Obviously it's just an opinion but I feel like if cold war had been given more maps that were normal round based it would've been received alot better in the end
I have the answer for you. Warzone. MW2019's introduction of Warzone completely changed the Call of Duty experience. Blackout in BO4 was generally well accepted and the immense success of Warzone 1.0 meant it was a no brainer for Cold War onwards to follow the Battle Royale route. Cold War was a blessing in the sense it had both Round Based and the Warzone style Zombies we've seen since CW up to MW3 now. I don't mind them branching to this style, objective based, openworld etc but if you even look at MW3's campaign, they've made it Warzone Campaign and people hate it. I am a strong believer the success of Fortnite and other battle royale games have single handily created what we have now. It caters to battle royale or semi interested shooter playerbase. However, OG's of campaign and zombies are suffering. Cold War perfected the notion of having OG zombies and Battle Royale style zombies, as much as people hate on it, I don't understand why they couldn't continue this formula. Instead, since Cold War, they've gone completely far into the favour of Battle Royale gameplay. WaW up to BO3 was great, all renditions included minor tweaks, minor details that made each thrive. WaW and BO1 were scary, gritty, grab a gun and kill. BO2 and BO3 was a lot about storylines, experiences and moving into an arcade style gameplay where any player can jump in have a laugh while killing zombies while also being reminded of what made zombies great, seriousness and grabbing a gun and killing zombies. BO4 tried to experiment with BO3's success but just tweaked features that didn't need changing. WW2 I'll give a quick mention to because it did manage to capture WaW and BO1's atmosphere and grab a gun and kill. Vanguard and MW3 are just appealing to BR type players, let's be clear, the term they use 'casual' players to basically say those who don't pay for DLCs and play free BR games instead. However, MW3 is case in point, Warzone is great, so let's bring Warzone to every mode we have and therefore it'll become more popular. I hope the next rendition of zombies cuts ties with the notion of Warzone = better, this goes for the campaign as well, as the differences between MW2019 and MW3's campaign is absolutely comical.
When you look at MW3 closely at all (and this is especially easy for me to do as I haven’t played since bo4,) it’s clear they’ve tried their hardest to turn into Fortnite. The emphasis on the big open maps, and especially the skins. This has even bled into zombies with urzikstan. Luckily we know that this trend isn’t continuing given the fact that we know round based will return in both BO6/7.
@@FerociousPancake888I’m hoping that round based will be similar to bo3’s version where the round counter was on the bottom left and everything else felt great. It’s also good that bo2 remastered is happening in 2025 but I would say that fortnite has revolutionized the br genre and completely made it into something for everyone to enjoy. As soon as I saw there was no clear objective in mw3 it made me think ‘why not call it COD: Warzone 3 instead?’ Cod hasn’t been the same since Warzone and hopefully it’ll get forgotten about soon. LOL no sorry you have that BACKWARDS 😂 Almost anyone will tell you BO3 was/is peak zombies. BO1 still holds up,but sorry it’s NOT #1….thats FACT *not* opinion
I don't know when exactly the game "failed". I think you might be gaslighting yourself a little. The statistics show very clearly that zombies numbers are at an all time high with recent installations (if we ignore Vanguard, of course), and there is little to nothing to suggest that it has "failed" by any means. I think everyone underestimates just how much of you OG veterans there really are in the playerbase. Most of the playerbase are casual players who have never completed a single easter egg and are 100% content to keep it that way. The reason many of us enjoy zombies is because it's as simple as "Find a gun and shoot some zombies until you die". That formula is what keeps us here, not any easter eggs or storylines or characters or any of that. Zombies is inherently successful because it was an easy-to-understand mode that had good replayability. I even hold the opinion that BO3 was one of the worst renditions of the mode because of how far it strayed from that original notion. BO1 and BO2 both had maps and features that allowed users to play casually, but not BO3 - save for the Kino remake. I find most of my favorite titles in the franchise to be either non-Treyarch titles or recent Treyarch titles, because these are the games that actually understand what zombies is and what made it popular.
In simple terms less is more in zombie mode. How I feel about it. The game had replay value for me because we made up challenges. We did first room challenges. We made our own challenges. Where u pap the m1911 aka mustang and Sally and stay in a area with good wall gun. Also playing with randoms on bo1 was enjoyable as I could carry a team to 30 plus. In bo3 people quit cause of the gobble gums. Bo1 had sum rng with box hits but that was what made it fun. Bo2 I also had sum fun and I won't bash that game. But for me bo3 killed it and that's where zombie mode became to much. Again il say less is more. Just my opinion. After bo3 I haven't bought a cod game since.
Wayyy too many people defend bo4 I hate having to remind people how many people treyarc scared away from ever buying a cod game again whatever is next to come will be noob friendly 100% but maybe the time they’ve had will give real fans something to get excited about

19:10 BOA you seriously are complaining that BO4 was bad due to stupid things like hit marker and because there was two stories… really dude? No one thought something stupid as hit markers made BO4 bad and they definitely weren’t complaining about two stories at once . BOA… 90% of the people who play zombies aren’t playing for the story… just like no one was back then in WaW. And even if everyone genuinely cared about the story at all was an extra story aka more content be that big of a deal??? That’s such a stupid critique. BO4 doesn’t deserve to be called bad over having extra content. That absolutely so ridiculous you think people actually disliked the fact that we had more content by having two stories at once than the actual issues like the perks. And I genuinely feel like people like you are why we got things like vanguard zombies because you guys are over here crying about the most bizarre shit only to look back on it a few years down when we have vanguard to go “wElL BO4 wAsNt Bad rEaLlY” Most of these games you UA-camrs whine about besides vanguard don’t deserve the harsh treatment. You literally liked WW2 zombies but I fire warfare was just horrid when it never was people literally hated the game before it came out. And a long as you UA-camrs constantly bash EVERY, SINGLE, GAME we get, everyone’s gonna jump in your bandwagon and listen to you say “hit markers I. Zombies, really? Go “YEAA FUCK HITMARKERS!” When you can just simply turn them off too. I genuinely hate the cod community for this exact reason. Act like the games the absolute worst to ever be, only to whine about how good it was when we get ACTUAL shit like vanguard…
I will never quite understand how Cold War doesn't get the backlash it deserves. It literally started the trend of making the zombies mode have no zombie like atmosphere and made the game mode feel incredibly clunky from the shit that was on the floor to the zombies health bars and points showing up like your playing mp. it all took a way worse turn at Cold War than it was ever close to in b04
It was catered to more casual players which kind of make up more than half of the player base now, I also didn’t like how it left the zombies atmosphere, it felt more like multiplayer than zombies. I hear you, but I also enjoyed it. It was easy as hell and they fixed things that bo4 didn’t.
I believe your wrong on the chart boa. Black ops 4 is same par as bo3 . reason being is tht bo3 didnt do things as good as bo4 . but in turn bo4 didnt do some small things. Better than bo3. So they should be on equal footing . only reason i believe some people dont like bo4 is tht it gives a conclusion to og crews . tho thts not a good enouph reason for game to not be on same level as bo3 . gameplay wise bo4 has better game play than bo3. As well as hud set up . yes revalations is only thing tht bo3 has over bo4 . but bo4 has completely new maps except for blood of dead being a reimagined mob of dead . still thts just my opinion as i play both . still i wish ppl would see tht . Every thing after bo4 was complete shit tho. The idea behind them all was good . but wasnt worked on enouph . treyarch should be more connected with community simply by doing surveys and demo testing by fans to see what they can do to produce a game thtll do as well as bo3 and 4 . before everything went steeply down hill
Lmfao wow! Now BOA’s doing it too now! BO2 is the most unique and different zombies ever? Really? He’s obviously just saying that cause nostalgia because the other games have That and more but cause Tranzit is on BO2 and it’s old it’s the most unique. Now I’m like 10 years he’ll say that about MW3 or Vanguard because vanguard is 10000% unique but that definitely doesn’t mean it’s good. I think this is my least favorite part of the cod fanbase is that as things get older they’re suddenly the best when back then everyone was saying it’s the worst! Like whyBOA? Man I was 10 when bo2 came out mane and idk if it’s me being young but every map on that mf is a banger and I was one of the ones that hated shadows Fr I don’t hate it now but ion like it still but that’s really where I was like ohh yuhh gotta get into this story Fr Fr
Did you change the intro music because of Copyright?
What happens when they make money every year on a game.. cut cost by making maps that could be used in both game modes.. less cost, less labor.. still makes money and can keep the cycle.
Its peanut butter jelly time
I hope the old story gets made as a whole game by custom zombies because I know Treyarch ain't going to do anything ever. I mean come on it's an easy way to make some extra money for activision.
Reason why zombies was specials was this effect what i love to call what the fuck os going on here?
Simole bo2 maps felt like survival mode with efford putted into it and best maps felt like entirely sepparate game
I mean look at origins, derrise and shino at the time or any ww map to be onest, kino, five, ascension...moon!
I guess we all get it
You can argue that bo3 was zombie centered...even have zombiefied campaing and besides multi is whats left
They even included zombie to story
In my personal opinion they should just take the first four games and turn them into one and just make a zombies only game and maybe put the Cold war perks and loadouts
I don't like the loadouts you should start with nothing
@@jeremyscungio16 this is why I said maybe 🤔
So it wouldn’t affect zombie spawns or things like that but actual features outside of zombie behaviour that makes it easier
How the fck do people think zetsubou is bad and Gorod and revelations are good ffs what is wrong with these folks
Because zetsubou is the worst map on bo3
Who remembers the old boa vids great times 🥹
I almost 100% agree with your rankings the change for me is I’d probably put bo3 lower, I liked shadows of evil and the remake of der riese but I wasn’t a fan of the gobble gum system and i stopped playing cod after der eisendrache because i lost interest in cod and the newer zombie maps weren’t really drawing me back I played them with family and friends every now and then but for me everything after bo3 was either a let down or was mid at best but that’s just my opinion, good video though.
Bo3 was the first black ops i actually preferred the multi-player over zombies. Zombies is only good on PC for bo3
HERESY BLACK OPS 3 IS THE VEST COD OF ALL TIME
Both bo3 multiplayer and zombies weren’t bad it just wasn’t too interesting to me I really liked bo2 multiplayer and zombies a lot more
@@Gabriel_Figueroa if you think BO3 is mid I can't wait to hear your thoughts about the games afterwards 🤣
Bo3 is the best zombies
Did everyone forgot infinite warfare zombies?!
I didn't mind Infinite Warfare Zombies I loved it. Unlike WW2 Zombies I think I never played WW2 Zombies.
BO4 zombies is much better then Cold War in my opinion
BO1 is the cream of the crop no zombies mode has even touched it since. BO3 is second.
LOL no sorry you have that BACKWARDS 😂 Almost anyone will tell you BO3 was/is peak zombies. BO1 still holds up,but sorry it’s NOT #1….thats FACT *not* opinion
@@AdamAddictL the people that can’t play without a shield will tell you that lmfaooo
The reason its going the way it is cuz yall want one every year. Thats why we didn't get chronicles two and part of the reason bo4 has no campaign
Leaks, expectations for more and then not trying to understand them trying new stuff to evolve the experience
If they did then why didn’t David Vonderhaar tell us he’s team was gonna do it?
@@ghostmari0592 bro context clues I mean they literally scrap it because of zombies.
@@JakeSmith-t3o oh
@@JakeSmith-t3o I was hoping they would do the same for Zombies chronicles 2 since the first one on BO3 was a huge success
I actually like 2 hit zone more
Wayyy too many people defend bo4 I hate having to remind people how many people treyarc scared away from ever buying a cod game again whatever is next to come will be noob friendly 100% but maybe the time they’ve had will give real fans something to get excited about
Most of It it's nostalgia
Not really. The older games are just way better than what we have now
Defintely not nostalgia
When you talking about a map can you show gameplay of said map would make it a way better video
Why’d he change the thumbnail😂
Long live BO1 & BO2 zombies. WAW was great but it was bare bones as youd expect. BO1 version of WAW maps are great. Cold War zombies wasn't bad at all in my opinion, WW2 wasnt that bad either imo. BO4 zombies i really didn't like at all. I never played Vanguard
Whut!!! No WW2
its not part of the main zombies despite being zombies because ww2 zombies is different
Idk why people 💩 on Cold War so much
Cold War is not better than Bo4 .. zombies wise. Not even close... not even in the same universe
I don't care who said, why it keep happened, etc. it's everybody problem for disgraceful action on COD Zombies Franchise, unacceptable.

Bo2 is peak
BR killed zombies
No all they had to do was keep the peaks and bo4 would have been great and stop the zombies real in front of you and run at round 2 lol
i dont agree to the everything but most of it yes
I remember playing zombies on bo2 back in the day but he mw3 zombies isn't that bad I like it
😂😂 the comments are crazy. I just live zombies. Every game has its ups and downs. I draw the line at live service.

downfall of BOA man. 😕
Ww2 zombies so trash everyone completely forgot about it 🤣
Or aw zombies or iw zombies lolll
Oi IW zombies slaps
cold war is a great time killing game. i can play an hour and have alot of fun i think it compares to kino
Funny your rankings are no where close to sales 😂
Meaning they could careless about individual opinions. They care about sales. BO3 barely reaches Top 10 lol

4) Cold War +30mil

WAW was better than bo4 zombies
I hate vanguard and mw3 zombies
Black ops 4 wasn't bad tho after 4 call of duty was dead
Black Ops 4 was the Peak of Zombies, idc what anyone says. The company started messing up but the Devs poured everything into those maps
Disagree - the peak was when the company enabled the efforts of the devs, i.e. BO3 (and BO1 DLC4)
They tried to hard to innovate
It’s not that it’s just the community won’t accept anything that isn’t crutch perks and round based

BO 4 SUCKS IN MY OPINION
Sixty Ninth
Okay gramps I get you need to write down your whole entire diary.
God😂😂😂

I will never quite understand how Cold War doesn't get the backlash it deserves. It literally started the trend of making the zombies mode have no zombie like atmosphere and made the game mode feel incredibly clunky from the shit that was on the floor to the zombies health bars and points showing up like your playing mp. it all took a way worse turn at Cold War than it was ever close to in b04
Idk it was pretty fun I enjoyed cw zombies
It was catered to more casual players which kind of make up more than half of the player base now, I also didn’t like how it left the zombies atmosphere, it felt more like multiplayer than zombies. I hear you, but I also enjoyed it. It was easy as hell and they fixed things that bo4 didn’t.
bo4 is a masterpiece compared to Cold War.

Your comment gave me a stroke good lord.
You were my favorite cause I did t think you were like that lol But whateverrrr BO2 “CHANGED THE GAME FOR EVER AND IS SOOO UNIQUE CAUSE BIG MAPS!” lol
Like I said before. It started going downhill in Black Ops 2.
BO2 as a whole was ok….but zombies had 2,maybe 3 good maps. Mob and Origins were Top Tier in that game, then maybe 3 if you push Buried…
Bo3 zombies was goated
@blackopsimorttal this is the only change
