against Grelod but I have yet to find it in game. The only time I’ve managed to get this unique event is when I cast a fear spell on Grelod, causing her to run outside in which Edda ran up and killed her. This can either happen in the backyard of the orphanage or out in the marketplace.

Fun fact: if you use an alternate start mod to begin as a Stormcloak or Imperial soldier you also start with those dialogue options, which is fantastic for roleplayers like myself who make dedicated character types that have specific motives and behaviors. It's become my standard answer for any soldier I decide to make, regardless of whichever side they're on, and followed by the jarl requesting you investigate the dragons first before he listens to you, which also makes sense if you're playing as a soldier, and not a prisoner who escaped Helgen.

I can't remember if this is in a previous video, but after the mythic dawn museum is up in dawnstar there is a piece of paper(when walking into the museum it's in a display case in the left corner) if you unlock the display case and use the fire spell on it then the paper turns into a bucket. It's great.

When Astrid kidnaps you after killing Grelod, you have the option to kill any of the three people there. You get different dialogue depending on which one, which two, or even all three that you kill. You can also attack Astrid instead, which unlocks the quest "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" and you can either leave the people in the shack or free them once Astrid is dead.

Nate, 2 questions. If Letrush dies at the hands of Mavens henchmen, can you acquire Frost? And 2, if you let Bujold get thrown out in the wild... Where does the go?
Also, is it possible to calm bujold down with a spell or flee the tomb without killing her and would that change how the story unfolds?
I thought you could keep Frost, free and clear, if you told Maven of Letrush's plot and then when you deliver the horse to him tell him you'll go to Maven if you can't keep Frost. He gives in easy and without a fight.

I'm pretty sure I have Frost in my stable still but however I did it was like 7 years ago so I have no idea how I pulled that off.

I know this is an old comment, but if you use the Alternate Start mod you can start as a bandit. There are no quests or anything like an actual faction, but depending which bandit camp you start at there might be a forge and stuff. I spent the beginning of my current playthrough roleplaying as a bandit, robbing travelers and crypts then going back to the cave to practice smithing. Add survival mode and the Campfire mod, and you can have a pretty rich rp experience living in the wilds and robbing caravans.
Eventually I decided to head to Riften to join the Thieves' Guild and my playthrough finally started when I went to Whiterun for the Honningbrew mission, and saw Alduin attacking Helgen on the way.

I usually go Nord and mess with mods to make her as close to a petite dhampir as possible...then send her through the Dark Brotherhood to meet her best friend Cicero.
My dad would usually go Argonian, though, and would use his signature name that he's used for a lot of games (as a reference to his favorite half-dragon in a D&D campaign he ran over a decade ago)...
6 years after playing this game I realised I always spelled Dragonsreach wrong, thinking all the time it was "Dragonsearch" haha

Nate: did you know you can kill almost everyone that is required for the Dark brotherhood. There are a few in whom you can't, but getting more respect and gold is worth it.
Also, with the Whiterun missions. If you commit a crime in the hold, wait two days, the guards will then come at you and see if you want to pay the fine or go to jail. If you do either if these, you'll be able to go in and leave Whiterun whenever you want.
Last time I was this early, Skyrim was monumental.
I did the first one, because I did the Alternate Start mod, and chose the Stormcloak side. It was so much fun, and different.

If memory serves you can also steal frost after warning maven and pass the skill check to keep the horse. And I believe this results in you getting a unique letter from maven stating you may keep frost. This may also require killing letrush and talking to maven again. I don't recall it's been a few years.

When you first approach whiterun, and the companions are fighting the giant outside of town, you can pickpocket the whiterun gate key off of them and walk inside without the guards permission.

Maybe it's been noticed a hundred times, but I just realized today the carvings on the walls match the type of animal insignias used to open the dragon claw doors in the drauger tombs. They'll be moth, owl, and wolf deities on walls where a the puzzle uses moth, wolf and owl pictures etc.
They critically missed a comedic oprotunnity with the Arentino kid. Your character reallly needs the option to say "Gerlod the Kind, is now Gerlod the Living..."

Skyrim really is a masterpiece. Many games just aren't made with this level of love and passion anymore. They're made with the purpose of making money before making art.

With expectations so high and so much possible and requested, it's hard to believe it will come out great. Keep your ES Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim discs/playthroughs. I don't know if it will ever get better than these...BUT, I do hope so. What a great job Bethesda has done with their ES games!!! Flat out amazing. Keep it up, Bethesda!!!
When I left Thrisk after killing Bujold and then returned after few days. I was attacked by everyone. I don't know if my disposition was so low with NPCs or what but when I was trying to tolk to anyone sudden everyone turned hostile.
Probably killed one of their chickens.
I love trying to find the occasional erroneous word in Nate’s dialogue. It is what keeps me coming back to the videos I have seen oh so many times.

so i didn't even know i could choose between humanity and goblins - i just heard the lead goblin saying that the nords are evil at the end of the questline so I was like "okay lets go kill some humans yes"
not sure if you covered this but when you first start the dark brotherhood questline and Astred brings you to the abandoned house to kill a target you can instead choose to kill her which will start an alternative quest line where you report it to a guard and then you raid the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary for some quick gold
This was a pretty good episode honestly, it’s been run dry lately and I’ve found this episode really interesting, but I’m pretty sure the Gregor the kind one has been featured before, but good nonetheless

I like Skyrim. But the buildup to the main quest goals was much more dramatic than beginning to achieve them. The MQ fell flat. In Morrowind I was less than motivated to see the MQ through which was fine and all, and in Oblivion there really seemed like an urgency existed and it got bigger and bigger and more impressive. Skyrim sort of plateaued early.

During the “Blood on the Ice” quest in Windhelm, if you find the Strange Amulet in the house I forget the name of and sell it to Calixto, you can pickpocket him and sell it back to him. Might be more of an exploit than a fun fact, but I thought it was prettt funny! Also not sure if you’ve done a video with this in it or not - I admittedly haven’t watched each one! Shame on me haha.

One Question: at the ending of the Thirstmead Hall quest wherein the Dova gives up Bjold's denial by the ancestor, and she's ejected from the tribe by her husband, what is she likely to do to the Dragonborn ? I mean, say he follows her out of the Hall and tries to get her to be his/her follower, does she just say "no," or attack him outright ? I ask because a love the RPG elements of the Elder Scrolls series and always seek ways to keep sub-quests of this sort going for as long as the script will allow. Bjold becomes more interesting in my eyes as a women who's been cut off from her familial roots (it gives her a patina of greater pathos, if you see what I mean), so naturally, I'd like to keep her character going, say the Dovakin's follower. I won't doubt you see this as weird, but still it intrigues me to seek for such alliances, fragile as they may be. Anyway, just wondering; I'll eventually re-play that section of the game at some point, so I'll find out for myself then.

I have a tiny detail for you, if you’re interested. I don’t think you have covered it before.
After finishing The Chief of Thirsk Hall quest, during which you help a group of rieklings that live in Thirsk Mead Hall and become their chief, as a reward you will get some of those rieklings as followers. They will appear near you during every combat on Solstheim and help you fight. They appear only on Solstheim and I have never seen them on the mainland. But !!!
If you happen to go to Blackreach and get in fight with someone your riekling friends will appear there. In Blackreach!!! How?! Is Blackreach somehow connected to Solstheim? Can you even get from Solstheim to Blackreach?!
I don’t know, maybe it was just a glitch. But it was quite fascinating to see little blue munchkins there + very fun to watch them fight with falmer.

I found 3 interesting things in my most recent playthrough that idk if Nate’s covered before.
1. There’s a tunnel that goes under the jail in Whiterun accessible from a grate in the first cell on the right when entering the jail. You can find a corpse with a lockpick on it next to a grate with a novice lock. The tunnel leads to the guardhouse.
2. If you pick the flowers around the dead tree in Whiterun, they don’t grow back until you complete the quest to revive the tree.
3. In the first Potema quest that takes place in Wolfskull Cave, as you enter the second level of the dungeon where they’re summoning Potema, you can actually stop the cutscene and “complete” the quest by killing one of the summoners from a distance (I used a bow and arrow). Not only that, the summoners are hostile with the other necromancers/draugrs in the area and if they start wandering around trying to find the source of the attack, they can actually have a necromancer battle where people are being raised to fight on both sides of the conflict.
I wish I could just message these to Nate directly because I don’t want to make my own video taking viewership away from his channel, but I thought these were interesting and wanted to share if he hasn’t covered them already. (I haven’t watched ALL of his videos... yet 🙂)

Discovered the dark brotherhood maybe 7 years ago, my brothers buddy found his way to the orphanage and killed grelad because we all hated her, none of us knew that it was a quest but when we found out it was awesome
