    Foil is a good idea. I use a 13 gallon plastic kitchen garbage bag and drape it over like you did. If you turn your gallon jugs flat ,the oil comes out nice and doesn't do that burping that makes a mess sometimes.

    I put my front tires up on ramps, my ramps are made of wood and are from the 1940's. Handed down from my grandfather, to my dad and now to me. By raising the front end up more oil will drain out, the bump in the oil pan wont fully drain unless you raise up the front end of the truck. I use 15w40 synthetic diesel oil and i change my oil at 3000 to 3500 miles. I change the red transmission filter every other oil change and also the fuel filter every other oil change. WIX oil filter, Alison red transmission filter and CAT fuel filter. My truck is a 2013 chevy silverado 2500HD 6.6L LML Duramax currently at 153,700 miles.

      We're taking our trip in June also. I have a CB Radio in my truck. It's a Uniden PRESIDENT P300 SSB radio. I have a Wilson 5000 antenna thru the roof dead center. It's a great set up and will talk 70 to 90 miles on side band, and when skip conditions are right it will talk coast to coast including Canada eh. Damn I got the exact color and trim lol, this video will be useful as I just bought it about a month ago and I'll be doing the an oil change soon, have you had any problems with the glow plugs? In case you say yes, do you have any advise or something I should keep in mind? Mine just gave me a P0678 wich means glow plug on cilinder #8, apears to be quite of an easy job, apparently, just as spark plugs on gas engines it's better to replace all of them or at least that's what I have readed online a couple minutes ago

      I haven't had issues with them, it agreed, good to replace them all although a bit pricey. Since it's used you'll know if they've been replaced or not prior and reduce future issues since you'll know they're new

    Great video and exactly what I needed to do my first oil change on a new-to-me 2016 w/LML engine. I would like to know about the large, white filter on the right bank that has a wire connector on the bottom. I'm assuming that is the coolant filter? Also, what are your recommendations for changing out the front shocks - mine appear to be original and are getting some rust on the lower mounting area. Mileage is 85000. Thank you!

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  Рік тому

      Are you referring to the filter in the Front-right passenger wheel well?
      As for the shocks how is it riding? Stiff or wobbly? I don't have much experience with rust since I'm in the Southwest, but always want to heed with caution if it's getting quite nasty

    • @airdave1953
      @airdave1953 Рік тому +1

      Yes, on the filter location. It's riding a little rough when going over RR tracks it feels stiff. I'm not real sure which replacement shocks would be best for this truck. I don't do any off-roading, mostly highway.@@Striker50_

    Is that oil a synthetic or premium conventional?

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  2 роки тому

      Hey Trystan thanks for bringing this up!
      Unfortunately it is not a FULL synthetic oil, but it IS better than the CJ-4 oil that was originally meant for this engine. This newer blend should have more additives and protection than the original oil grade from when this engine first came out.
      Be sure to check out the Costco link I have in the description and read the comments on the review section to get a better sense if this is right for you!
      I personally would love if Costco goes all in and offers a FULL synthetic even if it costs more because I know that they'd be most likely to offer something of quality.
      Thanks for watching btw!
