Thank you! You helped solve my problem with my Ashley Furniture Party chairs and sofa that stopped working. I was able to trace the problem to the LED's in the cup holders shorting out the power supply. The power supply was lightly blinking green, so I followed your suggestion of disconnecting power connectors following the route. Once I disconnected the LED power wires, the power brick had a solid green light and the sofa reclining and headrest started to work again. I then went to other chairs and disconnected the LED wires and all of them work again!
Thank you 1000 times, I have exactly the same issue you had. I bought a brand new twin recliner just 2yrs ago without extended warranty and a month ago it just stopped working. I searched online everywhere without any result while my wife is getting angrier then I found your video. I just ordered the new switch unit. Thank you very much. Now I have happy wife at least until something else goes bad.
Glad to hear it helped!! Yeah I too was frustrated trying to find a solution online. Kind of the reason why I decided to make the video so that others having the same problem may come across it and hopefully have the same issue/solution. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The real take away from this video is learning that if the light is off, it’s connected to something bad. Learning that, I started to just simply disconnect one connector at a time underneath the couch. I finally came to a connector that powered a small LED assembly, and the green light came on. Telling me that after making that disconnect, the power pack was no longer connected to something bad. I now have two fully functioning couches, minus their LED displays. I call it a win. Thank you.
Mate, your video helped me locate the faulty circuit and isolate it and get the recliner going again. The hint re the power supply light was the key, thanks 😊
Thank you so much! Your thought process helped me isolate the led lights on my cup holders as the issue. I can live without those and am so happy to have my reclining back!
Thank you so much, we had the same problem but now it's fixed!! Your video was so helpful, clear and concise. Had to laugh when you snipped the cable 😆 Thanks again.
Thank you so much! After many videos I watched and after reconsidering on selling my couches, you saved me a few more years on these bad boys. I had to sacrifice my led lights on the couch and my cup holders but that is nothing to me without being able to relax on my couch. So quick and easy to fix. Thanks again! ❤ You are God sent!
Thanks for this video. I traced my problem to the lights on the bottom of the chair and the lights on my cup holders, I disconnected both of them and know I’m laid back once again.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this video. I have those same sofas. I bought the part but I found an exact match to what I have I swapped it and now is working again. Thank you so much. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Glad the video helped. Yes a quick cheap and easy fix for such an annoying and common problem with these chairs. And yes Defender is one of my favorite games!! Thanks for watching and commenting
I have an Ashley Party Time Recliner and let me tell you that your video was a Godsend in more ways than one. My sofa recliner was dead except for the center usb and plugs. I have two of the exact same sofa, so at first I switched the power plug and it still didnt work. By chance and luck I left the old one plugged in and noticed the light was illuminated. So I watched your video and immediately unplugged all connections and started slowly plugging in each connection until I got to the wire that leads to the led cup holder and buttons...I plugged in and it shot a spark and the led light went off...BINGO....well come to find out that the led cupholder is the cause of the entire couch mechanism to shut down. I did a search for my model and low and behold their is an active recall on my particular sofa recliner for the led cupholder where it was causing fires. I wanted to say thank you for your video in helping me isolate a fire hazard for me and my family. I will be calling Ashley Monday for the recall and thankfully I have a fully functional couch now after I have removed the cupholder and chord until they are able to fix it. Kudos to your video!
Thank you for taking the time to comment. It seems like many manufacturers use the same kind of setup and it's sad to see that this is such a problem that is not being addressed by them. Glad to hear you were able to figure out the issue!
I have the EXACT same issue as this individual. The party time couch just stopped working after exactly one year. I had no clue there was a recall on these couches nor did Ashley bother to mention this. I filed a claim and now I'm told someone will contact me within 2-4 weeks and to unplug the couch immediately. I've been sleeping on this thing with no clue I could've been burned to a crisp while doing so.
@@kaine7771 Yes I was quite upset too. We use ours in a much more limited fashion, but still crazy to think we took a few naps on ours too. We put our names in as well and still haven't heard anything.
That's great!! I'm glad to hear the video helped out. This is such an annoying problem yet such a simple fix. I can't believe how many (fairly new) recliners stop working because of this
Great info sir. Did you post the serial numbers yet? I’ll order on Amazon as I have same electrical issues on 3 year old recliner & tested the new adapter. Thank you.
Thank you. All the parts and links are in the video description but I'll paste them here too: ► Fromann 2 Button Remote Hand Control Handset with USB and Blue Light for Power Recliner Lift Chairs - amzn.to/3XweDN1 ► Switch without USB - amzn.to/3R1bPW0 ► Basic switch you can use to route under and use as a remote to troubleshoot or if you cant find one that fits your couch - amzn.to/3D6CqLu
Thank you very much! Glad I found your video. I was going to purchase a power adapter but it turns out it was just one of the connectors for the LED lights on my couch which I can live without!
Followed all steps on your video. Thank you. Noticed the switch had power so I tried it on the other side and it worked so it’s not the switch. Any other recommendations you can offer. At this point I just need to lower the foot rest don’t care if it works or not. Thank you in advance.
When you say you tried it on the other side, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean you took the power supply and connected it to the other recliner and it worked? If so, then it could still be the switch. Even though the switch lights with power, it can still be faulty. The power supply will turn itself off if it senses a fault in the switch. If that's the case, I would try just replacing the switch. If it doesn't work, you can always return it, and they are cheap anyway. Plus....It's only a matter of time before your switch dies as it's a very common problem with these chairs, so it may not hurt to have an extra on hand for cheap insurance
@@Mudslidex1thank you so much for your help. Yes same switch not working on one side, worked on the other side. I’ll get another switch. I ended up disassembling the mechanism just to get the foot rest out of the way for the time being. Thanks again.
Glad to hear you were able to fix it. I fear many people (including myself) automatically think at first it's the motor. Seems to be most times it's the switch which is a nice easy/cheap fix. Happy to hear the video helped!
I'm not sure. It depends. But it probably doesn't hurt to try replacing the switch anyway. They are inexpensive, and if you buy it on Amazon and it doesn't fix it, you can always return it. But you have to do process of elimination and rule out the switch first.
Unfortunately no. I didn't see anything on the motor or in the controls that allow such an option. I don't even know if it is, but it would sure be nice as they are kind of slow!
I have a theater style power recliner. I bought from the big Sandy furniture store five or six years ago.mine has the arm rest with the drink cupholders and the Concealed LED lighting the back part of the chair and the lower lumbar bar part of the chair, works however, the powered foot does not??? The main transformer outside of the chair that plugged into the wall developed frayed wires after a couple years and we wired that direct we found the polarity of the wires and wired direct and it worked great however within the last month and a half the footrest would stop working and if I tried to recline it with the back part several times and then pushed down with my feet. Most of the time it would start working again the other night the footrest stopped working again and I haven’t been able to get it going again, but the rest of the chair works. Where in the world can I get all these parts at? OK I would like to revise this I was about to give up on it I was getting ready to flip it back over and set it down on the floor as I had it sideways working on it and I just happen to notice a wire in the back of the chair on the frame all the way down on the floor and I traced it and it was the wire that goes to the motor/actuator for the foot rest and I shook that wire around a little bit and now the chair works the problem is I know I’m gonna have to do a more permanent fix and I don’t know how I’ll be able to get to that wire as it goes inside of the Metal square tube that the actuator rides back-and-forth on???for now it works I don’t know,,,thank God for that anyway because this close to Christmas I probably couldn’t have replaced it.
I just have the power loveseat with the cup holders and everything. My left side stopped working. But my right side works. I lift it up the couch a little bit and it worked a little bit and then it stopped working again. But thanks on this video. I’m gonna try everything when I get home.
We actually have the same furniture as you, the one that you unscrewed 4 screws with. It’s crazy, we barely used this one part of the sofa. I had only used the usb port, then I noticed my devices weren’t getting charged, then noticed the chair would not recline. The adapter plug, I thought blew out, because the green light was out. I ordered a new adapter, which solved the recliner issues but not the usb port! What was the plug you ordered for the usb port?
My mom's lift recliner stopped working. The light on the power supply came on and so did the light on the remote.
