People dont realize how fast these things are

The things definitely quick. The snow was really soft so I haven’t been able to feel the full power yet. When it gets harder and more packed it should hook up way better

      The 98 was faster

I would also make sure you replace the exhaust springs because mine were rusted open and started a small fire on the heat sheild

Use a Polaris Almond Round spring (140/330) Weights go with 62's, your peak running RPM to shoot for is 8-8100 on a calibrated tach, for the secondary get a Polaris Silver/Blue spring and use a polaris R-11 (45/36) helix in hole #2 or 3 depending on where the RPM's peak out at, this setup should work nicely when you install your 136 track and the 22/40 gears, stock gearing on those sled is 24/40, top end speed will probably only be in the 90-95 MPH range with the longer track if you drop 2 teeth on the top gear. If you want more pull from low to midrange go with a Polaris R-12 (50/36) helix, your stock helix is a straight 36 and in my opinion are not great.

That is a snow check you have there, special order, they are kinda rare, they come with a white hood

I have a 2000. There aint really much info on them and lots of conflicting info as well. From what I can get 99 is called gen 2 but is a 98 with a different hood. 2000 is actually a different chassis all together. All great sleds no matter.

What do you need to know? The first XC 700s were wedge chassis in 97 a limited build of 500, purple head 220 cylinders and a hotter CDI,then the snowcheck 98s still had 220 cylinders but were updated to 824 cylinders for the rest of 98 ,in 99 the bodywork went to Gen 2 same sled as 98 except the cooling was a little different in 2000 they updated the carbs and exaust to make it more quiet,02 went to Edge chassis and power valves.

@@dirtyfacegeorge9938 my brother had a 98 with 220s. Only changes were heal clicker and a boost bottle. That sled was insane. I got the 2000 sp 700 because i knew it was detuned a bit and its an odd ball. They change alot for the 45th anniversary. They changed the clutch and bolt, put longer radius rods making it wider. Gas tank and seat are different. Read in one acticle they actual changed the chassis for the xc and xcr 800. That was the lightest xcr by Like 20 lbs. making those the only true gen 2s for xc 700 was 2000 and 2001 1/2. The 1/2 year is what I am looking for next. I luv the black paint over red and its odd. I think the xcr and some others used that chassis for a few more years.

@@thesenutz77 yes sir you are correct not sure about the chassis thing tho ,but I can find out for sure, my sleds are what started out as a XC deluxe 600 wich has been extended, edge skid 700 top end, and I just got a 2003 XCR 800 ,the holy grail 😁

@@dirtyfacegeorge9938 Jealous Af. I would love to find a Gen 2 xcr. I havent had my 700s long but So far I luv them. It dont feel much slower then the 98 but i am running stock clutches kinda and them 98s are just stupid quick,
