Actually, the Destiny's mission was not to find the origin of the big band but rather to find evidence of intelligence existing before the big bang occured. Making that intelligence so called "God".
The Phoenix Also why would they abandon that mission once ascending?
Do they already know the answer to the question? And if they do why didn't Daniel just tell everyone instead of going through all the effort of boarding Destiny.
We know he did keep a large amount of information even once descending.
The ancients make no sense it's almost like they gave up exploration once they ascended but realistically there must still be things to learn and a next step.
@@Fuxy22 i think they cannot leave our galaxy, because in other galaxies also other beings ascended and they are probably not as peaceful or passive. i would like to see the obelisk builders as example of other ascended beings.

I'd like you to continue with this topic. There's so many nuances to the ancients. I'd like to hear more of your take in a part 2.
When do you date the Alliance of 4 Great Races? I usually figured it was the remnants of Lanteans coming back to the Milky Way that forged it with the other 3 for 3 main reasons:
1) Ancient hologram in Atlantis said "Never before had we encountered beings who technology rivaled our own"
2) The Asgard were still using cryo-ships 30,000 years ago, when the Lanteans were still in Pegasus
3) The name "Ancients" is likely to have been attributed to the Gatebuilders by the younger three races, and stuck when they came back.

I could be wrong, but I feel like that the Ancient might have make contact with the Asgard in the Ida Galaxy on their way to the milky way, and while they were placing gate in the milky way (To provide the seeding of life with the Device on Dakara) they eventually seed gate into Ida to provide and allow the asgard to make their own gate network.

well we know the nox are either from or settled milkyway
we know destiny and is seed ships (appear to have seeded atleast part of the milkyway on their way out) they also went through pegasus. which give a possible general direction for destiny.
kyle hubner but the Lanteans much later settled Pegasus and replaced all the Stargates with newer versions. Destiny long predates Atlantis m, the Asgard cryoship or the Alliance.
So really, the Ori must've been the main faction of their species if they had enough numbers to force out "The Others" or the Alterans.
It's not really known, the Ancients figured it was going to be a war of atrition so the Ori most likely had more reasources. So it was a cut our losses and get out while we can kind of thing.
Due to the free will policy of the Alteran and the Zealous action of the Ori to convert all to Origin, it was a loosing battle for the Ancient. Renounce your believe of free will or GTFO.... they just GTFO :)
The Ori were not ascended yet nor were the Others. The Ori forces outnumbered the Others and they fled to avoid a war that they probably would have lost. It's implied that Origin is based off of a religion that the Alterans followed prior to the Schism.
the alterans did not want to fight their bretherin FULLSTOP and thus chose to leave before the ori could instigate the war.

I can't wait for the new Stargate Series to come out. That said, I am disappointed that the Atlantis expedition didn't find the room that the ancients created the ZPM's. I mean damnnnn really, no way to make them, not a single sketch hahaha
My guess is that the Ancients deleted the information from the Atlantis Database to keep it from the Wraith.
@@tompearce5418 That makes sense in a way, the storyline shows what they can do with a ZPM for sure, so the Ancients could have been aware of that. But they didn't even speak about them in SG1 either, nothing in the Ancient depository or knowledge, other than just general information. They know everything about them, but the containment of them was still a mystery hahaha
Two ancients I want to discuss for a moment. Both encountered by SG1
Oma Desala had to walk a tight line. If she did too much, the other ascended beings would stop her. So while she did skirt the line, she for the most part was careful not to ignore the rules (just bend it). And if it wasn't for Daniel Jackson (who played fast and loose with the rules as compared to the others), she wouldn't have decided to finally fight against Anubis.
And Orlin broke the rules and was punished by the other ascended beings. He gave technology to a planet so the people could defend themselves from a Goa'uld threat. Once the threat had passed, the people planned to conquor other planets. The others wiped them out and banished Orlin to that planet. He had never heard of Oma Desala until SG1 talked to him. And thanks to SG1, he was able to earn redemption and be allowed back into the fold by the others. Of course he then descended to aid us against the Ori, to his detriment.
Theres also that ancient that was banished too protect that planet in pegasus galaxy that Shepard fell for
I understand the no interference by ascended being. It prevents the corruption like it did with the Ori.
You forgot about the 1 remaining gal on a planet in the Pegsas Galaxy who is being punished for defending her planet from the wraith
Not quite, I did make a theory that incorporates her. It’s entitled something like Ori in the Pegasus Galaxy Theory
..they traveled across the universe...as said in the book Daniel found in the storehouse..they found a great belt of stars and named their new home Avalon was taken to mean the local group...and their original home was far, far away from the local group...
just a couple of inconsistencies with cannon here the Pegasus replicators had no beef with the alterans (their code incorporated one of the three rules of ai DO NOT HARM YOUR CREATOR) they were destroyed by the alterans when the project they were created for (killing the wraith) failed
ascention was discovered by and started on by the ancients (alterans) in the Pegasus galaxy possibly even before the exodus (as we have no date on the gene altering technology that could well have saved the Asgard and reset them on the path to ascention)

I'm curious about the ancient Myrddyn. I have a theory that after meeting Daniel Jackson while he was an ascended being and seeing his resolve in dealing with Anubis. After the Ori discover where they had gone, he could have sent a parallel SG1 back in time by creating a perfectly timed solar flare. [which the others would not see as "interfering" as they would have just seen it as him creating a solar flare] Being that Myrddyn and later Daniel with his memories remembers SG1 looking like Auther's knights.If this could be true then theoretically the plague the ancients suffered could have been a first strike from the Ori after they discovered where they had gone by Daniel and Vala using the communication stones.
Which solar flare?
The theory is complete speculation, there was no episode that says that sg1 had gone back in time but we know that ancients can manipulate natural phenomena and with a properly timed solar flare you can go back to a specific time. SG1 has gone back and changed things in the past [planning and executing the rebellion against Ra] without coming back to the "present".
The going back in time to plan the rebellion was made using Janus Time machine, that, was against Council to do any such work. So wouldn't say ancient can time travel, cause the council knew the danger of time travel.
As ascended beings, they are outside our concept of time. so they could manifest in our space-time at any point or time. SG1 went back to 1969 via a solar flare and in one of the episodes of Atlantis Shepard went forward in time because of a solar flare and an AI Rodney had to put him in stasis until a solar flare could send him back.
What's the next step for them though? They seem to have stagnanted once ascending.
Not to mention non interference on the lower plane is not possible realistically speaking because they left a mess behind in the process.
The Ori and the replicators being just a few of their civilizations doings.

Great video. One thing you didn't mention however, was the abilities of the Ancients. Their evolved state allowed them some degree of Telepathy, Telekinesis, Healing, and a greater mental/memory capacity able to handle the database of the Ancients being downloaded into them without it frying their brains. Oh and they lived for about 450 to 500 years as a natural lifespan, although presumably with their technology they could have perhaps lived indefinitely had they chosen to do so.
Yes that is vary true. Unfortunately, in some of these videos I don't have the time to hit on every aspect. so thanks for bringing it up in the comments.
Do you plan on making a part 2 to this video? It's pretty good and I have no issues against it unlike other videos.I always wondered why in all of Atlantis, they never found instructions on how to make a ZPM. Were they so easy to make for the Ancients that they never had to write them down?

Zelenka said this about ZPM's in the show "It extracts vacuum energy from [an] artificial region of subspace-time until it reaches maximum entropy." Sadly that seems to suggest that once it is spent it is just a dud, no recharge, you have to construct a new one to extract vacuum energy from a different plane of subspace-time.
Maybe, maybe not. We don't know for sure if it CAN be done or not (at least, IDK for sure) The only time they tried a similar process on Atlantis, a parallel Rodney came to their universe to stop them from destroying his universe.They never tried to really extract vacuum energy yet. The Asurans knew how to do it but they sure as hell didn't tell anyone else how to do it. Nor did any of the other Ancients they met, and they met more than their fair share of them over the years
I just finished watching episode 4 of season 1 startrek next generation and was surprised that in a strange sort of way u could say that the being on the planets surface and the crystals around where a form like the ancients all be it abit cruder than sg1 but it is similar in some ways like how the being was interested in sun tzu and Chinese mythology and there way of thinking.

the Ancients were a bit dificult to understand ,but one of the fanfictions of Stargate that i love most is a New Dawn , where the Ancients , the Furlings , ,Asgards , and the Tauri all join forces and estabelish a New alliance ,´.

You missed a vital pint of they used the device on the car to see all life in the universe in our galaxy, so they didn’t come across Homo sapiens they created the foundations for Homo sapiens to evolve
I know this is kind of random, but I wonder which galaxy the Ancients originated from. It's never said in the series, but it's implied to be rather far off, due to the fact that the Ori needed to build the supergate during seasons 9/10. They obviously had no problem chasing the Odyssey from the Asgard galaxy and back, so they obviously have the ability to go between galaxies easily. If they never sent ships to the Milky Way via hyperdrive, they must be FAR outside the local group. However, if the Ancients/Ori (we need a collective name for them) weren't from the local group, why would the Ancients decide to settle on the second largest galaxy in the local group instead of the bigger one?
The Alteran were from the same Galaxy as the Ori. And remember that the Ori ship that pursued the Odyssey were already in the milky way, and the asgard reside in the Ida galaxy sort of if not the same distance from Pegasus for the milky way. But the Ori galaxy is really really far from the milky way.... I don't remember but I feel it toke them couple hundred of thousand years to reach the milky way from the Ori galaxy
hunding1978 I thought Odyssey fought some in Ida as well, but I haven't seen "Unending" in a while and you may be right. I'm just wondering why if the Ancients/Ori were from another galactic group, why the Ancients choose not to settle in the largest galaxy in this group, especially considering that it is closer to the center and would make travel to other local galaxies like Pegasus easier.
The only reason I can think about is to put as much distance with the Ori to avoid percussion, I mean if they would be a stone throw to the Ori, they would eventually came for them sooner. And IIRC the milky way was devoid of life, and they create the Device on Dakara to seed life in the galaxy

It would be outside the local cluster but probably within the same supercluster.
One thing we do know about the ancients is they used a base 8 numerical system, (sometimes it was really inconsistant, it was mentioned once and never again) but its interesting because it would mean they either had 8 fingers or they counted using the spaces between their fingers rather than ticking of their fingers, given we see them with ten fingers because they basically forgot about this I assume the latter, but it is interesting, because a base eight system has some utility value, as it all but eliminates obnoxious decimals
Well at one point they used base eight math. But over thousands of years their knowledge would grow. As far as fingers we know they did have ten from watching Atlantis.

Wasnt there the whole arc about the weapon created by the ancients to wipe out life in the galaxy thus the disease as well, thta the milky way ancients used to effectively reset life in the galaxy -- thought that was pretty important..
There may have been Alterans who did not leave their original galaxy, so we don't know for sure that they are extinct. Example, the ones McKay and his team rescued in their light speed travel to earth.

Ok this is something that came to me when you just said Ori. The Ori and Alteran's fought as ascended beings but I don't think they fought (wars) when they weren't ascended. This means that the Ancients (Ori and Alteran's) were probably the same technologically and evenly matched. This brings me to the question, how then did the Ori get so powerful? Now we know they used followers to sap energy through prayer to gain strength as ascended beings but that power won't help them in the lower plains. The Wraith defeated the Ancients with superior numbers and quite often destroyed Ancient warships using Wraith Hives. The human form replicators also built exact replicas of the ancient warships which the Wraith Hives could also outmatch. So how is it the Ori can build ships that can withstand everything the milky way galaxy sent against them when a single Earth ship can take out an Ancient Warship? Does this mean the Ori could've defeated the Wraith and if yes, why didn't they when they were loosely allied (probably the wrong term) with the Ancients?

The problem I have with this more is : who were actually the ancients/alterans ? Human beings afterall ? If so this really doesn't make much sense... We as a species were not comtemporary to the dinosaurs to say the least. Of course this is sci fi story vs real science but it still needs to be consistent if not rational...
Hey man love your videos I'm a huge Stargate fan myself the one thing I never understood is the gates in the Milky Way galaxy are primitive then in the Pegasus Galaxy they're all fancy much more high-tech and then in Stargate Universe they even have those floating balls with the remote and that ship Destiny was supposedly launched from Earth so I just don't understand that
Here is 1 explanation the gates on Destiny are much older than any other gate lets call them version 1.0 the gates in the Milky Way Galaxy Where the Alteran's lived for a long time where updated by them till they left lets call them version 2.0 and the gates in the Pegasus Galaxy are the newest because that is the last place the Alteran's Lived call them Star Gate 3.0

Are you going to do the races revealed in the Fandemonium EU novels like the Ash Eaters. They are revealed to have been the ruling species of the Milky Way and, transcended their physical forms and then consumed themselves due to their hunger millions of years before the Alterans showed up there.
If there is enough call I'll look into it, but for now I'm just sticken with cannon and maybe Infinity.

One of the writers and the new SGU Return to Destiny comments states that Destiny was built 1 million years ago. I know this is a problem with the timeline. We need to get clarification on this.
Yeah..... I'm sticking with the original thought that was brought up on screen.
I noticed that too during the SGU series when Col. Young said 2-3 times during the series that Destiny has been flying through the universe for 1 million years. I think I might have an explanation for this discrepancy. After the Lucien Alliance attack on Destiny is foiled, the red-headed girl, I think Gin was her name, said that there was a legend about the 9 chevron gate address that said it led to a ship that could control time and space, or something to that effect. The space part, I think comes from the fact that Destiny can travel at many times the speed of light, yet it doesn’t enter hyperspace to do so. The time part, I believe that a time dilation device is used aboard Destiny. When there’s no organic crew aboard, the time dilation device is kept inactive, and time in and around the ship is slowed almost to a complete stop when the ship is in FTL. This is meant to slow the degradation of the ship and reduce the amount of needed maintenance the ship needs to perform on itself. In other words, to help the ship last longer. When there is organic crew on board, when the ship jumps to FTL, the time dilation device activates and speeds up time by the same amount that it would be slowed down if the jump to FTL were made without the time dilation device. This is done so that a 4 hour FTL trip doesn’t cause time outside the ship to pass by, say, half a million years, and the organic crews friends and family that weren’t on board to have been long dead when they come out of FTL. In other words, it makes sure that time for the organic crew passes at the same speed as it does for the rest of the universe by canceling out the natural time dilation that would be caused by going as fast in FTL as it does. Where the 1 million years comes in is that’s what the ships records show as to how long it’s been flying through the universe without the time dilation device activated, and inside the ship, only 1 million years really would have passed, even though to the rest of the universe, tens, or possibly even a hundred million years or longer have passed. Not really sure where Stargate Guy gets the 60 million year figure from. He may or may not be right about that being when the Ancients left the Ori Galaxy, but from what I can remember, I don’t think there’s enough information to conclusively say that’s when they left the Ori Galaxy or not. I know they couldn’t have left earlier than 50 million years ago because the frozen Ancient they found around the second Stargate on Earth was found in a layer of ice that was 50 million years old, but that’s another discussion.
There were more city/ships, Atlantis was only one of many. How do we know that the ancients didn’t send city ships to other galaxies at the same time they left earth, they could still be living and thriving in another galaxy for all we know. Perhaps they even wanted to hide this fact from us and that the ancients headed there after the fall of Atlantis, we know that Janos built his second time ship after the fall, perhaps he knew of them and went there later as the time ship seems to be his only found device from that time.
FYI, they also created the wraith.

The Ascended Ancients would not be able to interfere on Planes of Existence higher than the one they are on. They are on a high plane of existence but they are not on the highest plane and none have actually achieved getting to it.
As far as we know. We have interfired with a plane of exsistance higher than us. It may be possible for the Ancients to do the same.
Did we? We may have sway the Ancient into certain action, but I don't think we interfere.

for one to interfere with a higher plane of existance one must first be aware of it, we were/are aware of it and thus were able to interfere with it. the ancients presume there is anothe plane above them and have endeavoured to get there but as yet in canon don't know if it realy exists or how to get there

i like ancients. some theoretic space travel plans realize on there formate. though change things gates not real. i made gate space stations. that place vast gape between solor system. power them use solar panel and light beam shoot beam light two another solar panel space station. when full power it shoots light beam to next space station till every single one full power. you turn beam light on off too talk or do mories code. though seed internet through glass cables won't long seed internet through beam light. have much better way talk. that dr. rodney mc ayes gate bridge idea.

Am I the only one that didn't really like the ancients? They were arrogant and let's be honest, they were wimps. They obviously lacked the tactical skills and aggressiveness needed to win battles. So here comes the humans, with a limited knowledge of ancient tech, and they kick butt left and right. Imagine if they fully knew how to operate ancient tech. They even save the ancients themselves from the Ori! Plus, if I had a choice between ancient tech and modern Asgard tech, I'm taking the Asgard.
