“Adam” it is FTW! Cheers bro, looking forward to seeing the blast plates do their mojo on your 5 speed. Held mine together for 5 years before I did the 6 speed swap.
Some how I came across this video, and never watched the entire thing, but two notes others should know. 1. You do not need to take the intake manifold off to get the motor out. No need to do unnecessary work if you don’t have to. 2. The hood pistons have a “service position” where you take the two top bolts out and move them down to two more bolt holes down lower on the hood. It lifts the hood out of the way more for more clearance with the hoist.

Not sure if anyone has said it already but there was actually a sort of recall put out on the 11 to 14s where they were spinning rod bearings (wrx only) because they hadn't yet started nitrating the WRX cranks. When I had my WRX hatch they guy I had bought it from had all the paperwork and class action lawsuit information he gave to me because it had ended up getting warrantied out
Seeing this actually made me so much less stressed. My dad and I did my timing and the driver's side cam gears spun and we thought we destroyed some valves but sent it anyways. Should have done the oil pump looking back 😵💫😵💫
already a step ahead of me on the build progress. 257 is still on the bench and the valves are out of the heads. doing a full workup on them before I seal it all back up and get the bolt on done
If you strip the allen hole in the sprocket bolts, you can use a bolt extractor over the outside of the cam bolt to get it off without having to drill it.

Intro got me hyped.
🔥🔥🔥
As a Subaru guy I’m loving that EVO. I reckon I’d wrap it but leave the carbon hood raw.
Gotta decide on a wrap color 🔥💪
@@Smeedia That’s a decision I’m glad you have as I couldn’t make up my mind.
noice, i bought that same header. i'm curious to see what it sounds like myself. currently waiting on 8mm intake spacers because the 3inch killer b hard turbo inlet wont clear the coolant line under it.
Those killer B hard inlets are solid units 💪
@@Smeedia these cars are all new to me tbh lol built many cars over the years. only bought my first subaru 3 years ago, a stock 2017 forester. When my friend died a year later, i ended up buying the last car he owned, his "favorite car" an 07 WRX TR. Its taken me all this time to get all the "things" the car needed to be reliable again... and as the build progresses its one little annoying thing i need to alter after another.. right now its the oil filter hitting the header that im trying to sort out.. they say i need sti oil line and cooler but man.. thats like 400$ in stuff ive already got lol frustrating lol
Sorry to hear about your friend 💔
Unfortunately with subarus thats how the cookie crumbles sometimes 😮💨 subarus can be a little tight...
So just bought that header about 2 nights ago... keeping the rumble killing the heat! Saving cylinder4??!! Lol
Maybe? Curious to see how this header responds 🤝
Next video when you are rebuilding the engine, can please go slowly over the pcv system / how it is hooked up and also vacuum lines? Thank you
I can try to cover that 🤝
I have a dumb question so I just got my car back from the dealership it was covered under warranty the short block was replaced they said drive it like normal and baby for 2000 miles what do they mean
They essentially want you to stay under 4K RPM and no boost.
2k miles is extremely excessive fir a engine break in
Change oil at 50 miles
Stat out if boost for first 50 miles
Then drive it normal for 250 miles
Change oil again
Then send it
Don't go over 4k rpms or floor it for 1000 miles. Then do an oil change.
Wooohooo !! One Evo u can do a yellow wrap with blk details
I'd be down for yellow again 😅
What do you think about the +2mm rod builds?
Helps with the rod to stroke ratio, definitely not a bad option if your looking
Hey 👋. Do you still recommend “chemical guys” for detailing?
Yessssir, I still like their stuff 🤝
@@Smeedia cool thank you
that header looks nice!
Fits beautifully!
I vote wrap the evo! And are you gettingbthe forester from the guy in the car show video?
Trying to snag it 🤝🤞
Did the hatch come with aftermarket exhaust manifold?
No, just stock 🙏
You have no clue how far your videos carry me 😂
Eyyyy here to help where I can 🤝
Does killer b baffle works fine with iag oil pick up??
Cannot confirm, never tried 🙏
Yo smeedia I have the same gen Subaru and I remember you mentioned in an older video that it was leaking power steering and you were going to change the rack. I need to change mine so I was wondering when and if you plan on doing it so I can learn something or two lol
When I can afford it 😅 new rack is like $900 or so
Should wrap the Evo grabber blue
Ohhhh that could be sweet 🔥
Every time your neighbors hear Woooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh they jump on the youtubez and keep hitting that Refresh! Speaking of Refresh , Just reminder - Subie Fest Daytona Fl..... JUST Sayin....again 😂
Lol the neighbors have to love it by now 😅🔥
Another car you say? Is it that forester you were talking to the guy about in the last video? 🤔🤔
🤭🤭
