Great informative video I fixed all my recliners and sofa's they had the power cable tied to where it becomes unplugged when you recline all the way, Very stupid design to say the least. Thank you
My chair wasn't working, and after following your tips, and turning it over, I discovered one of the connectors had come unplugged. It felt so good to be able to troubleshoot it. Thanks!
My chair stopped reclining, but all the lights worked even the head rest worked. So I flipped it over and saw that whom ever wired it together tied the lead wire to the motor, wired it to the moving part and the non moving part. After time it got tighter and tighter so finally it snapped. I stripped the wire and connected it back together. It works fine now.
I never imagined a loose wire could be an issue on my new power recliner but it was! Never would have known if I didn't click on this video. Thank you so much for your help! We are back in reclining action! :)
What if power fell out of the chair plug. What side is the + side for the plug in the chair. I have two wires that are DC bare with out the plugin. Do I have wary about getting it backward.
I just got a power recliner without taking into account the length of the power cord. My recliner must sit in the middle of the room and the recliner cord is short by about 2 feet no matter what I do. The actual power adaptor on the chair says 100-240V - 50/60Hz, 1.6A at an output of 29V - 2A. There's a big tag on it that says do not use with a power strip or extension cord. Can I use a power strip or extension cord? Do I need a heavier-duty extension? Nice video and channel. Thanks for all your tips.
I have a Best power recliner. Every so often it just stops working, but the lights on the hand control are working fine. I've changed hand controls and power cord (which didn't help) and then changed them back. Also switched outlets which worked a couple times. What's left to check?
Sounds like you have a connection issue. Follow the step in 4:40, Check your connectors for the batteries or motors and look for any loose connections. Most likely it's a loose connection that needs to be reconnected. If not, it may be a defective wire or connector that needs to be replaced. If you can 't find a loose connection, you may want to contact the furniture manufacturer for more information.
My husband cannot use his right hand and most power recliners seem to come with the controls on the right. I have seen 5 pin switches with the cord. Do you think i can simply disconnect that connection and replace with a switch with a cord so he could use these? Appreciate any help you could provide. Thanks!
I'm wondering if these are grounded properly as we've seen an increase of hardly any shocks from our old non-powered furniture to multiple shocks once receiving our new powered units (not from Furniture Fair, but other big box outlet).
That is an interesting idea. The shocks could be the result of static, (perhaps due to the type of upholstery) or also because of dryer air, (especially during the winter in colder climates) but I would hope it's not due to grounding issues. Contact your manufacturer or retailer if you are worried that it might be a safety issue. You can reduce the amount of static electricity in your home by keeping the indoor humidity levels above 35%. If you don't have one, consider getting a humidifier for your room. Another option is to avoid fabrics that create static when combined with your upholstery. Here's hoping it's not an electrical issue causing all the shocks.
Our best advice would be to either contact the store where you purchased the piece and find out if they can order a replacement chord, or find the manufacturer and contact them to find out if you can get a replacement that way. Many manufacturers use the same chord for multiple models, so they might know what model of chord you need. Hope this helps!
Hi Mary, we do not have a video pertaining to that specific problem at this given time. Hopefully this article might be of use for you though: seniorsmobility.org/living/lift-chairs/lift-chair-troubleshooting/
What if the power supply sparks when you plug in the small 2 prong cord from the couch to the power supply. The green light on the power supply turns off and nothing works.
You should definitely not plug your recliner back in if it is sparking. Contact the manufacturer or retailer and let them know what is happening. They may be able to find out what the problem is.
