- INCLUDES 2 FULL TUNING LESSONS!!! Howdy Y'all. Here is the UA-cam version of my latest step by step drum tuning lesson "TUNING UP YOUR DRUMS AFTER A GIG" now streaming at
www.kennysharretts.com/video-...
as streaming the video helps to support my channel, and gives you a wicked set of drum tuning skills to boot.
This YT version includes 2 full lesson segments of the the 9 lesson segments that are in the full lesson video. There are also tons of tips, and discussions on some of the common issues I have found on drummers kits, and my own the day AFTER a gig. If you keep your kit tuned up after every gig, it generally stays in tune. So I show you some of the common ways to instantly bring your kit back in tune after a gig. This vid covers a 13" tom, a 16" floor tom, a 22" kick, a 10 lug 14" snare drum, and an 8 lug 14" snare drum. The methods, however, apply to drums of all sizes.

Man, whenever I watch a video of Kenny's I'm so thankful for guys like him. Just a cool guy sharing his knowledge. Support him if you can, he's a good dude.
Thank you so much my brother. Your support is greatly appreciated. Thx for always shouting out the channel.
My god, this is brilliant! You are a life saver, Kenny.
Thank you so much for the kind words. The full video has tons of great tips, and is now streaming at www.kennysharretts.com/video-courses
for anyone who wants to grab a great set of quick fix tuning skills for keeping your kit dialed. Thank you so much for watching.
That rack tom sounds, well, perfect!
Thank you so much for the kind words my friend.
I started to use the interval tuning on my gig kit a year ago and it has made a big difference on my sound. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience Kenny!
As usual, great info!
Thank you 🙌
Just wanted to drop you a note, Mr. Sharrets. After watching and rewatching(many many times) all your videos with your new Rogers Covington Series Drums, I had to get some of my own so I did! I just received my Rogers Covington Drum Kit in Red Ripple with matching 5x14 and 6.5x14 Rogers Dynasonics. I opted for the 22, 12, and 16 shell pack and added a 14x14 floor. You sir are a great Ambassador for the rebirth of the legendary Rogers brand. I'm a Rogers man now thanks to you.❤❤❤
Man i’m totally humbled, and welcome to the Rogers fam. I’m with you. I loooove these drums. I eventually got the 22” and a 16” floor. Love both setups. Especially the color. 🙌🙌🙌. Thank you so much for the kind words. 🙌🙌🙌
And I forgot to say “The Dyna-Sonics!!!” 🙌🙌🙌😂
nice!
Hi Kenny it's me...I can't persuade my wife anymore to sit on drumheads while tuning 😅 I am using one of your snare settings. Start with fundamental 196 hz after playing it goes down to 193 hz also the reso is not so tight anymore do you always have to detuning it again. Thanks Dutch drummer living in Austria 😊
I'm new to your channel Kenny, I love your vids, very informative, have You always played on Roger's kits? They always sound so good, Are they maple? I always love the Crack of those snares. Thanks for putting these vids out there for the garage drummer.....
Thank you so much for the kind words. My pleasure. The Rogers kits n snares are Maple/Poplar shells.
Hey Kenny, love your videos man!! You got any pointers for a C&C player date 1? I’m new to the round over bearing edges. Lol!!
Thank you so much for the kind words. The Covington and PowerTone both have rounded edges so if you want a straight to the point lesson check out
my PowerTone Tom tuning video at kennysharretts.com . For $34.99 you will be well schooled step by step in the ways of the rounded bearing edge. . www.kennysharretts.com/video-courses?wix-vod-video-id=5f63fdef825d4c37b500ad8dff33935f&wix-vod-comp-id=comp-lcl5ds5j

I’ve heard from quite a few sources “you tension drums, not tune them” or “specific pitches don’t matter” and I’m like you obviously have never seen any of Kenny Sharretts videos have you?
Lolol thank you. Tensioning is an applicable description as well. The reality is on my gig with the Dead for example I HAVE TO tune to notes. So for those who say you don’t tune drums to notes? I have to strongly disagree. Tension to me refers to the feel of the drum. Pitches refer to the tone. Thank you so much for watching, and commenting.
New subscriber for a couple of weeks now. Really enjoy these videos. Can u make a video about your set up to make youtube videos...ie mic-laptop mix, camera equipment set up, and software...thanks in advance
Thank you so much for the sub and for watching. 🙏 Not a bad idea. I’ll have to see what I can put together.
👍
Cool
Thank you so much for watching, and commenting.
Great Video Kenny, quick question, whats your opinion on cast aluminium snares drums, im really thinking of getting one but are they more dark sound than say steel, and would diecast hoops suit them better than the pearl superhoop thats on them?
I love aluminum snares. Got a ‘62 Ludalloy Supraphonic that is awesome. Yes a bit more character (with dare I say a bit warmer sound than steel) , and an unmistakable poosh at any tension. Super hoop’s should be the best of both worlds on that drum. Just note aluminum rings. A lot! Much appreciation as always.
@kennysharretts Hey Bro. My condolences, man. I dont have a direct line to DM you, but know that you are loved and being thought about.
Thank you so much for your kindness. I’m doing my best to survive this.
Hey Kenny! Do you have any videos on triggering an acoustic kit w mesh heads, and what modules younwould recommend TY
Yes I do. I have several. I’ve been using my Yamaha EAD10, but my videos cover several models of drum pads. If I was going to add e cyms, I would move to my DTX 700z
Beyond that here’s a link to a vid on triggering black holes w/ 3 different units.

The notes that you were tuning are they lug frequencies? Or fundamental frequency?
I tend to tune to the lug pitch . I find it to be more consistent. Thank you for watching, and commenting.
Wats all that mean?
